Chapter 477: Chapter 477: Anger Him_1

Xia Qingtian didn’t immediately respond.

Huo Qilin’s heart jumped, thinking she disagreed.

His slightly rogue gaze instantly lost a bit of its sparkle, "If it isn’t convenient for you, let’s just forget about it."

Only then did Xia Qingtian snap back to reality, realizing he had misunderstood her. She quickly explained, "I didn’t disagree. I was just thinking about something earlier. Your performance in the project was excellent, rewarding you is only right."

As she spoke, she glanced at her watch and noticed it was nearing lunchtime.

Moreover, she had no work scheduled for the afternoon.

So she said, "Let’s do it today then, my treat."

Huo Qilin was anxious and uncertain due to the unpredictable turn of events, but her acceptance immediately calmed him down somewhat.

At the same time, a sense of joy surged up inside him.

When Xia Qingtian thought about Cheng Bingbing’s feelings for Huo Qilin, she wondered whether she should invite her to the meal as well.

After all, the meal was meant as a reward for the excellent work performance, and Bingbing had also been doing a great job recently; inviting her would seem reasonable.

Thinking this, she decided to consult Huo Qilin. His consent was necessary.

"Huo Qilin, would you mind if..." Qingtian was in the middle of discussing it with him when suddenly...

Her phone rang, interrupting her speech.

Qingtian had been very busy recently; every phone call could potentially be from a collaborator. She couldn’t afford to miss any.

Therefore, she could only pause her conversation and pick up her phone.

When she saw who was calling, for some reason a sense of unease arose within her. The call was from Director Zhao.

What would Director Zhao call for?

The only connection between them was Bingbing.

Did something happen to Bingbing?

Qingtian’s face instantly became solemn. To Qilin, she said, "I have to take this call."

Seeing her unusual expression, Qilin immediately nodded.

Qingtian quickly answered the call.

Without waiting for her to ask, Director Zhao had already stated his purpose.

Apparently, they could not find Bingbing.

She’d been seen at breakfast with the rest of the crew that morning, and she’d also attended the script read-through. She claimed she needed to use the washroom during the break.

And then she did not come back.

The crew had searched the restroom but found no sign of her.

It wasn’t until they checked the surveillance footage that they realized she had simply left the set without saying a word.

Having explained the situation, Director Zhao calmly spoke, "Manager Xia, even though the crew doesn’t have much time, if an actor has a real emergency, they can notify us or me. We’re reasonable people."

Although Director Zhao hadn’t uttered any blame, Qingtian still detected dissatisfaction alight in his tone. He obviously regarded Bingbing’s act as irresponsible.

A sense of urgency arose in Qingtian.

Not just because she had upset Director Zhao, but because she was worried about Bingbing.

"Director Zhao, I’m truly sorry for this oversight. I assure you it won’t happen again," she promptly apologized.

Seeing her sincere apology, Director Zhao didn’t say anything further.

"We’ll give Bingbing the day off today. She must report to the set on time tomorrow." He then hung up the phone.

Although Director Zhao didn’t hold this against them, Qingtian still couldn’t shake off her concerns, realizing this wasn’t like Bingbing at all.

This time, the fact she left without a word, it must be because something had happened.

Qingtian opened her contacts, selected Bingbing’s number, and called. But she found that the phone was switched off.

Furling her brows, she said to Qilin, "Something unexpected happened at Bingbing’s end. I owe you a meal. I’ll treat you another time."

"Fine," Qilin agreed.

"Pull over and let me out, I can take a cab from here. You can drive Qilin back to the office," Qingtian told her driver.

"Are you going to look for Bingbing?" Qilin asked her.

Qingtian nodded and confirmed his suspicions.

"It’s difficult to find a taxi around here. Let the driver drop you off. After he drops you, he can drive me back. I have no appointments in the afternoon; returning to the office late won’t affect me," Qilin added with an assertive tone, "You don’t have to stop; just drive as usual."

Hearing this, Qingtian agreed, as it seemed reasonable. And she was incredibly worried about Bingbing, so she didn’t object.

She instructed the driver to head towards the company accommodation block.

Bingbing had no family or close friends in A City. Except for her shared accommodation, Qingtian couldn’t think of anywhere else she might be.

Upon hearing Qingtian’s words, the driver immediately headed towards the accommodation block.

All the way there, Qingtian continuously urged the driver to drive faster.

Last, without violating any traffic rules, the driver reached the company’s accommodation with impressive speed.

"I’m here, you can head back," Xia Qingtian said, then quickly left the car.

She arrived at Bingbing’s door and knocked, "Bingbing, open up."

She was sure Bingbing must have come back.

Because except for this accommodation, she had no place to go.

"Bingbing, I know you’re at home. Open the door. No matter what problem you’re facing, we can figure it out together," she continued to knock and speak. "I’m on your side, I will never hurt you. No matter the issue, I can help."

Inside the room, all was silent.

This couldn’t continue.

Xia Qingtian had no choice but to say, "Bingbing, I’m really worried about you. I’m afraid something bad has happened. If you don’t respond, I’ll bring someone to break the lock."

Unknown whether Bingbing had finally changed her mind or was genuinely scared of having her lock broken,

"Click..." the door was opened.

Xia Qingtian immediately pushed the door open and went in.

Despite midday’s scorching heat outside, Bingbing’s room was in complete darkness, filled with an overwhelming sense of oppression.

Upon taking a closer look, Xia Qingtian realised Bingbing had drawn the blinds, blocking all light from outside.

After opening the door, Bingbing silently retreated back into a corner, curling herself up tightly.

This moment, she was like a snail that had timidly extended its tentacles, intending to connect with the outside world, but was forced to retreat into its hard shell after being hurt, refusing to come out again.

Seeing her like this, Xia Qingtian felt a pang of sorrow.

She knew that Bingbing must have suffered a serious blow.
