Side Chapter: The Kastil Royal Princes (II)
The three young princes, upon hearing that their beloved eldest sister was going on a date, wasted no time in preparing for their mission. Summoning their servants, they ordered carriages to be readied at once.
As they arrived at the royal stables, the coachman bowed, tipping his hat with a curious smile. "Your Highnesses! It’s quite rare to see all of you gathered in one place."
The four little brothers, their expressions unusually serious, ignored the remark.
"We need a carriage. Now," one of them commanded.
The coachman hesitated briefly before nodding. "Of course... You seem to be in quite a hurry."
"To the city," another prince added, his tone urgent. "As fast as possible."

Main Road: Food District

"Ugh... I really don’t think this is a good idea, you guys. And if Father finds out we’re using his ancient artifact without permission, we’re as good as dead!" Despite their doubts, the four princes had little trouble tracking down their sister’s whereabouts. Following her trail had been almost too easy- much to their growing frustration.
"Oh that young general is such a handsome lady. Oo! If only she would take a look at my son, maybe she would be interested." An old woman swoons over Rowan, hoping that she would marry into her family instead.
The other woman agreed, continuing to reminisce with her. "You can never be too careful- women can appear to steal our old hearts too. Hohoho! Ah this takes me back to my youth... remember how we would always admire the handsome gentlemen that’s always patrolling the streets?"
"Oh I do... Now what’s happened to us? Wedded to a couple of drunks and sweet talkers."
It was... definitely too easy.
All it took was following the trail of excited whispers and hushed gossip, and they knew they were heading in the right direction.
"I know we’ll be as good as dead, but we’ll also be in a lot of trouble if they knew that we’re trying to spy on our sister. This is the only way- Do you know how awkward it would be if the four of us were caught?" (Prince Altier) grits his teeth, he was the leading prince in their undercover mission. "This is why I took our father’s cloak."
The Shadowveil Cloak, the ancient artifact currently owned by King Aswold Kastil. It draped over the wearer like liquid dusk, its fabric shifting between shades of deep indigo and smoky gray, as if stitched from the very essence of twilight. When pulled close, the edges of the cloak seemed to dissolve into the air, rendering its owner little more than a whisper in the wind.
A relic of old, the cloak had belonged to the Kastil Royal Family for generations, passed down in secrecy among the rulers and their most trusted kin. Legends whispered that it was woven by an ancient order of shadow-weavers who sought to walk unseen between realms. The Shadowveil did not merely hide its wearer from sight- it silenced their steps, softened their breath, and blurred their very presence from the minds of those nearby.
Even under the glaring sun, the figure beneath appeared hazy, as if reality itself hesitated to acknowledge them. In the hands of a skilled royal, the cloak was more than just an artifact; it was a weapon, a key, and a guardian of the family’s most hidden secrets.
"He’ll only kill us if he finds out we’re using it. So, the solution is simple- no one snitches!" (Prince Montiel) declared, fully backing their little escapade.
The four princes huddled beneath the Shadowveil Cloak, their bodies pressed uncomfortably close as they tried to stay within its shrouding effect.
"Ugh, scooch over! I need some air," The youngest prince grumbled, shifting against the others.
Prince Montiel rolled his eyes. "Adiel, why did you even come if you think this is a bad idea?"
Prince Adiel forced a grin. "Because I refuse to let you idiots have fun without me." In truth, he thought his brothers were fools- but he’d be an even bigger fool if he missed out on whatever chaos they were about to unleash.
"I can’t believe this woman just waltzed into our sister’s life and took her away... We don’t even know what kind of person she is," (Prince Lucas) muttered, eyes narrowing as they spied on the unfolding date.

A few minutes later...
===
"Wait there they are!" The figures of the Crimson General and the princess stood out unmistakably. They strolled through the bustling streets, stopping at every food stall that caught their eye, sampling treats with the eagerness of wanderers who hadn’t eaten in days.
Of course, even the princes were not immune to the tantalizing aromas filling the air.
"I haven’t eaten yet, but these food stalls smell absolutely heavenly..." (Prince Adiel) didn’t get to eat breakfast because of this... his stomach has been punishing him by making loud gurgling noises.
"Ugh, the smell of meat- it’s making me nauseous," (Prince Lucas) groaned, wrinkling his nose.
"Oh, right. I forgot you’re a vegetarian, what a shame you can’t enjoy all of this." His twin brother teased with a smirk.
They moved carefully, weaving through the bustling food district in a practiced formation, ensuring they remained unnoticed. With each step, they avoided bumping into passersby, inching closer to their target while staying hidden beneath the cloak’s shrouding veil.
"Mm! This skewered meat is really good! It’s doused in some special sauce and it was only two silvers a piece." From the way the meat looked you would think it was burnt, but that was only the sauce- the meat was quite tender and juicy.
"You’re right... The capital city’s food district is good. I would like twenty more of these please but you wrap it to go, miss?" (Rowan) took out some money from her pouch, counting the silver coins until she got the right amount.
The stall vendor who notices the bright red hair on her head, she squints her eyes trying to make sure if she was right. "I know who you are! You’re the great crimson general that defeated the demon lord!" Her voice was a little too loud.
All the other store vendors noticed her presence, beginning to gossip and smile.
Prince Altier that the crimson general’s popularity amongst the commoners is high, "Her influence over the people is astounding."
Rowan swallows the lump forming in her throat, being forced to reveal herself because of her red hair. "A-Ah yes, that’s me. It is nice to meet you. I am the crimson general, General Rowan Bonheur."
"I knew it! I think you’re the only red head I’ve ever seen in Polma City! This is on me! Please take it, no need to pay!" She grins happily- flipping over the cooked meat, the war is over thanks to this girl she was very thankful for her great leadership and sacrifices.
"T-Thank you."
With a last thank you, the stall vendor got to work cooking her requested meat.
"Did you see that- she’s flirting with the meat vendor while in front of our sister!"
"Goodness, what if our sister has been met with the fate of a player."
"All of you are overreacting, the kind lady is just giving her some free food."
When Rowan ordered twenty pieces of meat, all of the princes were shocked to hear that. They all wondered if her appetite was even larger than a man’s but breathed a sigh of relief after knowing it wasn’t meant for herself.
"Oh... she just gave the meat to the royal guards and saluted? She’s humble... I’ll give her that."
"I suppose she’s not that bad. Living amongst both years in nobility and in the common cities, experiencing the hardships of being a soldier must’ve shaped her into a proper selfless leader."
When Rowan came back to Princess Camille with a worried look, she was surprised that her highness had given her an apple candy for a treat.
"..."
Rowan looked so happy getting such a simple thing from their older sister, like she was really in love.
The two walked forward while eating, the four princes prompted to follow.
"Alright, let’s continue following them and make sure our elder sister is safe." (Prince Altier) ushers his brothers but realizes that one of them is missing.
"Wait a minute, where’s Adiel?"
Meanwhile...
Prince Adiel was casually walking around garnering curious looks from passersby as he was obviously someone of high status wandering looking at the same meat the two love birds had ordered.
"Two pieces of whatever that red haired girl ordered, please." He thought by ordering the same meat he would understand the two even better. The same meat vendor turned and was about to greet him enthusiastically but was blinded by his beauty, the love interests of the story still retained their charm at least.
"Wha... ah... hello..."
Prince Adiel ignores her, "My order?"
"Oh right! Your order! I’m sorry! C-Coming right up!" She hastily prepared everything as his brothers appeared behind him, tugging his collar.
"What are you doing you brat? You’re ordering without us?! Also you’re revealing yourself!" (Prince Altier) scolds him but his little brother just shrugs giving a good reason.
"So? I mean they’re far away right now and I’m hungry. Don’t you guys want to try whatever they ate? It all seemed good." He pointed at the meat cooking in front of them, the smell made it impossible to deny that he was right.
Growl...
Everyone except Prince Lucas who was a vegetarian had their stomach grumbling.
"Can you tell the meat vendor to add two more pieces?" (Prince Altier) tugs his little brother’s sleeve still hiding in their invisible cloak.
"I’ll take three." (Prince Montiel) holds up three of his fingers.
Prince Adiel sighs rolling his eyes and asks the meat vendor to add more meat into his order before they follow two into their date. It was certainly an adventure for all of them.
They watched from afar as the two travelled in different places. Like to a specific castle wall that has money inside the pouch, they couldn’t see how much but after it was revealed to be platinum coins they riot.
"How did our elder sister even manage to get such a rare currency? Does that mean that pouch has more money and our kingdom treasury?!" (Prince Adiel)
"This... how did they even know such a thing was casually laying behind a rock." (Prince Montiel)
"I’ve known our elder sister to be rather peculiar but... is this the reason why those years before she really wanted to walk amongst the commoners- could this be the true reason why?" (Prince Altier)
They followed them to the bank, then at the shop where the two bought clothes together.
They could see the two of them picking clothes for each other, Princess Camille holds out a blouse as she frowns looking unsatisfied with the one she picked for Rowan.
Rowan stands still like an obedient puppy, waiting for the princess to pick out whatever she wants for her. "Aw... I know we’re spying on them on the window but come on. Elder sister’s blushing face is such a rare thing to see- none of her past courtship worked after all." (Prince Altier) mutters.
Prince Lucas nods, "She would always reject them for some reason."
And then to the [Dregs].
They barely caught up to them, their legs a little tired from all the walk.
"Hah... I don’t even remember why we decided to follow the two of them. It seems that the crimson general is a good person, and our elder sister likes her a lot too." (Prince Altier) looked up and saw that Rowan was staring in their direction. "Wait... does she see us-"
"..."
The crimson general places a hand on her sword, focusing and glaring at the corner of the carriage.
"Blast it! She knows where we are!" The four of them lowered their heads, fearing that she’d swing at where they were hiding.
"Psst- Rowan, do you feel that too?" The other man on the horse asks the general.
"Mm... we’re being watched. I’m not sure how far they are from us, I can’t sense their presence... I hope that I’m not wrong." (Rowan) orders the royal guards to keep their guard up, not only the crimson general has noticed their hidden presence but her right hand man as well?!
"Make sure that we stay on high alert." She continued.
The four princes decided to stay a bit farther away because of her high perception skills. This was a big deal, what they were using was a very rare ancient cloak that not even the best assassins can detect their presence-
The rest of the royal guards aren’t even aware but for these two to notice them is...
"This woman and the other one are dangerous."
As the road got deeper, they were almost at the main area of the Dregs.
The four princes decided to go home because of the danger that they felt coming from the crimson general. They went back into the carriage and ordered it to go back to the palace.
"..." Everyone was at an utter silence, chilling at what Rowan’s skill of perception did. If she did not hesitate to swing, they would’ve died then.
Prince Adiel was the first one to speak. "Well... it’s best to say that our elder sister will be safe in her care. She... felt more like a beast than a human when she held her sword."
"If that man beside her did not distract her for a moment, I feared that we would’ve died." (Prince Montiel) shivers at the thought but respects her talent for weeding out anyone trying to sneak up on them. "She’s awesome!"
Ding!
