Chapter 368: Chapter 368: Paying Tribute on His Behalf_1

After learning the purpose of their visit, Xia Guohua agreed without hesitation.

Xia Qingtian furrowed her eyebrows upon seeing this.

Why would her father agree to sign a letter of understanding?

When Shi Qian was taken by the police the day after her poisoning, she already told Xia Guohua what really happened while she was visiting him in the hospital.

He already knows that this time she was poisoned because she was being deliberately targeted by Shi Qian.

"Dad..." Xia Qingtian called out to him, intending to say something.

"I have made up my mind on this matter, don’t interfere," Xia Guohua, as if knowing what she was about to say, directly cut her off.

Xia Qingtian knew by the look on his face that he had made his decision.

Even though she didn’t agree with Xia Guohua’s approach, he wasn’t a child, so she couldn’t forcefully intervene in his decision.

Mother Bo was very pleased with Xia Guohua’s tact.

She quickly took out the letter of understanding that she had prepared, along with a pen and an ink pad, and asked him to sign his name on the letter and to leave his thumbprint on it.

Xia Guohua willingly complied.

After Mother Bo received the letter of understanding, her face instantly lightened up.

She chatted with Xia Guohua for a bit, asking him to take care of his health. Then, she left the hospital with Shi Qian.

After they left, Xia Qingtian couldn’t stop herself from asking worriedly, "Dad, I clearly told you that your poisoning was no accident, but an act of revenge by Shi Qian. Why did you agree to sign this letter of understanding?"

Xia Guohua let out a sigh and took her hand.

"Qingtian, it was your mother-in-law who proposed this. I can tell that your relationship with her is tense." He spoke deep from his heart. "You are now part of the Bo family. Previously, with Mr. Bo’s protection, you were able to live as you wished within the family."

"But with Mr. Bo now gone, if you offend Lady Bo, any difficulties she gives you will ultimately hurt you."

"I, as a father, have not been very useful. After your mother passed away, I couldn’t even save the company, let alone help you. I hope that by letting bygones be bygones this time, your relationship with Lady Bo can improve, and you will be safe and happy."

Hearing his considerate words, Xia Qingtian felt a sudden sour swell in her heart.

She tightened her grip on Xia Guohua’s hand and tried to squeeze out a smile, "I know what to do, you don’t have to worry about me."

She didn’t want Xia Guohua to worry about her while he was sick.

Now that Xia Guohua’s recent incidence of poisoning was deemed an accident by the police, and with the letter of understanding already issued, Shi Qian will soon be tried in court.

Xia Qingtian was ready to put this matter behind her.

Next, she planned to continue working on Cheng Bingbing’s scar issue.

However, when Cheng Bingbing saw her, she asked curiously, "Qingtian, where is the ring your husband gave you? You usually wear it wherever you go, why aren’t you wearing it today?"

Xia Qingtian subconsciously looked at her hand at the mention of this, only to find her ring finger bare.

The ring Bo Jingyan gave her was nowhere to be found.

Her face immediately changed.

Where is the ring?

Ever since she received the ring, she had never taken it off, not even when she showered. So where could it be?

Seeing her reaction, Cheng Bingbing immediately realized that the ring wasn’t left behind but lost.

"Qingtian, don’t worry. Think about the last time you remember the ring being on your finger." she tried to comfort her.

Xia Qingtian tried to calm down.

After thinking about it, the ring seemed to have been lost after she settled accounts with Shi Qian on her last visit to the old mansion.

Could it be that when she hit Shi Qian that day, she was so out of control that she accidentally flung the ring off?

With this thought, Xia Qingtian rushed to finish her tasks for the day and decided to return to the old mansion to search for her ring.

Upon arriving at the old mansion, she asked the servants if they had found a ring.

Knowing that they hadn’t, she refused the help from the servants and got down on her hands and knees to search the entire mansion.

After looking around the mansion and turning every corner without finding it, she began to suspect whether the ring had been lost elsewhere.

Just as she was pondering this, she was startled by a loud noise from upstairs.

As Xia Qingtian was wondering what had happened, she heard a few painful groans.

She recognized at once that they were from Mother Bo.

"Mom, what’s wrong?" Xia Qingtian called out from the bottom of the stairs, her voice full of concern.

However, there was no reply.

Her heart started to race as she realized something must have happened to Mother Bo.

Even though Mother Bo didn’t like her, she would at most give her a cold shoulder, but she would never deliberately ignore her.

Bearing this in mind, Xia Qingtian didn’t hesitate and immediately ran upstairs.

Following the source of the sound, she found Mother Bo lying in the doorway, foam flowing from her mouth and her body convulsing.

She recognized the symptoms as a seizure.

Xia Qingtian didn’t know much about seizures, so she decided to run downstairs and get help from Yingjie.

But before she could, Mother Bo grabbed her hand and bit it.

The pain distorted her face instantly, but afraid of hurting Mother Bo, she didn’t dare to struggle and endured it.

Fortunately, a maid passed by at that moment and, seeing the situation, quickly called for Yingjie.

Yingjie must have done something, because Mother Bo’s body stopped convulsing and she lost consciousness.

Xia Qingtian’s hand was now a bloody mess, bitten by Mother Bo.

Yingjie called for a private doctor.

The doctor inquired about Mother Bo’s condition, then examined her. He explained that it was a seizure and as long as she wasn’t convulsing, she should be okay.

However, Mother Bo had a unique health condition; someone needed to be nearby until she regained consciousness to prevent her from hurting herself if she had another seizure.

Before leaving, the doctor also treated Xia Qingtian’s injured hand.

Xia Qingtian looked at Mother Bo on the bed, imagining her conversation with Yingjie and the doctor earlier. She found out that Mother Bo’s seizures were not congenital, but a result of her postpartum complications.

In other words, Mother Bo’s seizures were due to the birth of Bo Jingyan.

Finally, she understood why Mr. Bo had worriedly instructed them on his deathbed to look after Mother Bo.

With Bo Jingyan away on business and unable to return, she felt it was her duty to take good care of Mother Bo in his stead.
