The Cold-hearted CEO's Unwanted Bride
Chapter 174: Is Qin Yan Dead?

Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Is Qin Yan Dead?

Qin Yan held her breath, a trace of embarrassment crossing her face as she defended herself for the first time:

"What could I possibly want? My leg is injured, my walking speed has slowed, I can’t choose another path or seek shelter from the rain! Fifteen minutes, you might be able to reach the Bo Mansion, but I can’t!"

"I just wanted you to help me, that’s not too much to ask, is it?"

Her eyebrows pressed down, her tone seemingly calm, but Bo Yunshen could hear a tinge of sorrow in her words.

"Mr. Bo, the mountain could collapse at any moment, limping along this path, will I really be able to make it out alive?"

"My daughter is only three years old, if something happens to me, who will look after her?"

At her words, Bo Yunshen let out a cold laugh.

So that’s it!

Now Qin Yan had even learned to morally entangle him, thinking he would end up taking responsibility for her daughter?

She really had some nerve!

The depression in Bo Yunshen’s heart was unappeasable, and he often laughed coldly.

His sharp gaze slid down Qin Yan’s skin, each look cutting and severe.

"No problem at all!"

"If Director Qin dies, the Bo Family won’t miss a pair of chopsticks for Qin Yinyin!"

Dark hostility oozed from his eyes, causing Qin Yan to nervously lick the corner of her lips.

"I’ll leave it at that, if something happens to you, I’ll treat your daughter as my own, raise her, and even find someone to take care of her in her old age. You can rest easy, Director Qin!"

Qin Yan’s eyes reddened, her heart torn to its limits; strangely, a faint smile appeared on her face.

"That would be quite an inconvenience for Mr. Bo!"

He glanced coolly at Qin Yan, not believing for a second that she would willingly die!

That cockroach-like tenacity of hers, did he not see it?

After Qin Yan’s words, Bo Yunshen scoffed sarcastically and walked away without another word, his hesitation nonexistent.

The rage still clung to him.

He was furious that Qin Yan’s act of saving him was self-serving, and he couldn’t block the raging anger in his heart.

There were plenty of people who wanted to save him, but Qin Yan was the first so blatant about expressing her desires!

Shameless!

The more furious Bo Yunshen became, the quicker his stride, completely disregarding Qin Yan.

He didn’t think anything would happen to Qin Yan. The series of events that unfolded when she was trapped in the Night Club was more thrilling than any TV drama, and Qin Yan came out unscathed.

And now, she was in trouble just because she was with him?

Bo Yunshen snorted derisively, walking with sturdy, long strides through the wind and rain, but despite his leisurely pace, he was quickly leaving Qin Yan far behind.

The rain grew heavier, soaking Qin Yan’s calves and whitening her face with pain. The injured leg felt heavy as lead, and every step seemed an impossibility to her.

Bo Yunshen’s silhouette, hidden in the rain and mist, grew fainter and Qin Yan became anxious.

She gathered her strength with a sense of helplessness in her heart.

In her current state, even if she really turned back to take another route, it would be difficult to descend the mountain without Bo Yunshen.

Qin Yan gritted her teeth, stood up straight, and took steps in the direction of Bo Yunshen.

After chasing for two or three minutes, she saw Bo Yunshen’s tall figure standing to one side; he seemed to be waiting for her, just standing under a tree.

Qin Yan stopped in her tracks.

The rain had fallen for so long without a thunderclap, and just as Qin Yan paused, a sudden flash of lightning tore through the gloomy sky, brightly illuminating the scene in front of her.

Bo Yunshen’s chiseled features suddenly leaped into Qin Yan’s vision.

The phrase "You’re waiting for me" got stuck for a moment, and Qin Yan lifted her lashes, whispering, "Yunshen, it’s thundering, you shouldn’t stand under a tree."

Bo Yunshen’s brows quirked.

He had always detested Qin Yan’s look that seemed to say, "I’m doing this all for you".

If he weren’t worried about being questioned by the old man about her whereabouts after descending the mountain, he wouldn’t have waited for Qin Yan.

Seeing Qin Yan approaching, Bo Yunshen looked up at the sky, aware of the danger of staying there, and, unexpectedly without any jab at Qin Yan, he turned to continue downhill.

Qin Yan didn’t speak again either.

At this point, anything she said would only humiliate herself further. Rather than listening to his cold words, Qin Yan preferred they could descend the mountain peacefully, one after the other, without any trouble.

Surrounding the two of them was nothing but the falling rain and the occasional startling thunder.

Bo Yunshen, with his long legs, walked quickly and didn’t notice Qin Yan’s movements until he looked back.

As they approached the most dangerous part of the path, as Qin Yan had said, Bo Yunshen frowned and watched her stagger forward with an uneven gait.

He was unsure whether Qin Yan was just pretending to be so pitiable in front of him.

Almost as soon as the thought about Qin Yan occurred to him, he squashed it in his own mind.

What did Qin Yan’s life or death have to do with him?

Bo Yunshen’s lips curved slightly in a schadenfreude grin as a shadow passed over his face.

But then his smile froze, and his heart skipped a beat.

"Watch out!"

He blurted out the warning in a reflex.

Qin Yan felt a shadow plummet toward her, a sense of danger sending shivers down her spine.

She instinctively tried to dodge, but her leg was injured and didn’t move smoothly.

The next second, a huge rock came crashing down.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

Boulders thundered down from the mountain.

Bo Yunshen’s feet seemed rooted to the ground as his pupils constricted sharply.

Rocks tumbled from the mountain crest, aiming straight for the delicate figure below.

His gaze was stabbed by a stark red, leaving him breathless as if being choked, the sky growing morbidly somber, and the stone fell rapidly from the hillside, all in an instant.

Bo Yunshen gawked, the intense rain probably causing an unstable section of the mountain to collapse, striking Qin Yan as she passed...

For the first time, Bo Yunshen felt solely for Qin Yan, panic-stricken.

Another thunderclap shattered the valley, jolting Bo Yunshen back to reality. He dashed toward Qin Yan in a haste so apparent anyone could see his panic.

Just a few steps away, Bo Yunshen closed the distance in leaps, several huge rocks having fallen at Bo Yunshen’s feet due to hitting Qin Yan!

He kicked one away in frustration, his eyes narrowing when they fell on Qin Yan lying on the ground.

Her slender frame contrasted starkly with the pool of blood, eerily reminiscent of the most frightening close-up shot in a horror movie.

Bo Yunshen couldn’t tell where exactly Qin Yan was injured, but blood poured ceaselessly from her body, the torrential rain not diluting the redness.

What truly terrified Bo Yunshen was Qin Yan lying motionless on the ground.

At that moment, he couldn’t even see a flicker of life in Qin Yan.

He didn’t dare to check on her. His towering figure trembled ever so slightly; the sheer size of the falling rocks exceeded all expectation – the odds of Qin Yan’s survival were slim.

Was Qin Yan dead?

That thought dominated Bo Yunshen’s mind, repeating endlessly.
