Chapter 555: Chapter 555 - Not Letting Anyone Bully Her_1

Meanwhile.

Bo Jingyan had also returned to the ward with Shi Qian.

Bo’s mother lay in the hospital bed, looking somewhat haggard.

Upon seeing the return of Bo Jingyan and Shi Qian, a smile spread across her cold face. However, this smile quickly faded upon noticing Shi Qian’s limp.

"What happened?" She furrowed her brows, looking at Bo Jingyan with a hint of sternness in her voice, "Did you bully Shi Qian again?"

In the past, Bo Jingyan would have undoubtedly bluntly denied it.

But seeing his mother’s pale face, he didn’t retort or argue back.

Not wanting the man she liked to be scolded and looking for an opportunity to impress him, Shi Qian quickly explained, "It’s not Brother Jingyan’s fault, mom."

"I stumbled because I wasn’t careful. Luckily, Brother Jingyan took care of me and helped me back."

Upon hearing these words, Bo’s mother’s face softened a bit.

She looked at Bo Jingyan again, saying, "Qianqian is young and inexperienced, you need to look after her, protect her, and don’t let her be bullied."

"Got it." Bo Jingyan answered offhand.

Just as Bo’s mother was about to say something else, a voice called out, "Young Master, Madam, Miss Shi Qian..."

Bo’s mother immediately dropped the previous topic and turned towards the source of the voice.

Seeing the person, her face softened even more, revealing a certain reverence. "Butler Zhang, haven’t I told you that there’s nothing wrong with me? There’s no need for you to come all the way to the hospital to see me."

Bo Jingyan also greeted the man, "Butler Zhang!"

Butler Zhang used to be the personal attendant of Bo’s old master. After the old master’s death, Butler Zhang became dejected, took early retirement, and left the Bo family.

Despite him being only a butler, he had served the old master for so many years that both Bo Jingyan and Bo’s mother respected him greatly and treated him as an elder.

Every aspect of Butler Zhang’s life used to revolve around the old master.

Now that the old master was gone, he seemed to have nothing to do. Without any spiritual pillar, he appeared even more aged than before.

His attitude towards Bo’s mother and Bo Jingyan remained the same, despite their respect towards him. He still treated them with great deference.

He sighed and said, "Madam, this may be the last time I visit you at the hospital."

Bo Jingyan frowned, asking worriedly, "Butler Zhang, what happened? Are you facing any difficulties? You can tell me, and I’ll help you!"

Seeing Bo Jingyan so concerned for him, a touch of gratification flashed across Butler Zhang’s face.

"I’m fine," he immediately explained to Bo Jingyan, "I’m just getting old and I don’t plan to stay in A City anymore. I’m thinking of going back to my hometown to live a rural life, so, I most likely won’t return to A City."

Hearing this, Bo Jingyan immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Then I’ll send someone with you for your convenience," he said, not completely reassured.

But Butler Zhang didn’t agree and responded, "No need, I’ve served the old master for most of my life. I don’t like others looking after me. Once I return to my hometown, I’ve got relatives there who can help."

Seeing that he had made up his mind and wasn’t just declining out of politeness, Bo Jingyan didn’t insist further.

He advised, "If anything comes up, you can call me at any time."

"Ah, understood." Butler Zhang nodded.

Then, he looked at Bo’s mother and said, "Madam, you shouldn’t worry so much in the future. You have such an excellent son in young master. Your days of enjoyment are yet to come."

"Alright," Bo’s mother agreed with a smile.

After instructing her, Butler Zhang seemed to recall something and asked, "Where are the young mistress and young master An’an?"

The mention of Xia Qingtian and An’an caused Bo’s mother’s smile to disappear instantly and she remained silent.

Bo Jingyan’s expression also darkened. He didn’t disclose the current predicaments between him and Xia Qingtian before Bo’s mother and Butler Zhang. Instead, he concealed them by saying, "Qingtian is busy these days, so she couldn’t make it here today. As for An’an, he is still very young and hospitals are full of germs. It’s not good for him to come to the hospital often."

Butler Zhang, having retired and left the mansion soon after the old master’s funeral, did not know that even now, Bo’s mother had never accepted Xia Qingtian and An’an.

Nor did he know that Bo Jingyan had lost his memory and forgotten all the experiences he shared with Xia Qingtian. In his memory, the couple’s relationship had always been good.

So, he had no doubt about Bo Jingyan’s words.

"What a pity, I was hoping to see the young mistress and young master An’an once more before leaving." Butler Zhang’s voice filled with regret.

Mentioning Xia Qingtian and An’an didn’t seem to sit well with Bo’s mother. She remained silent, her face tensing.

Not wanting to upset her, Bo Jingyan swiftly changed the subject, "Butler Zhang, when are you planning on leaving?"

"I booked my ticket for today. After packing my things later, I’ll head to the train station," Butler Zhang responded.

Bo Jingyan, not wanting to linger in the ward, immediately said to Bo’s mother and Shi Qian, "Then I’ll take him to the station later."

"Young master, there’s no need to trouble yourself," Butler Zhang declined.

"No trouble!" Bo Jingyan insisted assertively, "You must have a lot of luggage since you’re returning home. It would be inconvenient for you to go the station. Luckily, I don’t have anything else to do today."

Finally, unable to refuse him further, Butler Zhang agreed.

After conversing a little more about other things with Bo’s mother, Butler Zhang had to leave to catch his train.

Bo Jingyan stood up with him and said to Bo’s mother, "I’m taking Butler Zhang to the station."

Bo’s mother had no reason to refuse.

Meanwhile, Shi Qian showed quite an interest in joining, "I want to go too!"

Seeing her insistence, a trace of annoyance flashed through Bo Jingyan’s deep eyes. However, considering his mother, he concealed his feelings.

Fearing his mother would agree and he’d end up being trailed by Shi Qian, he quickly said, "You should stay at the hospital."

After speaking, he realized his tone was a bit cold. Fearing Shi Qian would start sobbing before his mother, causing her more stress, he added, "Didn’t you just sprain your foot? Weren’t you in such pain you couldn’t walk? It’s better for you to rest at the hospital, don’t run around causing trouble."

Upon hearing his seemingly gruff yet caring words, Shi Qian felt as though she’d eaten a sugar cube—her heart was filled with a surge of sweetness.

"Alright then, I’ll stay at the hospital and keep Bo’s mom company," she obediently agreed, her spirits high.

Without looking at her any further, Bo Jingyan left the ward with Butler Zhang.

At that moment, a doctor approached them.
