Chapter 470: Chapter 470 I Will Protect You_1
Xia Qingtian reached out her hand towards the slender one in front of her, with its prominent joints.
However, as Bo Jingyan was about to grasp her fair, delicate hand, she gave his palm a little slap and quickly withdrew her hand.
"No need, I can do it myself," she said, her voice firm and stubborn.
Bo Jingyan reluctantly withdrew his hand, and despite his good intentions, warned her, "If you get scared, don’t expect me to save you."
Xia Qingtian turned her head with a hint of arrogance in her voice, "Don’t worry, my heart is not that weak, you..."
"Ah..."
"Ah..."
Before she could finish her sentence, two screams echoed across the renowned glass bridge.
The voices were Xia Qingtian’s and Cheng Bingbing’s.
Suddenly, a cracking sound resonated from the once famous fluorescent bridge. Before anyone could react, a crack appeared in the center of the transparent glass pane and rapidly spread out in every direction.
As time passed, the cracks deepened and continued spreading outwards relentlessly.
At that moment, they were right in the middle of the glass bridge. Running forward or backward was pointless, given the speed at which the cracks were spreading.
What made matters worse was that they hadn’t been secured with safety ropes, either due to the staff’s negligence or other reasons.
"Help!" Xia Qingtian screamed until she was out of breath.
Bo Jingyan who had just teased her stretched out his hand quickly, pulling her close to him. He held her tightly with one arm around her waist and used his other hand to cling onto the railing of the glass bridge.
"Ah, we’re going to fall!" Cheng Bingbing’s face turned pale from fright.
Huo Qilin, who initially intended to protect Xia Qingtian, was left helpless as he watched her being pulled into Bo Jingyan’s arms. His expression quickly turned gloomy.
His gaze shifted, noticing that Cheng Bingbing, who was not far away, was also terrified.
He immediately reached out to pull Cheng Bingbing towards himself and held her tight.
Cheng Bingbing felt a moment of resistance as she was pulled into Huo Qilin’s arms.
However, she quickly reminded herself that this was Huo Qilin, the man who had saved her before.
Her moment of resistance turned into a ripple of sweetness that gradually filled her heart.
Xia Qingtian was genuinely terrified. She clung to Bo Jingyan like an octopus and closed her eyes tightly.
Noticing her trembling with fear, Bo Jingyan, who was hugging her tight, whispered comforting words, "Don’t be afraid; I’ll protect you no matter what."
Afraid for her life, Xia Qingtian felt somewhat reassured after hearing his words, a sense of safety enveloping her.
It felt as if she had nothing to fear as long as he was by her side.
"Okay." She murmured and nodded gently.
After a while, noticing that the glass bridge still stood firm, Bo Jingyan abruptly realized something.
"It’s all right now, don’t be scared." He patted Xia Qingtian’s shoulder and explained, "If I’m not mistaken, the cracks we just saw were just effects added to the glass."
Upon hearing his words, Xia Qingtian opened her eyes wide and blinked in confusion, "What?"
With patience, Bo Jingyan reassured her, "It’s all a hoax, the glass didn’t crack."
Upon hearing Bo Jingyan’s explanation, Xia Qingtian turned to look at the bridge. Indeed, besides the cracks, the glass bridge remained intact. She cautiously kneeled and gently ran her fingers across the cracks on the glass.
She was startled to find that the glass was perfectly smooth, with no cracks on it at all.
The cracks weren’t real.
She took out her phone to verify and found that the cracks were indeed just effects added for the thrill and dramatic appeal of the glass bridge.
The thrill was indeed pretty frightening.
Xia Qingtian and Cheng Bingbing, who had no idea about it, would undoubtedly be scared half to death. Even those aware of it would be spooked by this sudden change.
Once assured that the glass of the bridge wouldn’t shatter, Xia Qingtian withdrew from Bo Jingyan’s embrace.
Feeling the warm softness disappear from his arms, Bo Jingyan felt a sense of loss.
Xia Qingtian, oblivious to his melancholy, turned to Cheng Bingbing, who was still pale from fear, and reassured, "Bingbing, don’t worry. The cracks are not real; the glass bridge is safe."
Upon hearing her, Huo Qilin let go of Cheng Bingbing.
With a light blush creeping onto Cheng Bingbing’s beautiful face, she thanked, "Thank you so much for what happened just now."
"We are colleagues in the same company, and also friends, protecting you in times of danger is my duty," Huo Qilin courteously replied.
Cheng Bingbing nodded, her affection for him growing a bit more.
After safely crossing the glass bridge, even though she now knew that the cracks were just an attraction gimmick, Xia Qingtian still felt a lingering fear and swore to never indulge in such trendy adventures again.
After the glass bridge, they went bungee jumping next.
Jumping off a cliff and feeling the heart sink with the falling body was far too terrifying and thrilling.
The screams of the two girls, Xia Qingtian and Cheng Bingbing, seemed to cut through the sky.
However, letting out those screams seemed to drive away all of their frustrations that were weighing them down.
Cheng Bingbing felt her previously oppressive feelings grow lighter all at once.
That night at the restaurant, the talkative owner told them about the beautiful sunrise view from the highest peak in Jingyan, stating that it was the must-see attraction of their location.
Unfortunately, not many were aware of it.
The cable car to the peak only started at eight in the morning, and to watch the sunrise, one would have to reach the peak by six in the morning.
Even those who knew about it were either unable to wake up so early or not willing to climb a mountain first thing in the morning.
On hearing about the sunrise, Xia Qingtian’s eyes lit up.
Without thinking, she turned to Bo Jingyan and proposed excitedly, "Let’s go watch the sunrise together tomorrow."
Bo Jingyan was not expecting her to be so leisurely, but if it was what she wanted, he would willingly oblige.
With that thought, he replied, "As long as you want to watch it, I’ll accompany you."
Xia Qingtian opened her mouth, wanting to tell him that she proposed to watch the sunrise not because she wanted to, but because it reminded her of a time when they, along with An’an, went camping and watched the sunrise together.
Since she had promised to help Bo Jingyan regain his memory, she certainly wouldn’t go back on her word.
She hoped that watching the sunrise together again might trigger some of his memories.
