Chapter 21: Their First Date (I).
A fast blurry figure of the now former crown princess could be seen running, she was quick to take a shower- dry her hair with a towel and putting on simple make up for the morning.
Why, you ask?
"...!"
Knock! Knock!
"Come in."
Princess Camille doesn’t bother on greeting the King who was drinking his tea as he finishes his paperwork that needed some editing. He notices his uninvited guest and sighs, after all these years of studying etiquette and manners this daughter of his doesn’t even bother saying goodmorning like her fiance.
"Father is General Rowan here?" She asks straight up and the King focuses his attention on his daughter with a light mood.
"Oh- you came looking for her, huh." (King Aswold) clicks his tongue, the young general has been with him for almost an hour and she just excused herself a few minutes ago after many exchanged tales about his daughter. "Pfft- Hahaha!"
Seeing his daughter now made the King remember one really hilarious line.
"I am... not sure if the crown princess and I are able to give you full blooded grandchildren, your majesty but I will work hard. How many grandchildren do you want, father?"
Oh that was gold! Her innocent face and the tone of her voice sounded really serious!
King Aswold only meant to tease the young general but damn! If she really plans on giving him many grandchildren to spoil then it would be a delight.
Princess Camille takes a few steps back away from King Aswold, fearing his laughter. This stone cold man is laughing- she’s known him all of her life and not once did he laugh so heartily like this. "W-Why are you laughing father?"
"Nothing my child, I just wanted to let you know that you’ve landed at such great luck. Your father has never seen anyone who made him laugh this much." He wipes the happy tear from the side of his eyes before continuing. "And you just missed her a few minutes ago, she told me that she’s going to prepare something for you before you leave home."
’She’s going to prepare something for me? I guess even the system is keeping it a secret because I’m not getting any notification right now.’ She was itching to check the windows, but stopped after remembering that Rowan was able to see them last time.
What if other people are able to see the floating windows too?
Rowan could see them the last time she opened it, should she risk it?
’No, I shouldn’t risk it. I’ll open my status windows only when I’m private.’
"Did she tell you what it is?"
"She did tell me what it is but where’s the fun in telling you? That young one, make sure to never let that one go." He scoffs.
The King will be disappointed in his own daughter if she lets this one go. At the age of eighteen, she marched into the military, not as a mere recruit, but as a force of nature. A prodigy in strategy, a born leader, and a warrior with an unshakable will—she did not simply follow the path of greatness; she carved it with her own hands.
Her two years at the academy became the stuff of legend. The first woman to graduate as valedictorian, she shattered records, defied expectations, and left behind a legacy that cadets would whisper about for generations. But she did not stop there. With unwavering resolve, she built her own battalion- handpicked, fiercely loyal, and bound not by duty alone, but by the sheer gravity of her leadership.
To command respect on the battlefield was one thing. To inspire absolute devotion was another. She did both.
And if that wasn’t enough to make history, well... It was certainly enough to make an Asian mother proud.
"Father what do you mean by that-"
"Ah would you look at the time! I have work to do so go on and find her on your own." He snaps his fingers and soon the guards that were outside of the office escort the princess out.
"Hey!"
The guards cast their heads down feeling bad that they had to take the princess out of their father’s office. "My apologies, your highness but we would like for you to follow us outside by the orders of his majesty."
Thud!
The door closes in on her and the two guards stations back to their respective posts.
Princess Camille crosses her arms and starts stomping her feet in annoyance with her own father who’s too good at keeping secrets. "Gah! Stupid old man and his stupid old tricks! I swear when I’m out of here we’ll see who’ll be missing who."
The two guards tried their best not to laugh, seeing the crown princess walk away stomping so angrily is such a rare scene.
Well, now that her father is useless to find the heroine’s location- she needed to ask around.
"Hmph."
The moment she leaves out of earshot, it was the guards’ turn to gossip. Oh the royal high life was truly something, these past days was nothing but a circulation of rumors and stories about those two.
"I can’t believe this is a love story worth turning into a novel, the princess and the general are both meant for each other." The guard on the right was basically their new fanboy of the ship.
His friend on the other hand shakes his head looking disgusted. "Stop saying that nonsense, sooner or later the princess will get fed up and find a man who’ll satisfy her needs."
The guard on the right disagrees. "Haven’t you seen the two of them spending time together around the castle?! You’d be a fool not to see them being in love!"
While the guards were arguing, the princess was now in the hunt for a red-handed girl doing God knows what.
"May I ask if you know the whereabouts of General Rowan Bonheur? Red hair and eyes, really tall and beautiful- her face is full of scars?" (Princess Camille) had to stop a few servants walking around the hallways.
The servants looked at each other and shrugged not knowing where this general was.
"N-No your highness, my apologies but we haven’t seen her around." The maid turns to her co-workers, checking to see if they’ve seen the general that the princess is looking for.
"We’ve just been doing our jobs. We’ll keep an eye out for you, your highness."
"Aye, speaking of which we wish you luck on finding her your highness but we must get back to our task at hand."
The servants excused themselves, still no sign of Rowan.
"Many thanks." She gave them her thanks before deciding to move onto the next batch of servants to question when-
"Where are you off to, eldest sister?"
"...?"
One of her brothers caught her attention, there standing with a bright colored blonde hair and having an aura of a love interest-
It was the youngest son of the royal family, Prince Adiel Kastil.
"Oh it’s just you." She groans, placing a hand to her waist as she faces her little brother, probably looking to put his nose on other people’s business.
"Indeed, is everything alright? I saw you running through the halls in a state of panic. I am worried that something bad has happened." (Prince Adiel) was half concerned and half curious.
"It’s just- I am trying to find General Rowan Bonheur. Have you seen her around these halls?"
"I did greet her before she quickly excused herself with the biggest smile on her face. Honestly, I thought that girl is incapable of smiling." (Prince Adiel) didn’t know how to feel about Rowan Bonheur.
At first when their father introduced them to her as a reward, everyone was completely shocked that each of the princes were turned down.
Even when they tried interacting with her at the party for three days and nights it was always met with a cold nod and short reply.
"She smiles a lot when it comes to me though." (Princess Camille) was low-key flexing it to her brother, that hah! Imagine all of them lined up and the heroine chose none of them!
And she knows there’s bets going around on who Rowan was going to choose out of the four of the princes. No one won, because the true winner was the beautiful- former crown princess Camille Nyle Kastil.
"Perhaps around you, after all out of all the handsome princes that were offered in prospects of marriage- she must’ve chosen you for a reason. My ugly and brute sister can’t compare to us." (Prince Adiel) shakes his head, wanting to tease more of his eldest sister.
Because news has spread that their beloved eldest will be leaving the nest to be with the Crimson General.
"...you’re lucky I’m in a rush. Just tell me where she went please, Adiel."
Prince Adiel gives up and points in the direction where Rowan went. "She went that way, she told me that forgot something and that she needed to go get it."
"Thank you!" She quickly thanks her little brother and leaves.
Prince Adiel was about to meet up with his other siblings to talk about their eldest sister’s marriage, to see if Rowan was even fitting to be paired to be with Princess Camille.
"Hmph, that Rowan Bonheur better not hurt our eldest sister. Then again, I haven’t seen her this happy since we got her a puppy. I’ll give her a proper thanks once we meet once more."
...
"Rowan... Rowan... where did you go?" (Princess Camille) had to walk fast on her heels, she wanted to see Rowan as soon as she could for some reason. "..."
Yet many minutes of walking there was still no sign of the red-haired girl.
"I swear if my brother is just leading me to a wild goose chase he’s going to like what my fist will do for him-" She balls her hands into a fist and didn’t know that someone was on the other side of the hall.
