Chapter 548: Chapter 548 Don’t Make It Hard For Yourself_1
Xia Qingtian’s anxious mood received a moment of relief.
However, she ended up waiting another half hour.
The restaurant outside remained deserted without even a glimpse of Bo Jingyan.
Xia Qingtian’s eyebrows furrowed instantly.
Even if there was traffic congestion, Bo Jingyan should have arrived by this time.
What is happening?
Unable to suppress the worry in her heart, Xia Qingtian immediately started searching for Bo Jingyan’s phone number, preparing to give him a call and ask him about the situation.
She hadn’t been calling because she didn’t want Bo Jingyan to feel she was rushing him.
But now, she absolutely had to call!
The call connected quickly but, for some reason, nobody answered.
What was Bo Jingyan up to that he didn’t answer the phone?
In an instant, countless thoughts crossed Xia Qingtian’s mind, all of which she dismissed one by one. "Xia Qingtian, what nonsense are you thinking about? What could possibly happen to him on his way from the Bo Group to the restaurant?"
Though she was thinking this way, she couldn’t help but look for news updates on her phone uncontrollably.
Checking to see if anything unfortunate had happened recently, she was relieved to see that everything seemed to be at peace.
"Maybe he accidentally muted his phone and didn’t hear it ringing?" Xia Qingtian suspected as she continued trying to reach Bo Jingyan on his cell.
Regardless of how many times she called, there was no response from Bo Jingyan’s end.
And by now, it had been almost an hour past the time she had anticipated.
Xia Qingtian didn’t continue calling, realizing that after so many calls, he either genuinely didn’t see them or he was busy and couldn’t answer.
Whatever the reason, if Bo Jingyan chose not to answer his phone, then he just wouldn’t answer.
The only thing she was concerned about was whether Bo Jingyan was in any trouble or danger.
After hesitating for a while, Xia Qingtian sought out Jian Xuan’s phone number.
Jian Xuan, Bo Jingyan’s close assistant and Bo’s father’s personally selected aide, was the person he trusted the most, thus, whatever occurred, Jian Xuan would surely know.
With that thought, she decided to call Jian Xuan.
As she dialed the number, Xia Qingtian worried that Jian Xuan might also not answer his phone.
Fortunately, her fear wasn’t realized.
The phone was picked up after just one ring, and Jian Xuan’s surprised voice asked, "Madam, what happened? Is something wrong with Mr. Bo?"
Upon hearing his question, Xia Qingtian’s expression dimmed instantly.
As she realized that even Jian Xuan wasn’t aware of Bo Jingyan’s situation and had assumed that they were together, she corrected him immediately, "Jingyan isn’t with me right now!"
Jian Xuan sounded even more surprised than her, "How’s that possible? After returning from B City, I carried the documents back to the company and dropped him off after a brief meeting. He told me to get off work early, as he was going to meet you."
"But I truly haven’t seen him," Xia Qingtian asserted definitively.
Jian Xuan, grasping the seriousness of her tone and realizing she wasn’t joking, responded, "I don’t know where Mr. Bo is either."
Xia Qingtian gathered herself and said in a calm voice, "I know, I called because I was worried that something might have happened to him...
Jian Xuan could sense her concern for Bo Jingyan and reassured her, "Madam, don’t worry. A City is Mr. Bo’s territory. No one in A City would dare to mess with him. His tardiness must be due to some other reason."
His words did have a calming effect, as Xia Qingtian felt her panicking heart settle down a bit.
"That’s good!", her tone relaxed a bit.
Jian Xuan tentatively asked, "Do you want me to investigate Mr. Bo’s current whereabouts, or should I remind him about your planned get-together tonight?"
After pondering for a moment, Xia Qingtian declined.
"No need," she replied, "If he’s been held up by other matters, then let him deal with those first. Once he’s done, he’ll come on his own. No need to rush."
Seeing that this was genuinely her opinion, Jian Xuan didn’t say any more and prepared to hang up the phone.
However, before doing so, he kindly reminded, "Madam, if you need any help, you can call me. I am ready to assist at any time, twenty-four-seven!"
"Alright." Xia Qingtian agreed and then ended the call.
She put away her phone, calmed her agitated heart, and patiently continued to wait.
She didn’t know how long she had been waiting for when the restaurant manager approached her and sympathetically asked, "Miss, the person you’re waiting for still hasn’t arrived?"
Even though Xia Qingtian hadn’t told him about it, it was obvious from the arrangement of the restaurant that she was waiting for someone special to her.
The fact that she had prepared so meticulously, waited so long and yet the person she was waiting for still hadn’t shown up, was really sad.
"Yes," Xia Qingtian came back to reality, turned her head towards the manager, consciously ignoring the pity on his face, and asked, "Is there something you need?"
The manager reminded, "Our restaurant will be closing in half an hour. Are you going to continue waiting?"
Upon hearing this, Xia Qingtian pulled out her phone to check the time.
It was already half past ten at night.
Bo Jingyan was now over three hours late from their scheduled meeting.
"Wait!" Finally, Xia Qingtian only squeezed out one word, but it held great determination, "Isn’t there still half an hour left?"
The manager wanted to tell her that if someone hadn’t arrived after such a long wait, there was a high probability that they wouldn’t appear at all.
However, seeing Xia Qingtian’s intense conviction, he swallowed the words that had reached the tip of his tongue.
So, continue to wait!
Anyway, they couldn’t leave work before the designated time.
In the blink of an eye, another half an hour had passed, and Bo Jingyan still hadn’t shown up.
The manager approached Xia Qingtian once again.
This time, she didn’t need his reminder to know that the restaurant was about to close. The whole evening’s arrangements had fallen through, and her heart felt somewhat empty too.
She didn’t want to delay their closing time, so she went to the cashier to settle the bill for booking the whole venue, then left the restaurant.
However, after leaving the restaurant, she didn’t leave the vicinity. Instead, she sat down on a bench outside the restaurant.
Soon, the restaurant’s staff members came out after cleaning up. They were rather stupefied to see her.
Apparently, they hadn’t expected her to be this persistent. She had waited the whole evening within the restaurant, and now, even though the restaurant was closed, she was sitting outside, still not ready to leave.
Finally, the manager, feeling somewhat sympathetic, advised, "Miss, it appears the person you’re waiting for may not show up. Please stop torturing yourself."
