Chapter 380: Chapter 380: I’ll Take Care of It
Lady Sun was so stunned by the hit that she stared blankly at Wang Yonggui for a long while before she could regain her senses.
Is this what a man does? Which man wouldn’t go berserk upon finding out his woman had been taken advantage of, as if he’d had his ancestral tomb desecrated?
Yet Wang Yonggui actually blamed himself?
Even Wang Yongfu was dumbfounded; he had not been able to clear things up and had thought that he might end up having a rift with Laosan over this.
But with Laosan acting like this, it made him feel even more ashamed.
He calmed down and was about to start explaining.
Seeing that things were going south, Lady Sun furrowed her brows, covered her face, and sprang up from the ground, charging outside: "Sanlang, I have misjudged you! I never imagined you could be this kind of person! Your eldest brother cuckolded you, and you actually blame me? Are you disgusted with me? What’s the point of my living on? I might as well be dead—"
Crying, she ran outside.
Her movements were so swift that Wang Laosan didn’t have time to react before she had dashed out of the room.
At the door was only Wang Yongping. Seeing Lady Sun charging towards him, his first reaction was to step aside.
Lady Sun took the opportunity to run out of the room and towards the yard’s gate.
Just as she reached the gate and felt a surge of relief thinking that she could run away...
She saw two figures blocking the entrance.
Wang Yongzhu and Song Chongjin stood firmly at the gate, wrinkling their brows and asking, "What’s going on?"
Having come to their senses, Wang Yongfu and Wang Yonggui had already pursued her outside, and Lady Lin also hurried out. In a few words, they roughly explained the situation.
Lady Sun knelt on the ground, covering her face crying, and kept exclaiming she didn’t want to live anymore.
Wang Yongfu appeared uneasy as he looked at Wang Yongzhu’s grave face: "Little sister, what should we do now?"
Wang Yongzhu sneered coldly and told Song Chongjin, "Make her stop crying; it’s giving me a headache."
Song Chongjin picked up a small pebble, flicked it with her finger, and it hit some acupoint on Lady Sun’s body—she immediately became unable to make a sound.
Not only was Lady Sun shocked and fearful, but the expressions of the Wang Family members had also changed.
"Don’t you know family scandals should not be aired in public? Why cause such a scene? Go, find a rope, tie up Lady Sun, and throw her into her room for now. We’ll see how to deal with her when dad and mom come back tonight," Wang Yongzhu ordered.
At this moment, where dared Wang Yongfu linger near Lady Sun, he quickly avoided suspicion and stepped aside.
It was Lady Lin who found a rope and tied Lady Sun up tightly before throwing her into her room.
Having stopped crying and yelling, the atmosphere in the courtyard became silent and awkward.
When Wang Yongzhu checked her room, she found it in complete disarray—blood and medicinal paste smeared everywhere, a nauseating sight.
Frowning, she came out to see everyone still gathered in the yard, watching her, which thoroughly displeased her: "What are you staring at? Why aren’t you out working in the fields?"
Wang Yongfu, Wang Yonggui, and Lady Lin immediately scattered like birds and beasts, running towards the fields.
Only Wang Yongping remained, he scratched the back of his head: "I... I’ll go to the gate..." Leaning on his crutch, he quickly slipped out.
Song Chongjin, who seldom saw Wang Yongzhu this angry, found it quite novel and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Wang Yongzhu huffed, "My room has been sullied by them—"
Song Chongjin had never before entered Wang Yongzhu’s boudoir. Hearing this now, her interest piqued, yet she maintained a composed facade as she stepped forward and walked into Wang Yongzhu’s room. Upon seeing the mess, she too frowned slightly.
"These are too filthy; I’ll clean up. You go cook," Song Chongjin said as she pushed Wang Yongzhu out of the room.
Wang Yongzhu, who naturally had a slight obsession with cleanliness, felt uncomfortable at the sight of the mess. Seeing that someone volunteered to tidy up was more than welcome.
Without any objection, she began to unload the things from the carriage and brought them to the kitchen to put away.
Old Granny Zhang hadn’t been cleaning up for long when she hurried back home, anxious and flustered.
After asking Wang Yongping at the door, she headed straight to the kitchen upon arrival. Seeing Wang Yongzhu was getting ready to cook, she quickly took over, "Girl, are you alright? Did you get upset? Take a rest, Mother will do it!" and she seized the work from Wang Yongzhu’s hands.
"Mother, why have you come back?" Wang Yongzhu was taken aback.
At this, Old Granny Zhang became angry.
Wang Yongfu and his brothers, along with Lady Lin, came back from the fields with an unhealthy look on their faces. Old Granny Zhang, being a shrewd woman, knew for sure that something had happened.
She grabbed Lady Lin and questioned her.
Lady Lin was feeling uncertain. The situation had escalated, and what was most important was that it had agitated her sister-in-law.
Previously, no matter what, her sister-in-law would always have a smile on her face. But now that her sister-in-law’s expression had changed, Lady Lin felt as if the sky was falling.
Upon being questioned by Old Granny Zhang, she confessed truthfully.
Old Granny Zhang was so angry she almost suffered a mishap.
Yet, within the span of just two hours, they had stirred up so much trouble?
Especially after hearing that her oldest daughter looked unwell, which was a matter of utmost concern, she lost any desire to continue working in the fields and hurried home immediately.
Upon arriving and seeing her daughter busy in the kitchen, with no signs of annoyance on her face, she felt relieved.
"I heard from Eldest Brother’s family that you seemed to have gotten upset, so I was worried and came back to check on you. How come you’re alone? Did Chongjin go home?" Old Granny Zhang asked.
"No, he’s helping me clean up the house," Wang Yongzhu answered.
"What?" Old Granny Zhang couldn’t help but wonder if she had heard wrong.
"My room was covered in blood and medicinal paste, it looked disgusting. Song Chongjin is cleaning it up for me," Wang Yongzhu explained very calmly.
The expression on Old Granny Zhang’s face was quite something to behold at that moment.
She didn’t know whether to say her daughter was carefree or to say that the Song Family Boy had truly fallen into her daughter’s hands.
In all her years, she had never seen a man so eager to clean up a woman’s house.
But, since the person taking advantage of the situation was her own daughter, then it must be normal.
With this thought, Old Granny Zhang became composed.
She even went to the front of Wang Yongzhu’s door with renewed interest to take a look. Sure enough, Song Chongjin was using a shovel to scrape off the dirt that was mixed with bloodstains and the medicinal paste from the ground.
She nodded in satisfaction.
Old Granny Zhang had made quite a noise coming to check, and Song Chongjin had known about it for a while. Nevertheless, he felt a bit embarrassed since, after all, this was Yongzhu’s boudoir. Even though he had a reason, he was afraid that Old Granny Zhang might think less of him.
So he was nervously silent.
After taking a glance, Old Granny Zhang went back to the kitchen to help out.
Only then did Song Chongjin relax.
He carefully surveyed Wang Yongzhu’s room, which was as tidy as any other girl’s and very clean.
Song Chongjin thought he would detect what the books described as the so-called fragrance of a daughter, isn’t it called a fragrant bower?
However, all he smelled was a mix of medicine and the smell of blood. Although the dirt had been removed, the odor had not yet dissipated, and it was quite unpleasant.
Song Chongjin hurriedly opened the window to air out the room and, after thinking for a bit, took out a tiny, fingertip-sized black pellet from his pouch and gently crumbled it.
Immediately, a rich, indescribable scent of musk filled the room, masking the unpleasant odors.
In a little while, the musk’s aroma faded, leaving only a light, refreshing hint of grass and wood, very pleasant to the senses.
