Chapter 740: Chapter 740: She Forgets Righteousness for Lust _1

"Wait a few more days for me, I can give you an answer soon," Bo Jingyan promised her.

Xia Qingtian nodded, "Okay, I believe you, you should leave now."

Bo Jingyan took another long look at her before finally turning to leave.

Xia Qingtian stood in place, watching his departing figure, a sudden surge of intense reluctance rising within her. Suddenly, she called out, "Bo Jingyan!"

Bo Jingyan’s steps faltered for a moment.

Xia Qingtian quickly ran in front of him, cupped his face, and kissed him on the lips.

After the kiss, she let go of Bo Jingyan and said, "Okay, you can go now."

As she turned to return to the ward, Bo Jingyan gripped her arm. His adam’s apple bobbed slightly, his intense gaze fixed upon her as he asked, "What does this mean?"

Thinking about the fact that she wouldn’t see him for a few days, Xia Qingtian put aside her shyness and boldly said, "It’s a reward for you."

"What reward?" Bo Jingyan was puzzled.

"It’s your reward for being a gentleman!" Xia Qingtian thought of his vastly different attitudes when dealing with Shi Qian and herself on the rooftop and her smile deepened. "Keep it up!"

Bo Jingyan, being the shrewd man he was, immediately understood her so-called ’gentleman’s reward’.

A glint of amusement flashed in his eyes.

He felt that keeping distance from other women was the basic manner expected of a committed man. Since his wife believed this was something to be rewarded, he wouldn’t turn down such a benefit, but rather, quite enjoyed it.

He assured her, "Okay, promise I won’t let you down."

"Let go of me, you really should leave now," Xia Qingtian reminded him.

Bo Jingyan reluctantly let go of her hand. He steeled himself and said, "This time I’m truly leaving. Even if you call me, I won’t turn back."

"Understood, go on," Xia Qingtian nodded.

Then Bo Jingyan truly let go of her and turned to leave.

Xia Qingtian was curious if he would really, as he said, not turn back even if she called him.

"Bo Jingyan..." Unable to suppress her curiosity, she called out.

Bo Jingyan, who had just declared he wouldn’t turn back, turned to look at her without a moment’s hesitation, asking her, "What’s the matter?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to see if you really wouldn’t turn back," Xia Qingtian said, sticking her tongue out in embarrassment, feeling her actions were rather childish.

Thankfully, Bo Jingyan didn’t get angry. Instead, he spoke the truth reluctantly, "As long as you call me, no matter what I’m doing, I’ll turn back!"

"I got it," Xia Qingtian waved, "Leave quickly, I promise not to call you again."

To avoid calling Bo Jingyan again later, the moment Bo Jingyan turned around, she also quickly turned and ran back to Cheng Bingbing’s ward.

Her sudden intrusion into the ward startled both Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin.

Cheng Bingbing, seeing her in this state, thought she was in some kind of danger, with someone chasing after her. Worried, she asked, "Sister Qingtian, what’s wrong?"

"I’m fine," Xia Qingtian shook her head.

Meanwhile, Huo Qilin looked her up and down, asking, "Did you get the stuff?"

"What stuff?" Xia Qingtian asked reflexively.

"Didn’t you say you were going out to buy some fruits to fill in Bingbing’s vitamins?" Huo Qilin reminded her.

It was then Xia Qingtian remembered. She had used that as an excuse earlier to leave Bingbing and Huo Qilin alone, and she really intended to buy some fruit.

But she had entirely forgotten about it upon running into Bo Jingyan.

Not wanting to admit her lapse in memory, she came up with an excuse, "The fruits downstairs didn’t seem fresh. I’ll bring some fresher ones tomorrow."

Thankfully, neither Cheng Bingbing nor Huo Qilin suspected anything.

As Huo Qilin was there in the hospital taking care of Cheng Bingbing, there was little for Xia Qingtian to do. After spending a while there, she felt increasingly superfluous.

Telling Huo Qilin to take good care of Bingbing, she left the hospital.

...

Over the next two days, Xia Qingtian visited Cheng Bingbing in the hospital daily.

The relationship between Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin seemed to have hit pause with no progress, but at least Huo Qilin had stopped mentioning his surgery.

After two days of observation in the hospital, Cheng Bingbing was discharged.

On the day she was discharged, Xia Qingtian put aside her work to visit the hospital.

Seeing Xia Qingtian, both Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin were surprised. "Sister Qingtian, didn’t I tell you? Qilin will take me home from the hospital, you don’t have to make the extra trip," said Bingbing.

Huo Qilin also glanced at her with some grievance.

These days with Cheng Bingbing in hospital, he had been by her side. Today was his chance to show his dedication as she was discharged, but Xia Qingtian’s sudden appearance turned her into a glowing third wheel.

Feeling a little embarrassed upon receiving Huo Qilin’s look, Xia Qingtian quickly explained, "I had other things to do in the hospital, just dropping by to see if you guys are ready."

And this was not just an excuse, but the truth.

Today was the day the traditional doctor was to treat Bo’s mother. Whether she and Bo Jingyan would be able to openly date depended on the doctor’s first diagnosis of Bo’s mother.

If the doctor said she was curable, then everything was hopeful.

But if the doctor said there was no way to heal her, then everything would be in vain.

In the foreseeable future, she and Bo Jingyan wouldn’t be able to have any public interactions.

Although she felt that as long as they were together, it didn’t matter whether they could be open or not, if they could be open, she could see Bo Jingyan whenever she wanted.

Therefore, it was better to be open if possible.

Most importantly, if they could stop hiding their relationship, it would mean that Bo’s mother had fully recovered and Bo Jingyan no longer needed to worry about it.

"We’re packed. We’ll leave as soon as we finish the discharge procedures." Huo Qilin, upon hearing her explanation, immediately felt relieved.

As long as Xia Qingtian wasn’t here to interrupt him and Cheng Bingbing, he was content.

These past couple of days in the hospital, he had intentionally avoided their emotional issues, allowing him and Cheng Bingbing to get along harmoniously, like before. But some things could be avoided temporarily, not forever.

He had a premonition that after Cheng Bingbing was discharged, it would be nearly impossible for him to see her, let alone spend the whole day with her.

So, he treasured every moment of their time together and didn’t want anyone else interrupting it.

Xia Qingtian understood his thoughts and cooperatively said, "Then go handle the discharge paperwork, I’ll stay here with Bingbing. After everything is taken care of, you can take her home."
