Chapter 449: Chapter 449: A Lifetime with Her _1

Cheng Bingbing was scolded, yet she didn’t get angry, on the contrary, she found herself moved and sniffles.

Because she knew that Xia Qingtian was worried for her, not treating her as a tool for making money, but as a family member and partner.

"Understood." She responded, nodding obediently.

Xia Qingtian thought it was all settled after this exchange.

Once back at the company, she began planning to contact overseas talent agents to find a better acting coach for Cheng Bingbing. She shortlisted several promising candidates, including accomplished actors and professional acting teachers.

She had already finalized a deal with the agents’ company, and now Cheng Bingbing needed to choose a teacher.

But Cheng Bingbing was not in the company.

Her phone calls were left unanswered.

Feeling surprised by the situation, Xia Qingtian wondered what Cheng Bingbing could be preoccupied with.

However, just as she was about to go to Cheng Bingbing’s apartment to find her, she received a call from Huo Qilin, who announced he and Cheng Bingbing were injured and currently in a hospital.

Hearing this, Xia Qingtian was scared half out of her senses.

She didn’t even ask why both of them were hospitalized together.

Upon confirming which hospital and room they were in, she rushed over instantly.

Soon, she found Cheng Bingbing and Huo Qilin in the hospital room.

Xia Qingtian carefully closed the room door and asked with concern, "How are you two doing? Where are you hurt?"

"I’m fine, it’s just a slight knick on my arm," Huo Qilin dismissed, raising his hand offhandedly.

Xia Qingtian immediately noticed the thick bandage on his arm, with spots of red blood seeping through the white gauze.

"Huo Qilin, do you think I’m a fool?" She asked sternly, "Tell me the truth, how badly are you hurt? Will it affect your ability to play instruments in the future?"

Huo Qilin immediately looked guilty, "It won’t affect my ability to play instruments. Only a few stitches were needed on my arm, but there might be a scar later."

Upon hearing that his ability to play instruments was not compromised, Xia Qingtian let out a sigh of relief.

She was well aware of how much Huo Qilin loved music. Being unable to play instruments, even if it didn’t affect his singing and songwriting, would be a disappointment for him.

She did not wish for any of her artists to bear that kind of regret.

After inquiry about Huo Qilin’s injury, Xia Qingtian turned towards Cheng Bingbing, "How about you? Where are you injured?"

Cheng Bingbing moved her hair to reveal a patch on her forehead, "I was just hit, nothing serious, just a mild concussion, it won’t leave a scar."

On seeing them both injured but not in any grave danger, Xia Qingtian was finally able to relax.

Having checked on their condition, it was now time to find out why they got injured, and how they got injured together.

A frown creasing her forehead, Xia Qingtian demanded, "What happened? Why are you two injured?"

Cheng Bingbing bit her lip, "I’m sorry, it was my fault. Huo Qilin only got hurt because he saved me."

After finishing, she bowed apologetically towards Huo Qilin.

"I’m sorry. It’s all because of me that you got hurt, and that your arm got injured, perhaps even scarred. I am sorry," her voice was choked at the end. "Someday, I will find a way to remove the scar from your arm."

She was genuinely remorseful, feeling that she had dragged down Huo Qilin.

"You don’t need to..." Huo Qilin countered generously, dismissing it without a thought, he even comforted her, "I’m a man, a scar won’t change anything. Besides, this scar represents my bravery, it’s my badge of honour and adds to my masculinity."

Cheng Bingbing couldn’t help but laugh.

"When you laugh, that means everything is fine," Huo Qilin said cheerfully, "Girls always look better when they’re smiling."

Cheng Bingbing’s heartbeat quickened all of a sudden, she instinctively averted her gaze from his face.

"Will someone tell me exactly what happened?" Xia Qingtian demanded once again.

Cheng Bingbing suppressed her bubbling emotions and explained, "I was aiming for Director Zhao’s role in his new movie so..."

After hearing her explanation, Xia Qingtian finally understood that despite her advice, Cheng Bingbing decided to follow the veteran actress’s advice and fully immerse herself into the character for Director Zhao’s film.

She dabbed some minimalist makeup, hid her striking facial features and went incognito to some shady places to experience firsthand the fall and despair of the character she was portraying.

Everything had been progressing smoothly initially, but unexpectedly, a customer had taken an interest in her.

She was just trying to experience the role, not trade herself in, so she refused.

The customer was so furious he attempted to force himself on her when she was alone. Luckily, at the critical moment, Huo Qilin unexpectedly showed up in search of a friend. He not only rescued her but also managed to drive the customer away.

During the scuffle, however, his arm was slashed by a knife.

Cheng Bingbing too was injured during the struggle, she hurt her head when it was slammed against the wall by her hair during the scuffle. Thus, the two of them ended up in the hospital together.

After explaining the whole incident, Cheng Bingbing shifted anxiously "Sister Qingtian, I’m sorry, I’ve acknowledged my mistake, please don’t abandon me."

Despite Xia Qingtian’s previously vetoed advice, she had insisted on her way, resulting in herself and Huo Qilin — who had nothing to do with the incident — getting hurt.

She surely must be angry now, right?

She feared Xia Qingtian would think she was disobedient and discard her.

Xia Qingtian watched her restless expression, sighed and pulled her into a hug, "Don’t be afraid. We’re partners, side by side. How can I abandon you? And about this time..."

"You were a bit hot-headed, didn’t consider your safety before taking action. However, the one who did wrong wasn’t you, but that person who tried to force himself upon you and injured Huo Qilin in the process."

She refused to agree with the idea of blaming the victim.

Obviously, they were injured by someone else, so why must the victims carry the guilt and remorse?

On hearing this, Cheng Bingbing, moved, tightened her embrace around Xia Qingtian.

"Sister Qingtian, working as your artist brings me utmost happiness." she said sincerely.

If this had happened at another company, with another manager, an artist acting contrary to the company’s arrangements would have been severely punished. But here...

Not only did she not get punished, but she was also gently comforted by her manager.

Most importantly, her manager reassured her that none of this was her fault, that the one who should bear the blame is the person who hurt her.

At that moment, her heart softened and she decided she would always follow Xia Qingtian in the future.

As for Huo Qilin, the look in his eyes when he saw Xia Qingtian was filled with deep affection.
