Chapter 141: Chapter 141: I Intentionally Gave Your Daughter Three Servings of Ice Cream
Qin Yan’s pupils moved slightly as her gaze fell upon Bo Yunshen. He was sitting with a smile at the corner of his mouth that carried a hint of malice. The originally calm atmosphere had become tense to the extreme with just a few words from him.
As if everything was on a hair trigger.
"I was rushing to finish a document with Lu Yi. A lot of the information was in the public relations department, and I didn’t bring it with me because I was in such a hurry. Besides, work matters and Yinyin’s illness are two separate things."
Bo Yunshen sneered coldly.
Two separate things?
He didn’t know about the document, but he did see her chatting with Lu Yi for over half an hour!
Knowing full well that he had never taken care of the child, Qin Yan hadn’t instructed him to avoid giving Yinyin ice cream.
Was it his fault if something happened without her presence?
"Yes! I gave your daughter three ice creams because I was annoyed with you, I did it on purpose! Okay?!"
Qin Yan’s eyes suddenly reddened. What about her could possibly annoy Bo Yunshen? Was it not because of the watch Lin Man wore?
"Bo Yunshen, if you’re dissatisfied with me, take it out on me. Yinyin is still a child..."
"Ha!"
Bo Yunshen sneered coldly, cutting off Qin Yan’s words.
"What dare I do to Director Qin? I could smash Manman’s watch or go cry to the old man, and that would be enough to cost me half my life!"
His words were laced with scathing sarcasm, causing Qin Yan’s heart to flutter, and she bit her lower lip tightly.
Qin Yan’s lips were tender pink, and with any movement, she’d leave a tooth mark on her lower lip. Her eyes were red but tearless, which made her look even more pitiable than if she were crying.
Bo Yunshen was growing increasingly irritable.
Was it Qin Yan who flirted with men, leaving her daughter for him to care for? Was it also Qin Yan who raised her daughter to be so fragile and now wanted to pin all the blame on him?
He tossed the magazine in his hand onto the table and abruptly stood up from the sofa, striding towards the exit of the ward!
"Mommy, Daddy..."
Just as he was about to step out, the weak murmuring of Qin Yinyin halted Bo Yunshen’s steps.
"Yinyin?"
Qin Yan leaned against the bed, looking at Qin Yinyin.
Her eyelids fluttered open but did not see Bo Yunshen, and tears started to mist her eyes.
"Mommy, is Daddy busy with work again?"
The longing in her eyes for her father was so deep it almost made Qin Yan cry as well.
Unable to control herself, Qin Yan glanced towards the door and, seeing that Bo Yunshen had not left, said with some surprise but clinging to hope like a lifeline, "No, Daddy hasn’t left."
Qin Yinyin pressed her mouth together in a weak smile, "Mommy, I heard you arguing with Daddy just now."
"I wanted the ice cream; I really wanted it. It’s not Daddy’s fault."
"Mommy, can you please not be mad at Daddy?"
The sourness in Qin Yan’s heart surged once more as her eyes, hidden beneath the snow-white blanket, looked especially bright.
She peeked over the blanket towards Bo Yunshen and whispered in a voice that only the two of them could hear,
"Mommy, please don’t let Daddy leave, okay? I don’t want to only see Daddy after a long time."
A heavy, painful grip seemed to clutch at Qin Yan’s heart, making her entire being ache unbearably.
Although Qin Yinyin was young, she understood that Bo Yunshen was different from the other children’s fathers!
She could see it, she could feel it.
Qin Yan always felt that the perfect fairy tale she had fabricated for her could be punctured as soon as Qin Yinyin took one more step forward!
That sense of imminent danger made Qin Yan’s hairs stand on end, her mind in complete disarray.
"Okay. I’ll go talk to Dad and not let him leave."
Qin Yinyin’s eyes brightened once more, but Qin Yan didn’t immediately get up. She reached out to feel her forehead and said softly, "You can’t eat so much cold stuff anymore, okay?"
Concerned about her sickness, Qin Yan’s tone wasn’t very harsh.
Qin Yinyin obediently nodded, and only then did Qin Yan stand and walk towards the door of the hospital room.
Bo Yunshen stood backlit, making it hard for Qin Yan to see the expression on his face; instead, it was his well-defined neck, exuding a sense of aloof coldness.
"Yunshen, could you stay tonight and keep Yinyin company?"
Qin Yan didn’t understand why, even though Bo Yunshen seemed very angry just moments before, he stopped when he got to the doorway.
So when she asked, her voice was tinged with apprehension.
Bo Yunshen lit a cigarette for himself and upon hearing her, exhaled a puff of pale smoke, making Qin Yan’s vision even more blurred.
He first sneered, then asked in a cold tone, "Director Qin, are you asking me to stay the night?"
Qin Yan’s body stiffened suddenly.
"Yinyin is sick and can’t be without her father. I admit my tone was a bit harsh before, I apologize," Qin Yan blinked and said softly, "She’s still young, please, stay with her for one night, okay?"
Bo Yunshen’s lips curled with a hint of mockery.
"What if I refuse? Are you going to threaten me using Manman’s watch again?"
"Yes," Qin Yan nodded, unabashedly responding.
No sooner had she spoken than Bo Yunshen’s phone rang. He didn’t bother to see who it was and promptly cut the call.
Qin Yan took a half-step forward and said in a low voice, "Also, to avoid disturbing Yinyin’s recovery, we both need to set our phones to silent."
The smoke in front of Bo Yunshen dispersed, and his gaze was cold and sharp, like a venomous snake flicking its tongue.
Qin Yan thought Bo Yunshen was about to get angry again when he suddenly clenched the cigarette between his teeth and glanced at his watch.
He was wearing a different watch, and from the way he checked the time, it seemed he was not used to this one.
But suppressing his inner frustration, he turned back, brushing past Qin Yan as he entered the room.
His body was solid and strong; the contact was enough to make Qin Yan’s arm go numb.
Returning to the room, Bo Yunshen tossed his phone to Qin Yan. Instead of sitting on the sofa, he took off his shoes and sat cross-legged on the edge of the bed.
As soon as Qin Yinyin looked up, she could see him.
Assured that Bo Yunshen wouldn’t leave, Yinyin closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Qin Yinyin seldom got sick, and this time it seemed quite severe; her temperature not only failed to go down by dinner but had actually risen by two degrees.
She became more clingy than usual.
Qin Yinyin’s condition fluctuated between good and bad, and watching her, Bo Yunshen suddenly remembered buying her ice cream.
Qin Yinyin had said that Qin Yan didn’t let her eat it.
Thinking about it now, it was probably for fear of Qin Yinyin getting sick.
The pain in Bo Yunshen’s forehead intensified, and he realized that deep down, he still harbored a strand or two of guilt.
Even when Qin Yan asked him to give Qin Yinyin her medicine, he did so begrudgingly but still reached out to take it.
There was hot water in the cup, and among the medicine prescribed by the doctor, there were pills. Bo Yunshen nodded toward Qin Yinyin and said in a cool voice, "Get up, take your medicine."
