Chapter 239: Forced to Drink Alcohol
Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Forced to Drink Alcohol
To tell you the truth, even if the company didn’t sign the contract today, Yunshen would be able to find the next one.
After all, the corporate culture of Bo Group isn’t something to brag about!
In the private room of Ritz-Carlton, the seating was an arc-shaped sofa joined together. Yunshen was insistent on leaving, but Qin Yan blocked the way out of the sofa without any intention of moving.
"Move!"
Qin Yan’s eyelids twitched but she didn’t budge. The next second, the world spun around.
Yunshen bent down, picked up Qin Yan horizontally, and casually tossed her onto the sofa behind him.
The sofa was a bit hard, and her back ached from the impact.
Yunshen loosened his collar and took a step forward, just as Zhou Ruo came in.
"Mr. Bo," Mr. Bo, the other party is on their way here, but... a minor car accident happened on Guang Ming Road, and they are stuck in traffic..."
Yunshen didn’t stop his pace, and Zhou Ruo panicked a bit, "Mr. Bo, it’s usually Brother Xu who deals with them, but they said... nobody’s answering Brother Xu’s phone..."
Yunshen’s pace halted and Zhou Ruo finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Mr. Bo, it’s my oversight, I should have contacted the other party immediately after understanding the situation from Brother Xu."
"They’ll arrive soon, they’re about to get to the hotel."
Yunshen frowned, his gaze indifferent, said, "Since that’s the case, you and Director Qin stay and talk."
Zhou Ruo didn’t dare make a sound. Many people in the company had been working overtime for this project. She feared that she might mess it up due to her fault, her gaze anxiously turned to Qin Yan.
But Qin Yan had no intention of helping at all.
"I’m not particularly proficient with contract negotiations, I’ll have Lu Yi come over."
With one sentence, Qin Yan cast a deep shadow over the depths of Yunshen’s eyes.
Qin Yan couldn’t seem to speak three sentences without mentioning Lu Yi. Could she not survive without him?
"Director Lu was late this morning, and the HR department has issued a notice, publicly criticizing those who were late. At this moment, he probably isn’t in the mood for negotiations."
"Director Qin is different, with your way of handling men, securing a contract will certainly be no trouble at all."
After speaking, Yunshen simply left.
Now in the private room, only Zhou Ruo and Qin Yan were left.
"Director Qin, this..."
Qin Yan gestured, signaling Zhou Ruo to quiet down a bit, "You shouldn’t feel pressured. It’s right for Mr. Bo to leave at this time. When cooperating, we can’t afford to appear too submissive."
Zhou Ruo nodded.
Although that was said, it wasn’t good to appear too dominant either, so she had become the person who had to make preparations at the last minute.
Ten minutes later, the prospective partners arrived belatedly.
Dishes began to arrive in the private room. The negotiator from the other side was a man, in his thirties or forties, of medium build, with an ordinary face, yet occasionally, a shrewd glint flashed across his eyes.
Qin Yan scowled.
She knew this man; he was notorious in their circle for his love of beauty, a well-known second-generation heir.
She sighed. Qin Yan suddenly regretted the unreasonable words she had blurted out in her anger on the phone with Yunshen this morning.
Otherwise, Yunshen might not have left her with this thorny task.
"Director Qin, sorry, sorry, the Lin arrived late."
Qin Yan smiled politely, "Mr. Lin, don’t mention it, please have a seat."
She pushed the documents towards Mr. Lin, whispering, "Mr. Lin, please review the draft we’ve prepared for our cooperation. If there’s anything you can’t accept, just let me know first..."
"Sure, but Director Qin, let’s have something to eat first. We can talk about the partnership after we dine, there’s no rush."
"Yes, my lack of consideration."
Mr. Lin was always smiling, he casually picked at some dishes, lifting the glass in front of him and inching closer to Qin Yan, "Director Qin, although you don’t blame me, I still arrived late. How about this, I’ll toast to you."
Qin Yan hesitated, then clinked glasses with Mr. Lin.
"Mr. Lin, I’m not good with alcohol and I need your understanding later on."
Mr. Lin still smiled and nodded.
The light in the hotel wasn’t good, and with the curtains undrawn, the warm lighting indoors sculpted Qin Yan’s face to resemble a fresh gardenia.
Interchanging toasts in the room, Qin Yan tried to bring the topic back to the partnership, but Mr. Lin, well-versed in business, was able to deflect her subjects effortlessly.
Instead, it was Qin Yan who, under various excuses, was made to drink quite a bit.
While they were talking, suddenly a hand landed on her thigh.
The smile on Qin Yan’s face froze, and she shifted to the side; after all, in this kind of setting, it was hard to avoid some physical contact sitting close to one another.
The next second, Mr. Lin pushed his glass towards Qin Yan again.
Qin Yan resisted, propping her head with one hand, whispering softly, "I can’t, I’ve had enough. Mr. Lin promised to look after me; you can’t go back on your word!"
Mr. Lin’s eyebrows rose, and the slyness in his eyes flashed momentarily.
"All right, I feel a natural affinity with Director Qin. Not just drinking for you, at this time, whatever you say, I will comply."
Without hesitation, Mr. Lin took the glass and finished it off.
Zhou Ruo breathed a sigh of relief. Although Qin Yan was smelling of alcohol, thankfully, she wasn’t foolish and was managing the situation quite well.
That Mr. Lin, his gaze at Director Qin was lecherous.
She was worried that Director Qin might be taken advantage of.
Just as a smile formed on her face, Mr. Lin picked up the bottle and filled Qin Yan’s glass again.
"Director Qin, if I may ask, who is handling the partnership negotiations today?"
Qin Yan: "..."
"I won’t make things difficult for you. After we’ve eaten and drunk our fill, just bring out the contract. If it’s reasonable, we sign and leave!"
"You have to work this afternoon, Director Qin. Here, I drink to you, wishing us a pleasant future collaboration..."
...
Xu Lin found the place by noon.
The sun outside was intense, the light fierce, making it hard for Xu Lin to open his eyes.
He pursed his lips, double-checking the gate and address before finally stepping in.
In the lobby reception, a young lad sat, not too old. When Xu Lin entered, the lad was engrossed in playing League of Legends, pushing towards the enemy’s second tower.
He was so into his game, he didn’t even look up when Xu Lin came in.
Xu Lin knitted his brows, approached the reception, and hesitantly inquired after verifying the lad’s identity.
The lad finally lifted his eyelids, "Doing a paternity test? Is everything prepared?"
Xu Lin nodded.
Chewing his gum, the lad sized up Xu Lin with a look up and down, "You don’t look like someone who would have children."
Xu Lin kept in mind Yunshen’s orders to keep this matter confidential. He maintained a polite smile, "You don’t look like someone who likes to play League of Legends, either!"
