Chapter 806: Chapter 806: They Can Coexist Peacefully

"Your child scalded someone, dirtied their clothes, and then falsely accused them. And now you just want to walk away from it all; you’re oversimplifying things," Xia Qingtian warned.

The woman clenched her teeth and said, "There is no evidence yet."

Xia Qingtian casually told her, "If you want evidence, I can call the police at any time to have them liaise with the mall and access the surveillance footage. That will make you regret your actions. Do you dare?"

Of course, the woman did not dare!

If this matter really escalated to involve the police, there would be no easy resolution by then.

"What do you want then?" the woman finally compromised.

The corners of Xia Qingtian’s mouth rose, revealing a satisfied expression.

She turned to Madame Bo and asked, "She’s asking what you want!"

A flash of confusion crossed Madame Bo’s eyes. She had not thought it through; for her, as long as the immediate trouble could be avoided, whether it involved compensating or otherwise, it would be acceptable.

Seeing her like this, Xia Qingtian was somewhat exasperated.

It was only today that she realized Madame Bo was tough only within her own circle. She had been so harsh on her daughter-in-law, but facing those who bullied her, she turned timid like a naive fool.

She sighed and said to Madame Bo, "Forget it, I’ll decide then."

Madame Bo wasn’t sure what the situation was now and subconsciously nodded.

Xia Qingtian looked back at the woman.

She knew this demure-looking young woman was the one who truly had the decisive power, a tough character.

As for that old lady who had just created a scene, she was all bark and no bite.

"Apologize," Xia Qingtian instantly made the decision for Madame Bo.

Madame Bo had plenty of money; she probably didn’t lack the amount for compensation. Compared to monetary compensation, fairness and justice seemed more important.

The woman pursed her lips and didn’t speak, seemingly reluctant.

Xia Qingtian wasn’t angry but offered another option, "Or pay compensation, you choose."

In fact, she had never given them the choice; from the old lady demanding compensation and this woman not stopping her, even sneakily attempting small maneuvers, it was clear they highly valued money.

Choosing between an apology and money shouldn’t need contemplation.

Sure enough, upon hearing her, the young woman didn’t react, but the old lady immediately made a choice, "We choose to apologize."

She came before Madame Bo, bowing profusely, "Ma’am, I am truly sorry. We were wrong, we lost our senses and accused you unjustly. Now we realize our mistake and ask that you, being the bigger person, do not dwell on this slight."

After she finished, fearing that Madame Bo might still be upset, she pulled over her still sniffling child and instructed him, "Dear, quickly apologize to this lady. Say sorry."

The child, listening well to his grandmother, echoed, "Sorry!"

Madame Bo didn’t dwell on the matter or blame them; she simply said, "Don’t do this again."

After receiving Madame Bo’s forgiveness, the old lady did not immediately leave but hesitantly looked at Xia Qingtian and asked, "What now? Can we go?"

Xia Qingtian had only wanted to vent on behalf of Madame Bo.

Now that they had apologized and Madame Bo wasn’t keen on pursuing the matter further, she wasn’t going to insist on it.

"Go ahead." She nodded, signaling that they could leave.

The old lady immediately took her grandson’s hand and hurried off, urging the young woman to follow.

The spectators had begun dispersing when Qingtian confronted them, calling them accomplices. Now that the dispute was resolved and there was nothing interesting left to watch, the remaining onlookers scattered.

The place where Qingtian had just been surrounded was suddenly left with only Qingtian and Bo’s mother.

Qingtian looked at Bo’s mother and asked, "Auntie, why are you walking around alone?"

Bo’s mother still disliked Qingtian, but she would not hit a smiling face, especially after Qingtian had just helped her and gotten justice for her.

She calmly replied, "I felt the hospital was a bit stuffy, so I went out for a walk."

"I see," Qingtian said to her, "where are you going now? Let me take you."

In front of others, Bo’s mother seemed sweet and naive. If she was left alone here, what if she were bullied again later? Who knew if she’d be lucky enough to bump into someone she knew next time.

"No..." Bo’s mother was about to decline, but just at that moment...

A growling sound emerged.

It came from Bo’s mother’s stomach.

Qingtian looked at her stomach and knew she must be hungry. He was planning to take her for some food, but given their past relationship, she’d likely refuse his suggestion.

He then decided to take a roundabout approach; hadn’t he just helped her?

If he seized this opportunity, Bo’s mother surely wouldn’t refuse.

Having thought of a plan, Qingtian began to implement it, saying, "I did help you just now, and even if you don’t like me, you should thank me."

Bo’s mother was about to express her gratitude but was interrupted.

Qingtian continued, "Just saying ’thank you’ sounds insincere. I’m actually hungry, so why don’t you treat me to a large meal? Then we’ll be even."

"Okay." Bo’s mother was tempted by the idea of clearing the air and quickly agreed.

But she soon remembered she hadn’t brought her phone or money. Wanting to invite Qingtian for a meal and repay the favor was impossible, and she said somewhat gloomily, "Another day, I didn’t bring any money or my phone today."

Qingtian’s suggestion that she be treated to a meal was just an excuse.

The one who was really hungry was Bo’s mother.

She certainly wouldn’t let Bo’s mother go back to the hospital with an empty stomach. Since she couldn’t say it outright, she had to resort to persistence and said, "I’m hungry."

Bo’s mother looked distressed, suspecting that Qingtian was deliberately making things difficult.

"I don’t have any money," she repeated.

Qingtian had already thought of a solution and promptly suggested, "I’ll cover it for you now, and you can pay me back once you get some money or your phone."

Bo’s mother agreed, "That works."

It was a desperate solution.

Having decided, Qingtian picked a nearby restaurant.

This meal was really for Bo’s mother, and she chose a restaurant that served cuisine Bo’s mother liked.

Bo’s mother had once been her mother-in-law, and Qingtian, eager to foster a good relationship, had studied her preferences and knew she liked spicier food.

When ordering, she chose dishes with a stronger spice level.

While waiting for the food, she worried Bo’s mother might be hungry and asked the restaurant to bring some appetizers to tide them over.

It would still be a while before their food was ready, and Qingtian took the opportunity to step out briefly.
