Bo Jingyan dropped Xia Qingtian off at work.

Just as Xia Qingtian was about to open the car door and get out at the foot of the company building, Bo Jingyan grabbed her arm.

"Hold on a second!" Bo Jingyan called out to her.

From past experience, Xia Qingtian thought he wanted payment for driving her to work, which left her somewhat speechless, but she had a meeting that night and couldn’t be late.

She didn’t waste time haggling with Bo Jingyan.

With swift action, she reached back, seized Bo Jingyan’s tie, pulled him towards her, and quickly kissed him on the lips.

"Are you satisfied with this payment?" Xia Qingtian asked hastily. "If so, let me go. I’m about to be late for work!"

Bo Jingyan stared at her in surprise after she kissed him.

After hearing her words, a hint of amusement flashed in his profound eyes as he teased her, "In fact, when I stopped you, it wasn’t because I wanted a reward..."

Xia Qingtian paused and then subconsciously asked, "Then why did you stop me?"

Bo Jingyan finally spoke, "I just wanted to tell you that I have to make a trip to B City for a business matter, so I won’t be able to pick you up from work. I wanted to tell you in advance so you wouldn’t worry."

Xia Qingtian was left speechless.

She hadn’t expected to have caused such a huge misunderstanding, her face alternating between pale and flush.

She didn’t finish her sentence, but Bo Jingyan already understood what she meant.

A smirk appeared on his lips as he reassured Xia Qingtian, "Don’t worry, I’ll definitely return to A City on the weekend. I wouldn’t miss the surprise you prepared for me."

Xia Qingtian finally smiled satisfiedly after hearing his words.

"See you this weekend." After saying that, without any hesitation, she turned around and entered the company.

It was only after her figure disappeared into the office building in the distance that Bo Jingyan shifted his gaze. He was about to start the car when his phone suddenly rang.

It was a call from Jian Xuan.

On the other end of the phone, Jian Xuan asked, "Mr. Bo, I’m at the airport now. When will you arrive?"

Bo Jingyan looked at the time and after a moment of contemplation, said, "I’ll make a short visit to the hospital first. If it’s time to board, don’t wait for me. Head to B City first, and I’ll catch the next flight."

"Yes Sir!" Jian Xuan respectfully responded.

After Bo Jingyan hung up the phone, he started the car and drove to the hospital.

Bo’s mother was hospitalized and she forbade anyone from telling him. But Yingjie sneakily disobeyed her wish and called Bo secretly.

After all, it was his mother. He couldn’t completely neglect her.

However, his decision was not changed. Regardless of how Bo’s mother defended Shi Qian, his decision was the same.

Shi Qian was the one who saved Bo’s mother’s life. He could repay that life debt together with Bo’s mother. Xia Qingtian didn’t owe Shi Qian anything. They didn’t have the right to act magnanimous on behalf of Xia Qingtian and forgive Shi Qian on her behalf.

Soon, he arrived at the hospital.

He called Yingjie and got the room number of Bo’s mother from her.

Seeing him, the expression on Bo’s mother’s face did not change at all, as if the person standing in front of her was not her son but an irrelevant stranger.

Shi Qian, who was accompanying Bo’s mother, cringed in fear.

"Brother Jingyan..." She called out tentatively.

Bo Jingyan didn’t respond to her. His gaze remained fixed on Bo’s mother.

In the two days since they last saw each other, Bo’s mother seemed to have aged ten years. Her haggard and pale appearance caused him to frown and he said with concern, "Take care of your health."

Bo’s mother looked at him coldly, "Don’t pretend to care so much about me. If you really cared about my health, you wouldn’t have treated Qianqian this way and upsetted me."

Hearing these words, Bo Jingyan’s already expressionless face turned colder.

"If that’s what you want to talk about, then we have nothing to discuss." His attitude was cold as he said, "Take care of yourself. I have to go."

With that, he turned to leave.

Bo’s mother angrily swept all the fruit on her bedside table to the floor.

"Get out, get out, get out! Don’t come back, you just upset me." She rarely lost her composure and yelled out loudly, "You are just like your father, a heartless bastard."

Bo Jingyan’s departing steps came to a halt.

Bo Jingyan pursed his lips and remained silent.

Yingjie continued, "She has focussed all of her feelings on Miss Shi Qian right now. If Miss Shi Qian is not doing well, she will be very upset. So, Young Master, please, for the sake of the madam, forgive Miss Shi Qian."

"Impossible!" Bo Jingyan immediately refused without any hesitation.

Yingjie looked a bit upset, "So, are you really not going to care even if it costs the madam’s life?"

"I didn’t say I wouldn’t care." Bo Jingyan said sternly, "I can arrange for the best hospital and the best doctors for her. Apart from forgiving Shi Qian, whatever she wants, I can make it happen."

"But she..." Yingjie wanted to persuade him further.
