Chapter 706: Chapter 706: Only Feelings for You _1
Seeing that his intentions were already made clear and she still did not understand, Bo Jingyan became a little exasperated. It seemed the saying ’a woman loses three years’ worth of sense when she is pregnant’ was really true.
He sighed helplessly, "What I’m interested in is not the masquerade ball, but you!"
"Huh?" Xia Qingtian was taken aback.
She was somewhat perplexed about what a masquerade ball had to do with her.
Seeing that she did not understand unless he spelled out his thoughts, Bo Jingyan had no choice but to make it clearer, "We have reconciled, but we haven’t officially dated yet. Don’t you want to go on a date with me?"
Xia Qingtian finally understood what he meant.
Turns out, Bo Jingyan was using the upcoming masquerade ball as an excuse for them to go on a proper date.
At the masquerade ball, everyone is in costume, wearing masks, unrecognizable to each other. They wouldn’t have to worry about being seen or the gossip reaching his mother.
Once she realized Bo Jingyan’s intentions, Xia Qingtian couldn’t help but chuckle, "You’ve really gone to great lengths just to have a date with me."
She had been wondering why Bo Jingyan would want to participate in such a childish event as a masquerade ball, so this was his plan all along.
"Indeed, but you are worth it!" Bo Jingyan said, with no hint of shame, but with a hint of pride instead.
To be with his girlfriend, any amount of effort was worth it!
Moreover, he hadn’t yet told Xia Qingtian that this masquerade ball was actually his doing.
Seeing Xia Qingtian silent, Bo Jingyan asked again, "So, will you accompany me to the ball?"
Xia Qingtian did not answer immediately. She reached out and touched her waist; the pain from her waist, which Bo Jingyan had stressed before, had totally healed.
Plus, she hadn’t seen Bo Jingyan in two days and she was starting to miss him.
In the end, she agreed, "Sure, pick me up then. I’ll dress up as a queen, so make sure you play your part and live up to my standards."
Hearing her say this, Bo Jingyan immediately agreed, "As you wish, my queen."
Xia Qingtian was successfully amused.
Maybe because she could see Bo Jingyan at the masquerade ball in two days, or maybe because she had never attended such an event, her heart was full of anticipation.
After a few more words, Xia Qingtian wanted to end the call because she had arranged to meet a renowned scriptwriter in order to commission a trending fantasy drama for the company’s actors. The writer was about to arrive, and she still needed some time to prepare.
Having not talked to her for two days, Bo Jingyan didn’t want to end the call so soon and tried to engage her in more conversation.
Seeing that her client would soon arrive, Xia Qingtian didn’t pay him any attention and simply hung up.
Her timing was impeccable; the moment she hung up, her assistant knocked on the door to inform her that the well-known scriptwriter she had arranged to meet had arrived.
She quickly gathered the invitation and rushed out to meet the writer.
She was lucky; the scriptwriter indeed had a script which he had been refining for many years. The only problem was it lacked an ending, and unfortunately, it wasn’t the fantasy genre she desired but a rather niche one instead.
Even so, considering all the dramas previously produced by this writer had depth and were well-received, even though none were smash hits, they still had excellent reputations.
She didn’t reject him on spot, but asked to review the script instead.
The scriptwriter knew his script wasn’t popular, yet he loved it dearly.
Even if he knew it wasn’t favorable, he still willingly spent several years writing it.
Now that Xia Qingtian was willing to consider the script, he hoped that she would appreciate its value.
Prior to leaving, he anxiously reminded her, "Madam Xia, although the topic of the script is not popular, as long as it is produced well, it will be successful, and could even crack the top three dramas of the year!"
Before she finished reading the script, Xia Qingtian could not make any promises.
She could only nod and assure the screenwriter, "Rest assured, as long as the script is touching and well written, I will definitely consider it."
With her guarantee, the scriptwriter left comfortably.
As soon as the scriptwriter left, Xia Qingtian immediately picked up her phone.
While she was talking to the scriptwriter, her phone, which she had silenced, had been vibrating constantly. Out of respect for the scriptwriter, she hadn’t answered the call.
She saw that she had missed several calls.
She initially thought Bo Jingyan was upset at being hung up on and was calling her back.
However, when she saw the caller ID, she was somewhat surprised.
It wasn’t Bo Jingyan who had been calling her, but Huo Qilin.
Why was he calling so many times?
Was there an emergency?
With that thought in mind, Xia Qingtian prepared to call him back.
However, just as she was about to dial his number, her phone rang first – it was Huo Qilin again.
Not wanting to delay, she immediately answered and asked anxiously, "What happened? Is something wrong? Why did you suddenly call me so many times?"
"No, there’s nothing wrong." Huo Qilin felt a bit guilty hearing her so anxious.
Because he was calling Xia Qingtian not for business.
Hearing him say there was nothing wrong, Xia Qingtian first heaved a sigh of relief. Then remembering how stressed she was, she asked irritably, "If there’s nothing wrong, why did you call so many times?"
"I’m sorry." Huo Qilin instantly apologized.
Since he had already apologized, Xia Qingtian didn’t feel like pursuing the matter any further.
She took a deep breath, tried to calm herself down, then asked, "What do you mean by there’s nothing wrong? Did you call me so many times just to mess with me?"
"Of course not!" Huo Qilin immediately denied.
"If not, then what do you want? What do you need from me?" Xia Qingtian asked impatiently.
Does she really not know?
Her main goal was to get Huo Qilin to quickly state his business and stop wasting time.
"I..." On the other end of the phone, Huo Qilin hemmed and hawed.
Xia Qingtian waited for quite a while without knowing what he wanted to say and was starting to get impatient.
"If you don’t say it now, I’m going to hang up," she threatened, ready to end the call.
