Chapter 409: Chapter 409: Truly Deserves It_1
With that in mind, Xia Qingtian was straightforward with Bo Jingyan, saying, "Alright, then I’ll trouble your people with this."
After all, they were a married couple. Helping each other from time to time was normal and didn’t violate her agreement with Bo’s mother.
Then, she turned to Huo Qilin, "Qilin, go back to the company first."
But Huo Qilin didn’t look at her, instead, his gaze fell on Bo Jingyan.
Bo Jingyan emitted a powerful aura, staring back without expression.
The air has seemed to be filled with the smell of gunpowder.
"Huo Qilin, I am talking to you, asking you to go back to the company first. Did you hear me?" Xia Qingtian saw Huo Qilin not moving, so she called out to him again, puzzled.
Her words made Huo Qilin retreat first, somewhat awkwardly diverting his gaze.
He understood that as long as Xia Qingtian loved Bo Jingyan, he would never win.
"Yes, I heard." He replied solemnly, and then looked back at Xia Qingtian, advising, "Please take care of yourself. If anything happens, call me."
With that, without waiting for Xia Qingtian to urge him further, he turned around and left.
Xia Qingtian stood in place, watching him leave.
"What’s so interesting? The person is gone, but you still watch, head stretched towards him. What’s so interesting?" Seeing her gazing intently at the departing Huo Qilin, Bo Jingyan felt extremely irritated, his tone was icy cold.
Xia Qingtian finally turned her attention back, looked over at him with surprise.
Something sounded strange about his words, she thought.
She opened her mouth, "Jingyan, you ... "
"Shut up." Bo Jingyan cut her off, his face cold.
Thinking about the jealous words he had just said, he felt even more irritating.
Xia Qingtian instantly shut up, adjusting her stance.
But as soon as she moved, she felt a sharp pain in her ankle.
She sucked in a breath due to the pain.
Seeing this, Bo Jingyan’s eyebrows furrowed, "Why are you moving around?"
Without waiting for her to reply, he picked her up horizontally.
Xia Qingtian instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
Bo Jingyan started walking.
"Where are you taking me?" Xia Qingtian asked in surprise, not resisting.
Bo Jingyan’s expression remained cold, not answering her.
Xia Qingtian did not continue to ask. She knew he would not harm her.
With that thought, she let Bo Jingyan carry her out of the mall without any fuss.
Seeing her obediently nestled in his arms, Bo Jingyan’s irritation eased somewhat.
Soon, they arrived at their destination.
Bo Jingyan put Xia Qingtian down.
Xia Qingtian looked around to see that Bo Jingyan had taken her to a traditional Chinese medicine clinic with an old-fashioned decoration. The air was filled with the long-lasting scent of herbal medicine.
Bo Jingyan found a doctor for her and explained Xia Qingtian’s condition.
After examining Xia Qingtian’s injured foot, the doctor found that her ankle was swollen and turning purplish red, it looked quite startling.
Bo Jingyan’s eyebrows furrowed, obviously he didn’t expect her foot to be this badly injured.
On the other hand, the doctor was calm, reassuring them not to worry. It looked serious, but it’s just a skin injury and can be treated easily.
He even gave two treatment options.
The first option was to use gentle treatment: take some ointment, apply it for a few days, and she’d be hopping around again.
The other option was more violent and painful, but faster: one good sleep and she’d be as good as new.
"Choose the first one."
"Choose the second one."
Bo Jingyan and Xia Qingtian replied almost simultaneously.
Bo Jingyan leaned towards the first treatment option, while Xia Qingtian leaned towards the latter.
"Choose the second one!" Xia Qingtian reiterated, "I’m not afraid of pain. I have a lot to do at the company, they need me there."
Huo Qilin’s career was in a critical phase, and now that they had just faced a crisis, as the CEO and manager of the company, she had to take charge, particularly at such a crucial time.
Bo Jingyan thought about her throwing herself in front of Huo Qilin to protect him.
After Huo left, she still watched in the direction he went, her face visibly darkened.
"Is it the company that can’t do without you, or is it that Huo Qilin can’t do without you?" Bo Jingyan’s tone was chilling when he spoke.
Xia Qingtian blinked, questioning him unclearly, "Is there a difference? Huo Qilin is a part of the company."
Bo Jingyan kept silent with a grim face.
Xia Qingtian saw his facial expression, and raised her eyebrows in surprise, "Are you angry?"
"No," Bo Jingyan returned the two cold words, "If you seek your own suffering, then I won’t stop you. Just make sure not to scream like a banshee later."
Xia Qingtian looked defiant, "I can bear it."
Then, she turned to the doctor, "I choose the second treatment option."
Seeing that Xia Qingtian had made her choice, the doctor went to get the medicine. He warned her, "Bear with it."
After she nodded her head, he pressed his hand onto her swollen ankle, rubbing it ferociously.
Though she had been warned it might be painful, Xia Qingtian hadn’t expected it to hurt as much as it did.
"Ah..." she screamed in pain.
It felt like the doctor wasn’t trying to treat her foot, but instead, twist it off her body.
Why did it hurt so much?
Instinctively, she tried to pull back her foot, but the doctor held it firmly in place, warning her, "Don’t move."
Xia Qingtian felt as if she was going to die.
"Bo Jingyan, it hurts so much." She looked at Bo Jingyan with tear-filled eyes, a hint of grievance in her tone, looking pitiful.
"You deserve it!" Bo Jingyan looked at her coldly, "This is the price you pay for disregarding your own safety and protecting that Huo Qilin. Let’s see if you dare to do it again!"
His tone and words were cold, but he held onto Xia Qingtian’s hand.
He then turned to the doctor and said, "Try to be gentle if possible. She can’t handle too much pain."
"I will try my best." The doctor couldn’t promise anything.
Xia Qingtian clutched onto Bo Jingyan’s hand tightly.
She wasn’t sure if the doctor took Bo Jingyan’s advice and treated her more gently, or if it was because Bo Jingyan was at her side but the pain didn’t seem so unbearable anymore.
