Chapter 113: Eyes Like Yunshen

Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Eyes Like Yunshen

Yanyan suddenly stood up from the sofa and adjusted her hair before saying, "Dad, I’ll get the door."

Bo Yuanshan nodded, and Yanyan extended her hand to open the door of the study. It was Qin Yinyin.

Yanyan was somewhat surprised. She crouched down to support Qin Yinyin’s small body and asked, "Yinyin, how did you get up here?"

Qin Yinyin licked her lips and said softly, "Grandma asked me to come up and call Mom and Grandpa down to eat together!"

Bo Yuanshan heard the noise and walked out of the study. Seeing him, Qin Yinyin’s body shrank a bit, and she clutched at Yanyan’s fingers, her black and bright eyes timidly looking at Bo Yuanshan.

"Is this the child?"

Bo Yuanshan cleared his throat and slowed his voice to ask Yanyan.

Yanyan nodded, lifted Qin Yinyin from the ground, and brought her closer to Bo Yuanshan, saying, "Yinyin, this is Grandpa."

Holding Yanyan’s clothing, Qin Yinyin was frightened when Bo Yunshen was hit by Bo Yuanshan, yet she still called out softly and sweetly, "Grandpa."

"Ah."

Bo Yuanshan responded, and despite his restraint, Yanyan still heard a hint of hard-to-conceal excitement in his voice.

He looked Qin Yinyin up and down a few times, his gaze locking onto her eyes, and said, "Her eyes resemble Yunshen’s."

Qin Yinyin actually looked a lot like Yanyan, with her rosy lips and white teeth, but, as Bo Yuanshan mentioned, her eyes did bear some resemblance to Bo Yunshen’s.

However, she was young and her features hadn’t fully developed, so many people couldn’t see the resemblance.

Furthermore, because she had married Bo Yunshen while pregnant, no one connected Yinyin to Bo Yunshen.

Yanyan smiled, changing the subject, "Dad, let’s go down to eat. We shouldn’t keep Mom and the others waiting too anxiously."

"Mhm."

Bo Yuanshan agreed and walked downstairs. Yanyan followed with Qin Yinyin in her arms.

As soon as they entered the living room, they ran into Bo Yunshen, who was being supported by Mrs. Bo as he came out of the study. He wiped the cold sweat from his face, his complexion pale.

Seeing Yanyan and Bo Yuanshan, the corners of his mouth curled into a sarcastic smile, and he involuntarily stood up straighter.

He had changed into a new shirt, still white, with the bandage on his chest faintly visible.

Bo Yuanshan furrowed his brow and coldly dropped two words, "Eat."

Mrs. Bo breathed a sigh of relief, knowing the matter was now behind them, and supported Bo Yunshen towards the dining table.

Seeing this, Yanyan put Qin Yinyin on the ground and reached out to support Bo Yunshen’s other arm.

Due to her gesture, the distance between the two closed. Once again, she smelled the scent of blood. It had been treated, so it was much fainter.

Yanyan’s eyelashes pressed down, hiding a multitude of emotions.

Seeing her approach so defenselessly, the resentment in Bo Yunshen’s heart surged again. Almost as soon as Yanyan’s hand touched him, he forcefully pushed her away.

"I don’t need Director Qin’s false kindness!"

Bo Yunshen’s move was neither light nor heavy, making Yanyan stagger back a couple of steps to stand firm. At these words, her face turned pale.

Having made this gesture, the last trace of color drained from Bo Yunshen’s face, and Bo Yuanshan’s expression twisted, "Yanyan was helping you out of kindness; what are you doing?"

Bo Yunshen let out a cold laugh.

Yanyan?

Kind intentions?

He’s blind, he really can’t see!

With one movement, the bandaged wound on Bo Yunshen reopened, and as he passed by Qin Yan, blood already began to seep out.

Mrs. Bo’s heart ached, and her grip on Bo Yunshen tightened, chilling the atmosphere around them. Shen Ruyun, oblivious to the mood, said, "Dad, the fourth sister made the fourth brother take a whipping for nothing. Isn’t it too much to ask him not to be angry?"

"Shut your mouth!"

Bo Yuanshan barked, and Shen Ruyun’s body quivered, involuntarily falling silent.

Bo Yunshen’s mouth quirked up, and he took a seat at the dining table. As soon as he moved, everyone settled down to eat.

The previous dishes were cleared away, replaced with a new spread, including several of Bo Yunshen’s favorites.

After all the commotion, Bo Yunshen had barely eaten the takeout Qin Yan had ordered for lunch; he was famished.

He lifted his hand and grasped his chopsticks, but before he could pick up any food, a piece of braised pork landed in his bowl, delivered by Bo Yuanshan’s hand.

He felt uneasy and said, "You’ve had a rough day today, eat more."

Bo Yunshen pressed the corner of his mouth, the overhead light casting its glow in his eyes, making his dark pupils look even more profound.

He picked up the piece of braised pork in his bowl and spoke sarcastically, "Dad, didn’t you just call me a beast? You treat beasts this well?"

Bo Yuanshan and Mrs. Bo both twitched at the remark. Mrs. Bo, who was sitting to Bo Yuanshan’s right, opposite Bo Yunshen, glared fiercely at him. This brat, can’t go a day without stirring trouble, can he?

Bo Yunshen played with the braised pork in his bowl, not eating it. Illuminated by the light, his pale face contrasted sharply with his usual appearance.

"All right, Yunshen, how could you speak to your father like that? He spoke in anger; why take it to heart?" reprimanded Mrs. Bo.

Bo Yunshen looked towards Bo Yuanshan, smiled indifferently, and muttered.

Bo Yuanshan’s lips tightened into a thin line, he pinched the bridge of his nose, and managed a strained smile, "This whipping should serve as a reminder for you. Next time something happens, don’t admit to things recklessly; it does you no favors."

Bo Yunshen scoffed, "Then am I supposed to thank you, Dad?"

Bo Yuanshan’s face turned ashen. His grip on the chopsticks tightened, and he set them down, saying, "I was too impulsive today, not clarifying the facts before punishing you with the whip..."

"Are you apologizing to me?" interrupted Bo Yunshen.

"If a few nice words from you come at the price of a whipping, I’d rather you didn’t bother next time," Bo Yunshen retorted.

Mid-meal, Bo Yuanshan suddenly slammed his chopsticks down, emitting a sharp, grating noise that made Mrs. Bo jump, clutching Bo Yuanshan’s arm, "Enough, Yuanshan. It’s not easy for Yunshen to come back home. Why do you two always have to be at each other’s throats? We’re all here, can’t we have a civilized conversation?"

Bo Yuanshan glanced at Mrs. Bo, and though he didn’t nod, his hand reached for the chopsticks again.

Seeing this, Mrs. Bo smiled, trying to lighten the mood, "Yunshen is just stubborn, not heartless. He knew that the day after tomorrow is the third brother’s memorial day, and he planned to come back and stay with me for a couple of days, not wanting me to be sad alone."

Bo Yuanshan’s brows twitched, and he glanced towards Bo Yunshen.

The light reflected in layers in his eyes, making his dark, jade-like pupils gleam radiantly.
