Chapter 363: Chapter 362: Benefactor Shen
Assistant Chen was trying to urge Boss Shen to leave quickly; he planned to go back and help that family.
However, before Assistant Chen could speak up, he saw his boss walk past him and leave a message, "I’ll go help!"
Assistant Chen’s eyes widened as he watched his boss approach the family of four; he didn’t know what was said, but Boss Shen picked up one of the little boys and then hastened back.
The child’s father, also carrying a child, walked quickly, occasionally looking back at the child’s mother, who had just fallen and was hurt.
When Shen Yi passed by Assistant Chen with the child in his arms, he said quickly, "Hurry up!"
"Okay!" Assistant Chen promptly agreed and followed.
The group soon reached the site of the previous collapse, and Shen Yi reminded them again, "Be careful, and hurry across!"
This spot had just experienced a collapse, making it even more prone to accidents; nobody knew when another piece might fall from above, so they could only be extremely cautious.
What was normally a ten-minute drive turned into a relentless run under the heavy rain, seemingly without an end.
Although carrying the child was strenuous for Shen Yi, he never stopped moving. Assistant Chen went to help the child’s father carry the other child, allowing the father to support the injured mother.
They walked for a long time, but thankfully, they reached the temple safely.
By that time, the temple was already filled with quite a number of people, clearly all worried about accidents on the road, seeking temporary shelter.
Having braved through the heavy rain, everyone was thoroughly soaked; they all looked quite bedraggled standing under the eaves.
The temple seemed very deserted; Shen Yi only saw a monk running back and forth, boiling water, and brewing ginger tea.
Shen Yi and Assistant Chen, two grown men, didn’t scramble for anything, allowing the few children and women to bathe and change clothes first.
Shen Yi stood in a corner of the temple, first taking off his jacket, and then pulling something out from the jacket’s pocket.
It was a mobile phone wrapped in a document folder. Before getting out of the car, worried that his phone would be damaged by water, he had put it in the document folder meant for papers.
The document folder wasn’t a sealed bag, and with the torrential rain, water had inevitably seeped in.
Frowning, Shen Yi took out his phone, and upon seeing it light up, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Just as he was about to send a message to Ye Wanwan to let her know he was safe, a voice suddenly sounded from behind him.
"Benefactor Shen."
A somewhat hoarse voice spoke, and Shen Yi instinctively turned around to see an elderly monk standing behind him.
Shen Yi, not being a believer in gods or Buddhas, didn’t know how to properly address the other, and merely nodded slightly, "I’m sorry for disturbing you."
The monk just smiled and shook his head, then pointed to a spot not far away, where Shen Yi followed his gaze.
There, a monk was pouring tea for people; it must have been the ginger tea brewed earlier.
Shortly after, he heard the old monk say, "Benefactor Shen, go have a cup of ginger tea as well."
Shen Yi instinctively declined, but before he had finished speaking, Assistant Chen had already rushed over with a cup of ginger tea.
"Boss Shen, have a cup. Otherwise, you’re definitely going to catch a cold today." As Assistant Chen spoke, he had already begun to shiver.
It was mid-October, and not really cold, but the heavy rain had drenched them to the bone, and standing in their wet clothes now, they couldn’t help but feel cold.
