Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Unusual Incident_1 Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Unusual Incident_1 Xia Qingtian watched her leaving with a sharp gaze, feeling that her behavior was rather peculiar, and furthermore…
In retrospect, the timing of Chen Momo’s appearance with Bo Jingyan was a bit too clever.
This matter couldn’t be as simple as it seemed.
However, Xia Qingtian couldn’t figure out what role Chen Momo might be playing in all this, at least not for the moment.
She returned to her room, heavyhearted.
Upon entering, she noticed that her belongings, especially her computer, had been tampered with.
Xia Qingtian’s brow furrowed instantly, and she went to ask Uncle Wang if any servants had been in her room today.
The answer was a categorical no.
A look of understanding suddenly dawned on Xia Qingtian’s face.
Since it wasn’t any of the villa’s servants who entered her room, there was only one other person it could be—
Chen Momo!
Xia Qingtian asked Uncle Wang again if Chen Momo had displayed any unusual behavior today, what she had said, or what she had done.
After careful consideration, Uncle Wang recalled Chen Momo’s inquiries about her whereabouts as well as her phone call back to the old house, all of which he relayed to Xia.
A cryptic glint flickered in Xia Qingtian’s eyes.
After thanking Uncle Wang, she returned to her room and opened her computer.
She gazed at the two emails on the screen and brainstormed.
She finally understood why Bo Jingyan and Chen Momo had arrived so promptly, as well as the role Chen Momo had played in this matter…
She was the instigator!
All Chen Momo had done was in an attempt to hinder her questioning of Shen Yaxuan.
If the two of them were innocent, why would they be afraid? Why would Chen Momo try to stop her?
Sometimes, the more one does, the more mistakes they make.
Although Xia Qingtian hadn’t gotten the answer she wanted from Shen Yaxuan, she drew a conclusion from Chen Momo’s behavior.
There’s a high possibility that Shen Yaxuan had deceived her.
The child in her womb might not be Shen Yaxuan’s but Bo Jingyan’s flesh and blood.
That’s why Chen Momo was so eager to stop her from discovering the truth.
Chen Momo also liked Bo Jingyan and wanted to take him away from her.
Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan harbored feelings for each other and were legally married. If the child in her womb was indeed Bo Jingyan’s, then Chen Momo would stand no chance at all.
A shadow of a tumultuous emotion flickered in Xia Qingtian’s eyes.
Chen Momo certainly hadn’t dreamt of this.
Her efforts to prevent Xia Qingtian from discovering the truth had instead solidified Xia’s suspicions and allowed her to glimpse a corner of the truth.
Xia Qingtian felt a surge of excitement, but she eventually managed to suppress it.
What if she had guessed the truth? She had no evidence!
After today’s incident, Chen Momo and Shen Yaxuan were sure to be on guard against her. Trying to probe further would likely prove impossible. Was she supposed to go confirm with Bo Jingyan?
She wouldn’t dare!
Even if she was 90% sure that she had been deceived by Shen Yaxuan and that the child in her womb was Bo Jingyan’s, she couldn’t take the gamble as there was still a 10% chance of risk.
Was there any other way to find out the truth without relying on anyone?
Xia Qingtian’s brain worked at full speed.
Suddenly, an idea flashed through her mind; she’d thought of a solution.
She could have a paternity test done on the unborn child and Bo Jingyan.
Although the baby hadn’t yet been born, medical technology was advanced enough to allow for amniocentesis for DNA testing and prove whether or not there was a blood relation between the unborn child and Bo Jingyan.
The more Xia Qingtian thought about it, the more feasible this idea seemed.
No matter how many cunning schemes there were, they would all buckle under absolute evidence.
As long as she could prove the child in her belly was Bo Jingyan’s, she wouldn’t have to bother investigating anything else.
If she had a plan, then she needed to act on it.
Xia Qingtian quickly searched online for authoritative agencies that could perform a paternity test.
The next day, after Bo Jingyan had left for work, Xia Qingtian secretly sneaked into his room and found a strand of his hair on his bed, which she carefully collected, before heading to the testing agency.
Soon after, the sample collection was completed.
However, the results from the DNA paternity test wouldn’t be out so quickly; it would take about a week.
Though Xia Qingtian wanted the results immediately, she knew it was impossible.
All she could do was keep the receipt and wait patiently for the results.
After resting for two hours at the testing agency, she was ready to leave.
However, upon leaving, Xia Qingtian didn’t feel like going back to the villa and facing Chen Momo.
As she was contemplating where to go to pass the time, she was surprised to discover that the testing agency was not far from the Bo Group. It would be about a five-minute walk.
The test results hadn’t come out yet, but Xia Qingtian had basically concluded that Bo Jingyan was the man from that night.
Thinking that the child in her womb was a product of their love, she felt her heart soften and had a sudden urge to see him.
Thinking that Bo Jingyan might still be mad, she bought a bouquet of yellow roses, symbolizing apology, from a flower shop along the way intending to give it to him as a means of apology.
Xia Qingtian showed up at the Bo Group, bouquet in hand.
However, upon arriving, Bo Jingyan, stating that he was busy, refused to see her.
Xia Qingtian wasn’t angered.
If he was busy, then she would wait for him in the guest room. When he was done with his work, she could see him.
And so, Xia Qingtian waited for him the entire day.
In the middle of the day, she grew too tired and accidentally fell asleep.
In the end, she was awoken by Jian Xuan.
Upon seeing Jian Xuan, Xia Qingtian’s eyes lit up. She initially thought that Bo Jingyan was finally finished with his work and wanted to see her.
She immediately got up, bouquet in hand, ready to see Bo Jingyan.
However, she was stopped by Jian Xuan, who informed her that Bo Jingyan had gone on a business trip out of town, had already left the company, and was likely already at the airport.
Xia Qingtian was suddenly filled with disappointment.
She was waiting for him at the company, yet he was leaving on a business trip without even telling her.
She realized then and there that Bo Jingyan was still upset with her and didn’t want to see her.
Xia Qingtian had no choice but to return home disappointed. She sent Bo Jingyan a few messages every day clearly hinting at reconciliatory intentions, but all of them fell on deaf ears.
Bo Jingyan never replied even once.
Two days later, he finally returned from his business trip, but his attitude towards her remained cold and distant.
Xia Qingtian was utterly helpless around him.
She’d rather have Bo Jingyan acting like he used to, losing his temper at her. At least then she could think of a way to handle him.
It was better than now, when he treated her like a stranger.
Chen Momo watched the interaction between Xia Qingtian and Bo Jingyan, her heart filled with a sense of jubilation.
It appeared that the incident at the bar not only prevented Xia Qingtian from probing anything from Shen Yaxuan, but also made Bo Jingyan see her true flirtatious nature.
He still refused to forgive her, let alone give her any attention, up until now.
She believed that no matter how deep the affection, time and indifference would ultimately erode it.
When the time came, Bo Jingyan would certainly cast Xia Qingtian aside and then it would be her turn.
