Chapter 314: Chapter 314 Always With Her _1
"Xia Qingtian, you listen to me..." Bo Jingyan held Xia Qingtian’s shoulders tight, suppressing the sorrow in his heart. He looked into her eyes, his tone stern and resolute, "This was an accident; it has nothing to do with you."
"Neither grandfather nor any one of us will blame you."
"Don’t take this upon yourself!!!"
Xia Qingtian shook her head, about to say something when a sudden pain shot through her stomach.
"Ah..." She clutched her belly, her face pallid.
"What’s wrong?" Bo Jingyan realized something was off, his voice filled with concern.
Xia Qingtian didn’t respond to his question; she felt what seemed like a warm fluid slowly trickling down her legs.
"Jingyan, the baby, is something wrong with the baby?" Her voice was filled with panic, her words barely coherent.
She was truly scared, afraid that something was wrong with the baby in her stomach.
She didn’t want to lose the two people most important to her on the same day.
Bo Jingyan also noticed her abnormal condition and quickly swept her into his arms. His voice was steady and comforting, "Don’t be afraid, I won’t let anything happen to you."
Xia Qingtian’s panic seemed to subside a little at his words.
Bo Jingyan carried her to the maternity ward.
After a quick check-up, the doctor came to a swift conclusion, "Mrs. Bo is undergoing premature labor due to a huge shock. She needs to be taken to the delivery room immediately."
Xia Qingtian’s face was deathly pale. She bit her lip, unable to utter a word.
Bo Jingyan knew she was scared.
And rightly so, it was her first time becoming a mother, her first time facing labor, and it was premature. How could she not be scared?
He took out a handkerchief and carefully wiped the cold sweat from her forehead, encouraging her, "Don’t be afraid, I’ll be waiting outside for you, waiting for you and our baby to come out safe and sound."
"With medical advancement these days, everything will be fine."
Although Xia Qingtian still didn’t speak, she stopped biting her lip.
Once in the delivery room, her abdomen hurt more and more, the pain so intense it felt as if her soul was shuddering.
She had no idea how much time had passed...
Just when she thought she would be tormented to death by the pain, suddenly...
A baby’s cry filled her ears, sounding as soothing as a lullaby.
"She’s given birth!"
"The baby is finally here!"
"It’s a chubby boy."
Xia Qingtian wanted to see her baby, but she had no strength left and passed out.
When she woke up again, it was two days later.
Bo Jingyan wasn’t there. According to the nurse, he had stayed outside the delivery room for a long while, not leaving until she had given birth safely and was moved into a regular room.
Before he left, he told the nurse to take good care of her and the baby and to contact him immediately if anything happened.
Even though he was busy these past few days, he found the time to visit her every day and talk to her, even though she wasn’t awake.
Warmth filled Xia Qingtian’s heart. She remembered before she went into the delivery room, Bo Jingyan had promised her that he would wait for her and their baby to come out safe and sound.
He kept his promise!!
The next few days, Xia Qingtian hardly saw Bo Jingyan.
Bo Jingyan was busy. Whenever he came to visit, it was late at night, and she, weakened from the childbirth, had already fallen asleep early.
On this day.
Her condition finally improved a bit, and she was allowed to get out of bed and walk around.
Under the guidance of the nurse, she went to the nursery, and through the glass, she saw her little one in the incubator.
To be honest, the little one isn’t very good-looking.
With his crumpled, reddish skin, he looks like a rather ugly little monkey.
Luckily, while premature, he is a healthy baby.
It seemed as though the baby recognized her and made cooing noises in her direction.
Even though she knew that a child this small possessed imperfect vision and couldn’t possibly recognize her, Xia Qingtian felt as if her heart was melting.
The baby is so adorable; if Mr. Bo could see him, he would have been delighted. Such a pity...
He was destined never to see him!
Wouldn’t it have been wonderful if the baby had been born a bit earlier?
Why just after Mr. Bo’s departure from this world?
Upon thinking about Mr. Bo, a sour pain erupted in the corners of Xia Qingtian’s eyes, warmth engulfing her heart as if a hole had been torn open.
After visiting the baby, Xia Qingtian returned to her ward, grief-stricken.
There, she found a smartly suited man in the ward, the door ajar.
Xia Qingtian initially thought it was Bo Jingyan making a visit.
However, she realized upon entering the ward, that it was Senior Gu Jinchen who had come.
He had a basket of fruit in one hand and a bunch of lilies in the other.
Xia Qingtian swiftly wiped away her tears and nonchalantly asked, "Senior, what brings you here?"
After placing the fruit basket down and attentively arranging the flowers in a vase, Gu Jinchen softly answered, "I heard that you gave birth and thought to visit you."
Xia Qingtian attempted to smile, expressing her gratitude, "Thank you."
After a brief conversation, Gu Jinchen, not wanting to disrupt her rest any further, prepared to take his leave.
Before leaving, he glanced at her reddened eyes, pursed his lips and could not help but comfort her, "I have heard about Mr. Bo’s passing. Accept my deepest condolences."
Xia Qingtian didn’t want to cry in front of her senior.
But thinking about Mr. Bo, she lost all control over her tears, and they streamed down her face.
Seeing her cry, Gu Jinchen was at a loss, "Qingtian, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have mentioned it..."
Before he finished speaking, a hand reached over and wiped the tears from her face.
Following closely was a voice, slightly hoarse and indifferent, "Stop crying! It’s bad for your eyes."
Without even turning her head, Xia Qingtian knew it was Bo Jingyan.
She turned her head for a glimpse, and as expected, she was not wrong.
It was indeed Bo Jingyan who had arrived!
Having not seen him for a few days, she noticed that Bo Jingyan had become extremely haggard and thinner. His deep eyes were wrought with pain and fatigue, and dark circles now marred his once peaceful visage. He seemingly hadn’t had a decent sleep in ages.
A wave of heartache overwhelmed Xia Qingtian, and her voice quivered as she asked, "How is grandfather’s situation?"
Bo Jingyan, knowing her concern for his grandfather, didn’t conceal anything, "The body has been cremated. There was a burial site that grandfather had picked next to grandmother. It should be ready for burial by tomorrow."
Without a moment of hesitation, Xia Qingtian declared, "I want to go too. I want to accompany grandfather on his last journey."
Bo Jingyan frowned but said nothing.
Gu Jinchen tried to persuade her, "Qingtian, you just gave birth. It’s crucial for you to rest comfortably. You can’t expose yourself to the wind."
"Yes, Mrs. Bo, you had a premature delivery and have not fully recovered. You must rest diligently in the hospital. If you insist on going out, it could trigger severe hemorrhaging, which would be very dangerous." The doctor, who had come to perform a check, also disapproved after hearing Xia Qingtian’s words.
Xia Qingtian disregarded Gu Jinchen and the doctor.
She stared stubbornly and defiantly into Bo Jingyan’s eyes, silently expressing her resolve.
She knew the doctor and her senior’s opinions were irrelevant, and Bo Jingyan’s was the only one that mattered in deciding whether she could accompany Mr. Bo on his final journey.
