After holding An’an for a while, Cheng Bingbing made a significant decision.

Then she handed An’an back to Xia Qingtian, and stood up, "Qingtian, since you’re not feeling well, I won’t disturb you anymore. I have some matters to attend to, so I’ll leave first."

"Alright." Xia Qingtian took An’an back and returned her to the nanny.

She escorted Cheng Bingbing to the door, reminding her, "If there’s anything going on, you can talk to me. We can figure it out together, don’t take it all on yourself."

Cheng Bingbing was somewhat moved and turned around to hug her, "Okay, I will!"

After hugging for a while, she let go and drove away.

On the way home, her phone suddenly rang. She glanced and saw that the caller was Huo Qilin, so she immediately slowed down and pulled off the road.

Once the car was parked, she answered the call.

Cheng Bingbing felt a slight nervousness when she picked up, "Hello..."

This was the first time Huo Qilin had taken the initiative to call her since they had become a pretend couple.

"Are you currently filming at the set? When will you be done?" Huo Qilin asked straightforwardly, "If you finish early, I can pick you up."

"Pick me up?" Cheng Bingbing paused.

Huo Qilin confirmed his offer, "Yes, I need to see you."

"I’m already out..." Cheng Bingbing replied, "You don’t need to pick me up. Just tell me where you are, and I’ll come find you."

Huo Qilin agreed and then sent her his location.

Cheng Bingbing checked the location and found that the address was not far from where she was at the moment. It would only take her five minutes to get there by car.

Five minutes later, she met Huo Qilin.

Upon seeing her, Huo Qilin unceremoniously opened the door of the driver’s seat and told her, "You take the passenger seat, let me drive and take you somewhere."

Cheng Bingbing was blankly staring at him, frozen for a moment.

Seeing her like this, Huo Qilin waved his hand in front of her, "What are you daydreaming about?"

Snapping back to reality, Cheng Bingbing asked, "What did you just say?"

Huo Qilin repeated what he had just said, and then shook his head, "You look so distracted. You should try to avoid driving as much as possible."

Cheng Bingbing pouted, wanting to say that she wasn’t usually this absent-minded, she only got nervous and flustered around him.

However, in the end, she didn’t say anything and obediently sat in the passenger seat.

After making sure that she was buckled up, Huo Qilin started the car and drove off.

Cheng Bingbing was staring at the increasingly unfamiliar scenery outside the window, she asked curiously, "Where are you taking me?"

"You’ll see when we get there." Huo Qilin replied mysteriously.

Seeing that he didn’t want to disclose, Cheng Bingbing didn’t inquire further.

She had faith that Huo Qilin wouldn’t harm her. As long as she was with him, she’d be willing and happy to go anywhere.

It wasn’t long before the car came to a stop.

"We’re here." Huo Qilin was the first to get out of the car, "Let’s get out."

Cheng Bingbing alighted and stood next to him, looking around, she realized they were at a real estate sales office, which happened to be one of the top-notch properties in A City.

"Why did you bring me here? Don’t tell me you’re planning to take me to..." Cheng Bingbing paused mid-sentence.

"Planning what?" Huo Qilin turned to look at her.

Cheng Bingbing bit her lip, hesitated for a while but then decided to voice her thoughts, "I thought you knew Qingtian was ill and wanted to visit her. You worried that she might suspect something, so you decided to ask me to be your shield."

Hearing Xia Qingtian’s name, Huo Qilin’s face darkened a bit.

But he soon cheered up.

"No!" He explained earnestly, "I really needed to see you this time, not to use you. Also, I want to apologize for having used you before, it was an emergency. From now on, I won’t take advantage of you, nor use you as a shield."

Hearing this, Cheng Bingbing became anxious.

What did Huo Qilin mean by he won’t use her as a shield anymore? Could it be...

He wouldn’t be seeing her anymore in the future?

Seeing her smile, Huo Qilin immediately averted his gaze.

For some reason, he found it hard to meet her direct gaze.

To distract himself from this strange feeling, he shifted the conversation, asking, "By the way, you mentioned earlier that Qingtian fell ill. How serious is it?"

Recently, due to issues with the company, all his projects had been halted.

When it came to Xia Qingtian, Cheng Bingbing’s smile faded and concern flashed in her eyes, "I just visited her. She’s running a fever and has lost quite a bit of weight. She’s had a rough time lately, and unfortunately, there’s not much I can do to help."
