After hanging up the call, Xia Qingtian opened her inbox, looked at the photos, and thought of Qian Wenbin’s request. An amused grin crept on her face.

"What a fool..." She couldn’t help but snicker.

Qian Wenbin had been on speakerphone during the entire conversation with Xia Qingtian; Chen Momo heard every word.

Now that the call was finally over, she couldn’t restrain herself from asking anxiously, "Well? Well? Did Xia Qingtian fall into the trap we laid out for her?"

"Yes." Qian Wenbin responded unbothered, a note of pleasure in his voice as he nodded in affirmation.

"Great!" A gleeful look flashed in Chen Momo’s eyes.

In three days, Xia Qingtian was going to die.

Once she was out of the way, she could replace her as Mrs Bo and enjoy the affections of the two men of the Bo family.

This good news lifted Chen Momo’s spirits. High in spirits and happiness, she had been granted permission to leave the hospital.

Quickly, three days passed by.

After Bo Jingyan left for the office, Xia Qingtian called for a rideshare taxi on his mobile phone and went to the meeting place specified by Qian Wenbin.

Qian Wenbin came out of hiding only after confirming that she had come alone.

"I’ve put the money on this bank card. Where’s the evidence you talked about?" Xia Qingtian handed over the bank card.

Just as Qian Wenbin was about to grab the bank card from her and hand her a USB drive, suddenly...

"Damn, we’re being followed!"

Without uttering another word, he grabbed Xia Qingtian’s arm, shoved her into a car parked at the side of the road and quickly took off.

Xia Qingtian just went along with Qian Wenbin.

The scenery outside the car window became more and more unfamiliar, more and more desolate.

She immediately ordered him sternly, "Hey, where are you taking me? Stop the car, stop it now!"

But Qian Wenbin ignored her, driving forward.

Xia Qingtian glared at him, "So, your supposed deal with me was just a scam, right?"

"You’re only finding out now, isn’t it too late?" Qian Wenbin didn’t deny it.

"Chen Momo put you up to all of this, didn’t she?" Xia Qingtian coldly demanded.

Qian Wenbin didn’t answer the question.

Xia Qingtian seemed to have given up, and stopped engaging him. Instead, she started blankly at the window.

Qian Wenbin took a glance at her out of the corner of his eye, a flicker of confusion in his eyes. He found her attitude odd, yet so far, everything went according to plan.

So, he suppressed his doubts.

After what seemed like an eternity, the car finally stopped in front of a massive lake.

"Get out!" Qian Wenbin prepared to drag Xia Qingtian out of the car.

Swatting away his hand, Xia Qingtian declared, "Don’t touch me, I can get out by myself."

Saying this, she got out of the car while holding her stomach.

Seeing this, Qian Wenbin furrowed his brows. He knew she was aware that she had been lured into a trap that sought her harm, and this situation did not bode well for her.

Instead of trying to save herself, why was she so compliant?

Having secured her footing, Xia Qingtian calmly asked the man in front of her, "Let’s hear it. What do Chen Momo and you have planned for me?"

Qian Wenbin made no mention Chen Momo but said, "Don’t blame me for this. You only have yourself to blame for getting in someone else’s way. Be smarter next time."

"Are you planning to kill me?" Xia Qingtian’s expression shifted at once.

They were even more malicious and ruthless than she had imagined.

Qian Wenbin didn’t deny this, and his satisfaction with her finally showing a reaction eased his restlessness.

"Tie that rope to your foot and make a tight knot." He pointed to a rope not far away and ordered.

Xia Qingtian saw that the other end of the rope was tied to a large rock. Suddenly, she understood. He planned to push her into the lake and drag her down to the bottom with the rock so that her body would never be found.

She stood still as Qian Wenbin threatened her with a knife he pulled from his pocket.

"Hurry up, or I’ll cut your stomach open with this knife and see if the child inside you is a boy or a girl."

At his words, Xia Qingtian’s hands clenched into fists. Her gaze showed a trace of coldness when she looked at him.

However, in the end, she sat down and slowly tied the rope to her foot, as instructed.

After doing all this, she looked at Qian Wenbin, "Before I die, can I see the irrefutable evidence you mentioned, evidence that will not allow Chen Momo to argue anything? Even if I die, I want to know the truth."

Qian Wenbin thought about Chen Momo’s instructions before they set out; not to talk too much, dispose of Xia Qingtian as soon as possible, and then get rid of the evidence and leave the scene of the crime.

"No!" These instructions etched in his heart, he refused her request outright.

Now, he wanted to settle this quickly, so he ordered again, "Pick up that rock and slowly walk into the lake."

Seeing that she couldn’t garner any useful information from him, Xia Qingtian grew disinterested.

"If you’re unwilling to cooperate with me, why should I cooperate with you?"

She stood up from the ground, holding her stomach, "Anyway, dying from drowning is the same as being stabbed by you. So why should I make it easy for you and help you evade culpability?"

Qian Wenbin’s eyes flashed dangerously, "If you walk into the lake and drown yourself, you’ll suffer less. If I have to do it, you’ll wish you were dead. If you must die, I advise you to choose a less painful method."

Xia Qingtian chuckled, "Why should it be me dying, why not you?"

"What do you mean by that?" Qian Wenbin was taken aback.

"Alright, come out now." Instead of explaining, Xia Qingtian clapped her hands and called out.

Suddenly, from seemingly nowhere, a multitude of people emerged, quickly surrounding them at the desolate and secluded lakeside.

Thinking back to Xia Qingtian’s calm demeanor in full knowledge of his ill intention, and how ridiculously smooth their plan had gone, something dawned on Qian Wenbin.

He looked at Xia Qingtian, shocked, "You’ve been suspicious of me for a while, everything you did was to lure me out?"

Xia Qingtian smiled, "Congrats, you got it right!"
