Chapter 352: Chapter 351: You’ve Worked Hard
Ye Wanwan, amidst the few surprised stares of the other diners at the restaurant, covered her mouth and ran toward the direction of the restroom, followed closely by Shen Yi.
Someone among them seemed to recognize the pair, their curiosity piqued as they asked their partner, "Isn’t that Ye Wanwan and Shen Yi?"
"It looks like them."
"What’s wrong with Ye Wanwan?"
"Doesn’t she look like she’s going to throw up?"
"..."
Ye Wanwan had already reached the restroom and began to vomit over the basin as soon as she leaned over it, with Shen Yi, disregarding everything else, rushing straight into the women’s restroom.
It was unclear whether it was due to good luck or because the restaurant was sparsely populated, but there were no other women inside while Ye Wanwan was vomiting.
Instead, the restaurant manager came over and inquired whether something was amiss with Mrs. Shen. Was she feeling unwell, or was there an issue with the food?
Shen Yi couldn’t be bothered to reply, as he was busy gently patting Ye Wanwan’s back; the manager quickly instructed someone to bring water.
After Ye Wanwan finished vomiting and rinsed her mouth, she explained to the manager while catching her breath, "It’s not the food’s fault, it’s my own issue. I’m sorry."
The manager, visibly relieved, then asked, "Do you need to rest in the lounge for a bit?"
Ye Wanwan shook her head, "I’m fine."
The manager nodded, "Then I’ll leave you be. If Mr. and Mrs. Shen need any assistance, please call me at any time."
Once the manager had left, Shen Yi, with a slight frown and a face full of concern, asked, "How are you feeling now?"
Ye Wanwan nodded, forcing a smile while looking at Shen Yi, "Our dinner was going so well, and I messed it up again."
Lately, her pregnancy symptoms had been quite severe, causing her to vomit almost every meal. Shen Yi always ended up watching her throw up while eating, and by the time she finished, neither of them had the appetite anymore.
Today was their wedding anniversary, and they had planned on enjoying a romantic candlelit dinner, which, unfortunately, ended with vomiting as well.
However, Shen Yi didn’t care about that at all; his heart was brimming with sympathy, but he was powerless to help, ultimately saying in a deep voice, "You’re working so hard."
Hearing Shen Yi speak like that, Ye Wanwan smiled faintly, and it seemed as if the discomfort caused by the recent bout of vomiting had subsided.
The two returned to the restaurant, and Shen Yi reordered, opting for simple spaghetti and a fruit salad.
Though they didn’t consume any heavy main courses, Ye Wanwan managed not to vomit this time, and they somewhat made it through that candlelit dinner.
By the time they finished eating, it was already past eight in the evening. Even though it was still September and quite warm, the night had cooled down significantly compared to June or July.
Shen Yi took Ye Wanwan for a stroll in the park by the lake. There were many people in the park: young couples, elderly grandparents, and most of all, parents playing with their children.
A girl of about three or four held onto a string tied to a helium balloon in the shape of a little duck.
The girl, not watching where she was going, nearly toppled at Ye Wanwan’s feet, prompting both Ye Wanwan and Shen Yi to hurriedly reach out to catch her.
The girl’s parents were following close behind and quickly came forward, the mother scolding her daughter for not being careful and running off, while the father apologized to Ye Wanwan and Shen Yi.
Afterward, the parents held the little girl’s hands from each side, with the girl so thrilled she seemed to lift off the ground.
Shen Yi and Ye Wanwan watched the family of three walk away, each feeling an indescribable emotion deep inside.
