Chapter 481: Chapter 479: Everyone is Happy

Such bandits on the wanted list, and yet Qian Dahao dared to communicate with them, even bribing them to cause harm.

If this situation were to be leaked, even if Qian Dahao had backers, he would probably still suffer a great deal.

It was because of this that Wang Yongzhu was confident she could pressure Qian Dahao into writing a guarantee letter.

Now Madam Yu had indeed given her a hand, and she believed that if Madam Yu knew the inside story, she probably could keep Qian Dahao in check, right?

Indeed, Madam Yu’s complexion changed immediately, and it took her a long time to recover her senses. She bowed to Wang Yongzhu and said, "Young lady! Thank you! You have saved the lives of my mother and two children! I, Yu Yulan, will remember this great favor in my heart! I will not speak any superfluous words. I understand what you mean, young lady. Rest assured, as long as I, Yu Yulan, am here, no one will dare to touch the Wang Family’s business!"

Wang Yongzhu knew Madam Yu was no simple character, but she hadn’t expected her to understand the situation so quickly.

As the two of them exchanged smiles, they both felt a sense of kindred spirits.

Song Chongjin, who had been standing on the side watching this scene, found it very grating on the eyes, and coughed to signal Wang Yongzhu that it was time to leave.

Wang Yongzhu nodded toward Madam Yu to take her leave.

Turning her head, she saw Boss Ma and his men about to be handed over to Madam Yu.

Song Chongjin stepped forward and said, "I reckon Madam Yu still has matters to attend to today and probably doesn’t have the leisure to settle Boss Ma and his men. How about this: I have a place in town not far from here where we can detain them for now. When Madam Yu frees up some time, she can deal with them later!"

Madam Yu was taken aback, having noticed Song Chongjin earlier, and she had inwardly praised him, thinking what a fine young man he was.

She had a daughter, about ten years old by now.

With time on her hands, Madam Yu had already begun to concern herself with her daughter’s marriage affairs. The moment she saw Song Chongjin, her eyes lit up; if not for this pressing matter, she would have loved to inquire whether Song Chongjin was betrothed, and if he had any brothers at home if he was.

Later, as she watched him while she was talking business with the Wang Family Young Lady, she noticed that he never took his eyes off the young lady, so there was nothing unclear to her.

Now that he had spoken up, Madam Yu hesitated and then looked inquiringly at Wang Yongzhu.

Although Wang Yongzhu didn’t know why Song Chongjin had made that suggestion, since he was one of her own, she naturally had to support him.

She nodded and said, "This is my fiancé, Song Chongjin. Fortunately, he reminded me that today you, sister Yu, probably have more urgent matters to attend to. Once those are resolved, these are all minor issues."

Madam Yu looked at them both with a complex expression for a long while before saying, "Then I’ll entrust this to the two of you!"

Only then did Wang Yongzhu bid farewell, leading her entourage away from the Qian Family residence with grandeur.

No sooner had Wang Yongzhu left than Madam Yu could not wait any longer, instructing her people to prop the broken door against the wall, leaving it ajar, and to guard the entrance well.

Then she rushed into the courtyard at a fast pace.

Before long, a dreadful scream resonated from within the Qian Family mansion, a voice all too familiar— it was Qian Dahao.

Having not gone far, Wang Yongzhu heard this and, thinking of Madam Yu’s temperament, silently lit a row of candles for Qian Dahao in her heart.

Upon reaching the street corner, Wang Yongzhu conferred with Song Chongjin, and they went their separate ways.

Wang Yongzhu took the Wang Family Clan People back to Qilidun, while Song Chongjin went to settle Boss Ma and his men.

On the way, the Wang Family Clan People did not show a shred of fatigue. They had eaten well for dinner at the Qian Family, with enough white steamed buns and plenty of large meat chunks, all eating until their bellies were round.

Furthermore, with Madam Yu’s promise of one silver ingot for the expenses of recuperating for the injured, they were all incredibly excited.

The uninjured ones regretted deeply; had they known that a mere scratch could earn them a silver ingot, they too would have scraped a bit of skin. Wherever they wanted a scratch, they would have scratched; however many places they wanted, they could have done so!

Wang Yongzhu, fully understanding their thoughts, hurriedly said, "I’ve troubled all the older brothers today, rest assured, not just the brothers who got injured will have one silver ingot, but the uninjured brothers will too."

The Wang Family Clan People were all overjoyed, verbally demurring at first but soon acquiescing half-heartedly.

Upon return to Qilidun, it was already midnight.

The Wang Family people, except for a few children who couldn’t stay awake, hadn’t gone to bed yet.

The other members of the Wang Family, also worried about their own children, had gathered at the Wang Family’s place, chatting and waiting.

Once everyone had arrived, they first let out a sigh of relief and were about to bid farewell to head home.

Wang Yongzhu stopped them, and handed out one silver tael to each helping member of the Wang Family Clan on the spot.

Lady Yu was extremely thoughtful. She prepared two hundred taels of silver, including large silver notes and also twenty silver ingots, presumably for this very occasion.

The helping families, seeing how their sons and men had been troubled all night, initially harbored some resentment. But once they saw the silver, all the complaints vanished, replaced by joy.

Such good fortune was worth staying up for a whole day and night.

The Wang Family Clan people dispersed happily.

Only then did Wang Yongzhu find a moment to ask, "How’s Third Brother? Has he woken up?"

Old Granny Zhang rolled her eyes, "He woke up not long after you all left, just complaining of a headache. After drinking three bowls of meat porridge, he went right to sleep."

Wang Yongzhu finally felt relieved. She had rushed back to town from the county early in the morning, hurried to Qilidun upon receiving the news, and then made another trip to and from town. Such toil would wear anyone out.

Fatigue then showed on her face.

Wang Laozhu was about to inquire about the situation, but before he could open his mouth, Old Granny Zhang interrupted him, "Alright, it’s late. Haven’t you seen how tired Zhuzhu has been all day? Can’t the many things and words wait until tomorrow morning? Off to bed, everyone!"

Seeing that Wang Yongzhu was indeed exhausted, no one dared to say more and they all returned to their rooms.

Wang Laozhu received a glaring eye-rolling, and Old Granny Zhang didn’t bother with him either.

She hurried Wang Yongzhu back to her room, personally warmed up some water, let Wang Yongzhu wash up and urged her to go to bed.

Wang Yongzhu fell asleep nearly as soon as she touched the bed.

Old Granny Zhang tenderly tucked Wang Yongzhu in, then took the water out with light steps, poured it out, and closed the door gently before returning to her own room.

As soon as she entered, she saw Wang Laozhu glaring at her, which startled her.

Patting her chest, she glared back at Wang Laozhu, "You old man, who are you trying to scare with your eyes wide open in the middle of the night? Get out of the way, I’m going to sleep!"

With that, she climbed into bed, spread out the covers, and went to sleep herself.

Wang Yongzhu slept soundly through the night and woke up as daylight had already broken.

There was already movement in the courtyard, with everyone keeping their voices low.

Suddenly, a voice called out, "Xiao Lian—Xiao Lian—your man’s awake now, got a headache, and an empty stomach. Why isn’t breakfast ready yet?"

Wang Yonggui’s voice was full of vigor, indicating he was fine.

Wang Yongzhu smiled and got out of bed.

Just as she was about to go out to wash up, she heard Old Granny Zhang scolding loudly in the courtyard, "Early in the morning, are you calling for souls or wailing at a funeral? With such a loud voice, why don’t you go join the opera? Didn’t your sister tire herself out because of you last night, coming back after midnight? Can’t you let her sleep a little longer? Has there ever been a meal missed? Will you starve to death if you wait a bit? If you moan again, see how I deal with you!"

Then followed Wang Yonggui’s voice, low and laughing in an attempt to placate her.

And there was Wang Yongfu, carefully trying to speak up for Wang Yonggui.

Wang Yongzhu hurried out, "Mom, it’s okay, I’m up! Third Brother, are you alright?" She said, looking carefully at Wang Yonggui’s complexion, which seemed to be fine.
