Chapter 62: 62: Mates??!

As the wedding began to get rounded up, I took that as my cue to start trying to sneak out of the party.

As I snaked through the crowd, I stumbled to a stop as I felt multiple pulls in the crowd, along with a strong, intense and mouth watering scent in the air, which had my stomach fluttering and my eyes widening, because I knew what these signs were after experiencing it multiple times.

Mates.

Those words echoed loudly in my head and I gasped just as my heart began to race really hard.

What. The. Fuck.

There was no mistaken that. I knew what this exact sensations meant. The tingling at the bottom of my spine, the goosebumps rising over my arms, the way my throat dried up, and the way that same word was echoing in my head over and over again.

I let my eyes wander over in the crowd, trying to see where that scent was coming from, cause I have now confirmed that it was definitely not from the princes presently getting married.

"I now pronounce you all men and wives!" The sound of the priest announcing that loudly managed to piece into my mind and as the entire crowd clapped loudly and screamed, my eyes briefly darted towards the princes who had flat looks across their faces as they stood by each other instead of beside their new brides.

The scent that I had got in the crowd a few moments ago returned back to my nose, wafting into my lungs and yeesing my stomach, and I turned around as I tried to search for where that scent was coming from. It was front the front of the crowd, and I was torn between following the scent and leaving this hall like I initially wanted to do.

The most primal need ended up winning and I ended up starting to weave through the crowd. It was like the crowd was being parted for me, and like I was getting closer to the source of the scent cause it was getting stronger and stronger. It took a few seconds for me to realize that I assumed the crowd was being parted for me, when in reality, the crowd were being parted for the source of these delectable scents, because the ones emitting it had been following my own scent as well.

As they stood before me, my eyes widened as I stared up at them, right as my mouth fell open from shock. I hadn’t been sure of what to expect, I hadn’t even expected anything cause this was the last thing that I assumed would happen in today of all days.

These men were triplets as well, and they weren’t ordinary triplets— they were also princes. That explains why the crowd had parted for them, because they were popular, and I knew a little of their existence even when I was still back in my parents pack.

Tristan, Theo and Travis.

These alphas are from a pack that’s far from my parents’, but their pack was one of the most powerful around here. And for once, my parents’ pack and theirs are on good terms.

When their eyes locked with mine, they looked me over, clearly assessing me, and I felt exposed in their presence while my heart pounded away cause I didn’t even know how to react right now.

"Mate." The one standing in the middle announced and a few people around them who heard that single word, gasped loudly, then everyone began to whisper the same word to each other over and over again till they were all staring over at us.

"Um..." I started cause this felt awkward az hell and I hated that everyone was currently staring at us.

"Our mate is quite stunning, eh?" The one standing at the right side drawled out and the remaining brothers grinned while nodding, and I felt my cheeks heat up as I stared at them, unsure of how to react right now.

I could hear some of the gossips flying around this crowd right now, which was exactly why I hadn’t wanted to attract any kind of attention in here before.

"Isn’t she the mate of the triplets?"

"Yes, she was introduced to us a few days ago and was supposed to get married to them today, but the sins of her father for unveiled and now she’s being punished."

"Which serves her right, by the way."

"Of course, totally!"

"What do you think though about..." At that point, I was forced to tune the words around me out when a murmur went through the crowd, and when I whirled around, I noticed that the triplets were approaching us right now, weaving through the crowd that parted easily for them, and they didn’t look happy at all as they got even closer. Right now, a loud murmur had gone up in the air, and I was so nervous that I was finding it hard to breathe.

Instinctively, I turned around to weave through the crowd so I could slip out of here, but a hand came around my wrist, preventing that from happening and tugging me to turn back around, and when I did, I was med with the eyes of one of my new mates. He had very beautiful eyes, and the sides of his lips twitched as he tugged me closer to him.

"Where were you going, little mate? You’re yet to even introduce yourself to us." He drawled and it felt like my brain short circulated.

Again, this is an experience that’s unusual to me, cause all my life back at home, all my mates instantly used to want nothing to do with me and that they instantly want to reject me. Angelo and his brothers were my first ever set of mates where I wasn’t instantly rejected, and now these men as well.

Before I could manage to speak, the triplets were arriving, furious expressions on their faces. My hand was wrenched from the grip of the alpha who grabbed it and prevented me from leaving, by none other but Landon, and the crowd all watched this scene unfold with clear curiosity.

"What’s going on here? And during our wedding of all places?" Angelo was the first to speak, his voice filled with anger.

My new set of mates didn’t seem fazed at all as they stepped closer, and at this point, Landon had let go of my wrist.

"It’s just a coincidence that this happened right in your wedding, but we just found out mate and you know we’ve been searching for her for a while, so forgive us if we were too impatient to carry this outside." One of my new mates spoke, his hand pointing in my direction in the middle of his sentence and my eyes widened when the princes’ furious eyes settled on me for a moment.

"So, she is your mate?" Damon asked and my new set of mates nodded, lazy grins across their faces.

"Oh, yes. She is. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ll step outside with our mate, then you can return back to your wedding..." one of my new set of mates spoke, and Damon let out a scoff which surprised me tremendously.

"We’ll be doing no such thing, and you’ll not be having any sort of conversation with her, cause she’s completely off limits." Angelo spoke in a calm voice this time.

At this point, the wedding was already a mess. At the front of the stage, the new brides were still standing in the front of the priest, furious looks on their faces as they new husbands were here with me instead of being over there with them, and even the crowd was starting to demand what the problem is.

"Why not? Is it because she’s you guys’ fated mate as well? I thought that shouldn’t matter since you’re already married to different women today." One of my new mates drawled out just as the one standing beside him added.

"Exactly. And it’s also safe to assume that you’ve all rejected her as well, right?"

I bit on my bottom lip, my heart pounding hard against my ribs as Angelo seethed at those words, but to me, they were quite logical.

"You can’t take her as your mate and we didn’t reject her..." Angelo was still speaking before he trailed off, then his eyes wandered around the crowd like he just realized where he’s presently at.

When he faced my new set of mates, he suggested. "Why don’t we take this out of here? To somewhere private?"

Before my new set of mates could even respond, a voice was intrrrupting.

"Now, that won’t be necessary, would it?"

I stiffened before slowly turning around, and the person turned out to be none other than the triplets’ father.

"This is the perfect avenue to reject her, then she can even leave with her new set of mates today. Now, doesn’t that sound very brilliant?" As he spoke, he sounded earnest as fuck, but I knew better. Clearly, he only wanted to get rid of me at all cost, for reasons completely unknown me.
