Chapter 444: Chapter 444: His Heart Softened_1

A heat rushed to Xia Qingtian’s face, making her feel awkward.

But in order to probe into Xia Guohua’s situation, even if she knew that Bo Jingyan despised her and didn’t want to see her, she still had to persist and stick around here.

"Mr. Bo..." her voice was shaky with embarrassment, "I need a favor."

After finishing her words, she held her breath, anxiously looking towards Bo Jingyan, unsure of his reaction.

Bo Jingyan immediately felt uncomfortable.

So, after such a long period of no contact, she was finally willing to show up, but only to ask for something.

A chill flashed across his handsome face, just about to retort, but the words crumbled at the sight of Xia Qingtian’s haggard face and reddened eyes.

A corner of his usually cold heart inevitably softened, allowing Xia Qingtian to wreak havoc in that very spot.

He felt both pain and softness.

"Go ahead..." Bo Jingyan’s cold tone carried an undertone of soft helplessness.

Xia Qingtian did not expect him to be so agreeable, she glanced at him in surprise, but seeing his stony expression, she quickly looked away.

"My father needed a liver transplant, but there was no suitable donor in our country..."

She quickly explained how Xia Guohua fell ill, was sent abroad for treatment, intended to return to the country after recovery, but not only had he failed to return, he had also lost touch.

Then, she stated her request, "Your people have been with him all along during his time abroad. Since I can’t reach him, I wish to contact him through them, or at the very least, find out if he’s okay."

By the end of her speech, worry for Xia Guohua reddened her eyes even further.

Bo Jingyan didn’t like seeing her like this, it made his heart ache as if it was being clenched by an invisible hand.

"Alright." he understood Xia Qingtian’s anxiety for her father’s safety, and didn’t make things more difficult for her.

But he had lost his memory, he could not recall who he had sent to take care of Xia Guohua.

All he could tell Xia Qingtian was, "Hold on, I need to check who was looking after your father."

"Okay." Xia Qingtian nodded, saying with sincere gratitude, "Bo Jingyan, thank you."

Their relationship had become so strained, Xia Qingtian had braced herself for Bo Jingyan making things difficult. Yet, he surprisingly agreed to help without hesitation.

She was genuinely grateful to Bo Jingyan.

Even with his memory loss, his essence remained the same.

It wasn’t a secret that Bo Jingyan had assigned someone to take care of Xia Guohua. After a quick phone call, he immediately knew the answer.

He pulled up the files, and called the all-rounded assistant who had been in charge of Xia Guohua’s care.

The phone was switched off.

A frown creased Bo Jingyan’s face.

It was a requirement for the Bo Group’s personal assistants to be on standby 24/7, like Jian Xuan, who was always reachable no matter the time.

Considering that Xia Guohua was also unreachable and his phone was off, he became increasingly worried.

Upon seeing his reaction, Xia Qingtian’s heart skipped a beat and a sense of foreboding washed over her, "What happened?"

"The assistant’s phone is also off." Bo Jingyan didn’t hide this from her.

He had a hunch that this was far from ordinary.

As Xia Guohua’s daughter, Xia Qingtian had the right to know.

"Has something happened to my dad and your person?" Xia Qingtian drew in a breath, asking with a trembling voice.

Bo Jingyan couldn’t give her any assurances about Xia Guohua’s and the assistant’s safety, he could only attempt to comfort her, "Maybe they ran into some trouble, which is why they’re not back and have their phones switched off."

Xia Qingtian took another deep breath, "Thank you for everything today, I won’t disturb you anymore."

After saying her farewell, she bowed to Bo Jingyan and turned to leave.

Sensing that something was off, Bo Jingyan quickly caught her arm, stopping her.

"Where are you going?" he asked sternly.

Considering how he’d just helped her, Xia Qingtian answered truthfully, "To book the next flight abroad to search for people."

Bo Jingyan’s forehead pulsed, a sense of relief filled him that he had stopped her in time.

"Don’t be so impulsive, do you know where they are or what happened? You just decide to go abroad to find them without knowing anything." He questioned, frowning.

Xia Qingtian looked at him, her eyes reddened, "So my father goes missing, he’s untraceable, can’t be contacted, and am I supposed to act like nothing happened, do nothing about it?"

Bo Jingyan understood that she was worried about her father.

It was unrealistic to do nothing.

But if something had indeed happened to Xia Guohua and the assistant he assigned, letting Xia Qingtian go abroad alone would be like sending her straight into a lion’s den.

In the end, they may not find Xia Guohua, but risk her getting into trouble instead.

The mere thought of her getting into danger and forever disappearing before his eyes, from this world, brought around an almost suffocating feeling.

"Don’t go..." Bo Jingyan voiced out, "It’s a waste of time going abroad alone without knowing anything."

"But I..." Xia Qingtian started to resist.

"No buts, I will send people abroad to find your father’s whereabouts. I’ll contact you as soon as I have any news." Bo Jingyan cut her off, speaking somewhat strongly.

Xia Qingtian fell into silence.

She understood that Bo Jingyan’s method was the best choice.

After all, Bo Jingyan’s connections and abilities surpassed hers greatly. If he was willing to take action, even if Xia Guohua was indeed in danger abroad, he had a higher chance to rescue him.

But she was in the midst of a cooling-off period before her divorce with Bo Jingyan. After a month, they would have no relation anymore. She had no way of thickening her face to ask him to go to such lengths to help locate her father.

What she didn’t expect was that Bo Jingyan would actually offer his help.

Xia Qingtian’s throat felt dry, she wanted to say something, but it was as if something was choking her. She couldn’t utter a single word.

Seeing her silent, Bo Jingyan assumed she disagreed.
