Chapter 180 - 180 180 In His Heart_1
Chapter 180: Chapter 180: In His Heart_1 Chapter 180: Chapter 180: In His Heart_1 Xia Qingtian instantly felt as though her heart was squeezed, causing waves of intense pain.
She hadn’t expected Bo Jingyan’s injuries to be so severe.
She forced herself to remain calm. Right now, the most important task was to disinfect and dress his wounds.
Xia Qingtian had tended to Bo Jingyan’s injuries before, so she meticulously and gently tended to his wounds now.
Once everything was done, she found out that not only did Bo Jingyan’s fever not subside, but it had become even worse. She could not wake him up.
She continued the same routine of giving him fever-reducing medication and used alcohol and damp towels to help physically cool him down.
She worked tirelessly from morning till midnight before his fever finally subsided.
Xia Qingtian was so exhausted that she could not lift a finger. She felt like she could fall asleep on the spot, but was worried about Bo Jingyan’s condition changing or that he might need her in the night.
In the end, she simply held Bo Jingyan’s hand with one hand and, propping her chin with the other, managed to fall asleep like that.
The next day.
As the sky began to brighten, Bo Jingyan woke up.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he felt the breathing of another person beside him and his hand being tightly held.
He took a look and saw Xia Qingtian, with a haggard face, sound asleep at the edge of the bed.
Seeing Xia Qingtian, Bo Jingyan couldn’t help but reveal a soft look in his eyes and instinctively wanted to hold her hand.
But the thought of the child in Xia Qingtian’s stomach abruptly stopped him, and the tenderness in his eyes quickly faded away.
He emotionlessly withdrew his hand and prepared to leave the bed.
However, before leaving, he couldn’t help himself and ended up lifting the worn-out Xia Qingtian onto the bed.
…
When Xia Qingtian woke up, she found herself lying in his bed and Bo Jingyan was nowhere to be found.
She sat up abruptly.
Where was Bo Jingyan?
He was injured. Where could he have gone?
Had his grandfather not cooled down yet and thought Bo Jingyan’s punishment was insufficient and had called him to the ancestral hall again?
With such thoughts, Xia Qingtian’s heart curled up in anxiety. Without a second thought, she jumped out of bed and ran out of the room.
As she ran downstairs, she saw Bo Jingyan walking in from the outside.
Xia Qingtian immediately rushed over and subconsciously threw herself into his arms, avoiding his injuries. She tightly hugged him, “Mr Bo, are you all right?”
Bo Jingyan pushed her away. His reply was ice cold, “Rest assured, I’m not dead yet.”
Noticing his indifference and remembering his protection of her in the ancestral hall, a deep sense of loss welled up inside her.
She knew the situation was critical that day and Bo Jingyan’s protection didn’t mean anything.
With these thoughts, her expression turned bitter. “Mr Bo, your injury…”
“Why aren’t you wearing shoes?”
Before she could finish speaking, Bo Jingyan asked her a question sharply.
Xia Qingtian looked down and realized that she had been so anxious that she hadn’t put on shoes before running downstairs.
Before she could say anything, she suddenly felt herself being lifted into the air by Bo Jingyan.
Xia Qingtian instinctively held onto his neck.
Bo Jingyan carried her back to the room and placed her on the bed. He then coldly reminded her, “Put your shoes on. Be careful not to catch a cold.”
Xia Qingtian’s feeling of loss was greatly alleviated. Even if he was cold towards her, he still cared for her and loved her.
She gratefully thanked him. “Mr. Bo, thank you.”
Bo Jingyan cast a cold glance at her. “Don’t get the wrong idea. I’m just doing this so you won’t upset my grandfather.”
Xia Qingtian looked slightly embarrassed. She didn’t pursue the topic but instead attended to his wounds again.
In the afternoon, the two of them ate lunch together.
Bo’s grandfather had someone make soup for Bo Jingyan that would aid in his recovery and then gave him a reminder.
“You rascal, it was Qingqing who has been tirelessly taking care of you day and night which made your fever recede quickly. If it were not for her, you would still be lying in bed for the next few days like before.”
“Qingqing is being so good to you, if you dare to bully her again, even if Qingqing intercedes for you, you will still be whipped twenty times. You understand?”
“Yes, I understand,” Bo Jingyan replied, not wanting to upset his grandfather.
He even specially picked a piece of pork rib and placed it into Xia Qingtian’s bowl, remarking, “You’re eating for two now. Eat more.”
Even though she knew he was doing this just for his grandfather to see, Xia Qingtian felt a bit of happiness nonetheless.
She cherished the pork rib and ate it.
Following that, Bo’s grandfather mentioned that Xia Qingtian had a prenatal check-up at the hospital the next day, and that he had made a doctor’s appointment for her and would accompany her.
“There’s no need…” said Bo Jingyan, raising his eyes. “I will accompany Qingtian to the hospital tomorrow.”
Upon hearing his words, Xia Qingtian stiffened. She was worried that Bo Jingyan would once again try to force her to abort the baby and instinctively wanted to refuse.
However, before she could come up with an excuse, Bo’s grandfather spoke, “Alright, you handle this.”
He believed that raising a child was not just Xia Qingtian’s responsibility. It was best for Bo Jingyan to be involved as well, so that he developed feelings for the child and became a responsible man.
Moreover, he knew Bo Jingyan well, and knew that having given his word, he would not do anything to harm Qingtian or the baby.
And so, the matter was decided.
Xia Qingtian had no way to object. Her face turned pale and she got lost in thoughts several times during meal-time. She accidentally ate too much and couldn’t help but frown.
Bo Jingyan didn’t miss her discomfort. A quick thought told him what she was worrying about.
After their meal, despite her resistance, he forced her to take a walk outside to help her digestion.
During their walk, Xia Qingtian consistently, albeit unconsciously, kept her distance from him, trying to stay away from him.
Bo Jingyan knew she was guarding against him.
Realizing this, he was a bit displeased.
However, he also understood why Xia Qingtian was behaving like this.
Bo Jingyan took a deep breath, grabbed her arm, and made her stop.
“Let go of me…” Xia Qingtian’s body shook in fear and she began to struggle instinctively.
Bo Jingyan didn’t let go of her. He looked at her with a slightly annoyed expression. “Xia Qingtian, there are some things I want to tell you for the last time. Listen carefully.”
