Chapter 615: Chapter 615 Don’t Leave Me_1
Bo Jingyan helplessly raised his hands to surrender, said, "Alright, I admit defeat. Don’t leave!"
Seeing that he had finally learned to behave, Xia Qingtian decided not to continue fighting with him.
"Weren’t you saying you were sleepy? Then go to sleep..." She said it awkwardly.
Fearing that she might actually leave, Bo Jingyan dared not to continue flirting with her. Instead, he just snuggled up against her and gradually closed his eyes.
...
Elsewhere.
Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin had finished dinner.
Cheng Bingbing initially wanted to drop Huo Qilin home first, but he refused.
"Given your drowsy state, better I drop you home then catch a taxi back," insisted Huo Qilin. He took the car keys from her and gallantly opened the car door for her.
Recalling her behavior during the day, Cheng Bingbing decided not to keep persisting.
"Alright then," she sighed as she climbed into the driver’s seat.
Soon, the car stopped in front of her apartment complex.
Both of them got out of the car, and Huo Qilin returned the car keys to Cheng Bingbing.
"Thank you so much for today," said Cheng Bingbing. The thought of their eventual separation filled her with a sense of regret.
Huo Qilin dismissed her appreciation with a wave of his hand. "There’s no need to thank me. After all, you didn’t like any of the properties I showed you."
Mention of the house hunting casting a shadow over Cheng Bingbing’s eyes.
She wanted to tell Huo Qilin that her standards weren’t as high as he had assumed and that she actually loved the house he had shown her.
But she didn’t have the money!
She didn’t want Huo Qilin to know where she had spent her money, and she didn’t want him to discover the shame of her background and family.
She wanted to preserve her dignity, so she instinctively chose to hide the truth.
The darkness of the night hid Cheng Bingbing’s inferiority complex. Huo Qilin didn’t notice her silence and thought that his words had upset her.
"Actually..." he started, rubbing his nose awkwardly, "I wasn’t complaining about you. Everyone has different tastes, and not everyone likes our properties. You shouldn’t worry about it."
"I’m not upset. I was just..." Cheng Bingbing tried to explain.
However, she didn’t know how to continue and simply stopped talking.
Huo Qilin wasn’t interested in her explanation. Noticing her hesitation, he promptly changed the topic. "You must be tired after such a busy day. You should head back and rest."
Cheng Bingbing shook her head. "Let’s hail a taxi first. I’ll head back once I know you’re on your way."
Convinced that they were relatively safe at her apartment complex, Huo Qilin agreed when he saw her insistence. "Okay then."
Before they could say any more, he had already taken out his phone to call a taxi.
Soon, a taxi arrived for him.
The ride showed up quickly and was located quite close to them. After waiting for just two minutes, the car arrived to pick up Huo Qilin.
Once he’d confirmed his ride, Huo Qilin got into the car. Seeing that Cheng Bingbing didn’t want to leave, he rolled down the car window and said, "I’ve got my ride now. You can go back."
"Mmm, I’ll wait here until you leave," Cheng Bingbing insisted.
Huo Qilin didn’t mind and agreed. He said to the driver, "Let’s go!"
The driver stepped on the gas, and the car pulled away.
Still standing where she had been, Cheng Bingbing watched the car disappear into the distance. She stayed like this, seeming to be deep in thought, when suddenly...
She felt someone yank her hair violently, causing a wave of pain to wash over her.
"Ah..." she cried out in pain.
Before she could struggle, she heard a familiar voice, full of venomous hatred. "You ungrateful wretch. You thought you could avoid me by not answering my calls? How dare you refuse to help your brother buy a house and get married? After all these years, raising you has been a waste. I should have strangled you at birth."
Upon hearing this voice, Cheng Bingbing felt as though her blood had frozen. She was completely chilled and numbed to the pain in her scalp.
When she turned to look around, she found her mother was the one pulling her hair, and her father was standing by, watching coldly.
"Mom..." Cheng Bingbing called out, her voice trembling
"Don’t call me Mom. I don’t have an ungrateful daughter like you. You’re a big star now, making a lot of money. Where is it all?" Her mother’s voice was filled with disgust, as if Cheng Bingbing was her enemy, not her daughter.
After seeing Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin together, she started to guess. "Are you dating someone? Is that man your boyfriend? Did you give him all your money? Look at him, he doesn’t even own a car and had to take a taxi. He’s obviously dirt poor. I don’t care, but you must get your money back!"
Cheng Bingbing knew her parents had no moral lines when it came to money.
She was terrified that they might actually go after Huo Qilin if she didn’t explain herself.
She didn’t want to cause any trouble for Huo Qilin, and she didn’t want him to look down on her or see her with contempt.
All she could do was try and explain, "Mother, Father, it’s not like that. He’s just an ordinary friend. We just went for dinner, please don’t cause trouble for him."
"Just an ordinary friend?" Her mother asked, furrowing her brows.
Cheng Bingbing nodded frantically, "Yes, we are just ordinary friends!"
"If he is just an ordinary friend, he should pay even more," her mother said, her face filled with greed, as if it made perfect sense. "You’re his girlfriend now, and I’ve heard that it costs at least half a million RMB to have dinner with a female star."
On hearing this, Cheng Bingbing’s father’s eyes lit up, he urged, "Quick, call him, ask him to pay."
He looked eager to go through her bag and take her phone to make the call himself.
Cheng Bingbing’s phone was password-protected, but the password was her own birthday, something her parents were sure to guess correctly.
She worried that her father might really use her phone to call Huo Qilin or someone else from her contact list. Out of desperation, she tried to snatch the phone back from him.
"Father, give me back my phone!" She said anxiously.
Seeing her dare to defy her parents and try to snatch the phone from her father’s hand, unlike her usual submissive behavior, Cheng Bingbing’s mother decided to teach her a lesson.
