Chapter 579: Chapter 579: The Young Master Bo feels wronged_1

After reading the brakes posted online, Xia Qingtian’s mind was buzzing incessantly.

Strangers didn’t recognize the woman in the photos, but people who knew her were able to identify her from her figure, as well as her attire from the previous day. That woman was her—

Xia Qingtian!

Xia Qingtian could not muster the strength to deal with the online rumors at the moment.

She stared intensely at the photo of Huo Qilin kissing her cheek, her gaze so intense as if it could burn a hole through the picture.

Why did Huo Qilin kiss her?

Xia Qingtian suddenly remembered the doubts that had come up a while back.

Could her suspicions have been true? Was it not just her overthinking or misunderstanding the situation? Does Huo Qilin actually like her?

Upon realizing this, she felt a bit unsettled and regretful, for she had enjoyed working with Huo Qilin tremendously.

If she were to pass Huo Qilin onto another agent, she would feel somewhat reluctant.

However, her principles remained unchanged.

She wished to maintain a distinction between professional and personal relationships with people from the company, refusing to foster feelings beyond friendship. If Huo Qilin genuinely liked her, she would seriously consider having him represented by another agent in future.

Currently, Huo Qilin was highly sought after, securing the top position in the company. She believed no agent would be unwilling to work with him.

However, this matter was not urgent. She firstly needed to clear up the incidents’ causes and effects.

With this in mind, Xia Qingtian took out her mobile phone and dialed Huo Qilin’s number. For reasons unknown, the call kept ringing on the other end, but no one picked up.

She called several times, but there was still no answer.

She now had every reason to suspect that Huo Qilin was deliberately avoiding her calls.

Upon such suspicion, Xia Qingtian didn’t indulge him and sent him a text message, instructing him to return her call within an hour, or return to the company instantly. Otherwise, he would have to face the consequences.

No sooner had she sent the text when her phone rang.

She initially thought it was Huo Qilin; however, upon seeing the incoming caller’s ID, it was Bo Jingyan instead.

She hesitated for a moment, then took the call, "Hello, what’s the matter?"

"I saw the news." Bo Jingyan’s deep, cold voice revealed obvious spite, "Did you lie to me when you spoke to me yesterday?"

Xia Qingtian was already utterly confused due to Huo Qilin’s inexplicable behavior.

When she heard Bo Jingyan’s question, she was momentarily stumped and instinctively asked back, "What did I say yesterday?"

Seeing Xia Qingtian didn’t remember, Bo Jingyan immediately reminded her, "You said that you’re not planning to start a new relationship soon."

Only then did Xia Qingtian realize what he was talking about.

"This is just a misunderstanding..." She initially wanted to explain things to Bo Jingyan, but then remembered that they were already divorced. Even if she and Huo Qilin didn’t have any romantic involvement,

what did it have to do with her ex-husband, Bo Jingyan?

Thus, Xia Qingtian swallowed the explanation that was about to spill from her lips, "This matter has nothing to do with you."

Somehow her words incensed Bo Jingyan.

The chilling coldness in Bo Jingyan’s voice was palpable even through the phone, "Xia Qingtian, I can permit you to divorce me, but I will not allow you to distance yourself from me and be with another man!"

"I initially intended to respect your wishes, hence I called to inquire rather than conduct my own investigation. However, if you choose to be disobedient, then I wouldn’t mind finding out the truth and dealing with that man in my own way!"

Upon hearing Bo Jingyan’s declaration, Xia Qingtian wasn’t surprised in the least.

This was Bo Jingyan’s true nature.

Although she was upset at Huo Qilin for inexplicably kissing her cheek and then not answering her calls, she didn’t want Bo Jingyan to do anything to him either.

With no other options, she had to lay out the whole story for him.

"This is what happened..." After explaining, Xia Qingtian warned Bo Jingyan, "I will sort this out myself. You had better not lay a finger on Huo Qilin."

Bo Jingyan was slightly annoyed upon hearing her words.

However, he didn’t want to invite Xia Qingtian’s ire, so he acquiesced, "Alright, I promise you."

As long as Xia Qingtian wasn’t swayed, no matter what crafty ploys Huo Qilin might employ, it would all be in vain.

Relieved by this thought, Bo Jingyan’s mood eased a bit. However, it also heightened his urgency. His wife was too exceptional, too attractive. The best approach was for him to protect her himself.

He needed to resolve his mother’s health issue as soon as possible, which would rid him of all inhibitions. Consequently, he could then pursue Xia Qingtian openly, hoping for a reunion between them.

Xia Qingtian was not in the mood for idle chit-chat at the moment. Seeing him not having any other questions, she said, "If there’s nothing else, I am hanging up."

"Xia Qingtian, wait for me!" Bo Jingyan suddenly blurted out.

Xia Qingtian didn’t understand what he meant, nor did she really care, and she hung up directly.

Immediately after, she began to sort out the online rumors.

Although Huo Qilin had angered her, things still needed to be taken care of.

Since she was unable to reach Huo Qilin temporarily, the company’s PR department put out a statement to control the situation online to prevent the rumors from spreading further.

They paid extra attention to make sure nobody took advantage of the situation for personal gain.

After these arrangements, Xia Qingtian sat in her office waiting for Huo Qilin to appear.

As time ticked away, Huo Qilin didn’t show up. Just when she thought he was determined to evade her, he finally appeared.

Upon checking the time, Xia Qingtian found it to be three minutes before the deadline she had set.

Huo Qilin sure was punctual.

However, he didn’t come alone. He arrived with Cheng Bingbing.

Upon seeing Cheng Bingbing in the group, Xia Qingtian raised an eyebrow, "Why have both of you come together?"

Huo Qilin didn’t utter a word. Instead, it was Cheng Bingbing who spoke up. However, she didn’t answer the question but said, "I’m sorry, Qingtian. It’s because of me that the rumors concerning Qilin are creating a stir online."

Xia Qingtian was confused.

"What does this have to do with you?" she asked in surprise. "You shouldn’t bear the burden of everything."

After saying this, she looked at Huo Qilin,"What on earth happened last night? Also, why did you not pick up my calls? Were you intentionally avoiding me?"

Huo Qilin shook his head, "No, there wasn’t any such thing. I didn’t pick up your calls because I had more important things to attend to and couldn’t reply to you right away."

Xia Qingtian retorted crossly, "The company has been handling the online rumors for you. What other important business could you have?"
