Chapter 889: Chapter 868: Hello, Nana Jensen
Nana Jensen’s large, dark eyes fixed on Brother Thompson, who had just been kicked out of bed, only to realize that Brother Thompson didn’t seem the least bit pitiful. In fact, as he got up from the thick blanket on the floor, he even respectfully bowed to Michael Gordon and Ivy Aretha.
"Uncle Michael, Auntie Ivy, I had a bit too much to drink last night, and we really didn’t do anything!"
"Ahem, drunkenness leads to chaos, doesn’t it? Only after drinking too much does one do something!"
Michael Gordon glanced at him indifferently, his eyes continuously signaling to him, "If something really had happened, Uncle Michael and Auntie Ivy wouldn’t blame you. After all, Bianca will be your wife sooner or later, so what difference does it make whether it happens sooner or later?"
Roy Thompson: "..."
His father-in-law was even more indulgent than his own father, who had stressed more than once not to do anything inappropriate to Bianca. Now this father-in-law seemed quite supportive!
"Daddy, I’m still in school, what on earth are you saying!"
Bella Gordon was about to stomp her foot in bed; this didn’t seem like her father at all. "You’re corrupting the nation’s flowers!"
Michael Gordon: "..."
She’s still the nation’s flower?
Are there flowers as old as eighteen in the nation?
"Alright, stop dawdling, it’s just rolling around in bed sheets, nothing to see here. Everyone go down," Ivy Aretha finally shooed everyone out, "You two, take a shower and come down for breakfast!"
Both of them reeked of alcohol, and Ivy Aretha was really fed up. Her darling daughter really was brave, even daring to hang out with classmates at the bar. It was about time for Roy to take charge. At least she could relax with him; he wouldn’t let Bella be taken advantage of. If it were someone else, who knows?
A bunch of people were chased downstairs by Ivy Aretha to have breakfast, leaving just the two of them in the room. Bella Gordon didn’t even glance at him but just sat on the bed, her face so unsightly that it was beyond description.
"Bianca, last night... I really drank too much last night!" At a time like this, even if he hadn’t drunk too much, he could only claim he had because otherwise, the anger would be enormous.
"Roy Thompson, you’re really a scoundrel!" With that, a bolster pillow was hurled fiercely at his head, "In front of so many people, you didn’t even explain. How do you expect those little brothers and sisters to look at me, huh? Where do I put my face?"
Being caught in the act in front of so many people, whether this man would explain or not, she had already seen Nana Jensen and Auntie Lina. That meant outsiders were involved, and now everyone might think she was a bad girl who didn’t learn her lessons!
"Where do you put your face?" Hearing these words, Roy Thompson’s heart sunk to the ocean floor, and all color drained from his face in an instant. "Being misunderstood to have been with me that way devalues you that much, Bella Gordon? Is it because you fancied that nerd from last night? That’s why you’re finding me so disagreeable, even a single misunderstanding is unacceptable?"
It should be clear for those who are innocent; nothing had happened between them at all. Was she really justified in being this angry?
"Why are you rudely calling someone a ’nerd’, Roy Thompson? How can you insult people like that?"
Bella Gordon was so angry that she got up and slammed the door shut; she headed to the room next door to wash up, leaving Roy Thompson standing there dumbfounded, blood draining from his face long before he could calm down. His little sister Bella had really grown up; she no longer seemed dependent on him.
But why, when he had been longing for her to grow up every day, did he find himself wishing she was still a little girl whose world revolved only around her big brother Roy? Was his possessiveness too strong?
So he saw threats in every man?
His clothes reeked of the bar, and men had no right to be temperamental, so Roy quickly took a shower, then dressed in the clothes the servant had brought. When he went downstairs, everyone was already at the dining table, except for Bella.
"Roy, come and have breakfast!" Ivy Aretha called out to him as soon as he descended the stairs, "Oh, you remember Auntie Lina, right? And this is little sister Nora, do you remember her? It must be many years since you’ve seen each other!"
Hearing Ivy’s words, Roy glanced indifferently at the girl with pigtail braids sitting next to Lina Miller. With fair skin and delicate features, the twelve or thirteen years old girl was already showing signs of beauty. She bore a great resemblance to Auntie Lina, and she was quiet and well-behaved, but Roy could still vaguely recognize the image of the little girl who used to follow them around.
"Of course, I remember. Hello, little sister Nirina, do you remember me?" Roy greeted her politely in response to Ivy, "But you were only two years old then; you probably don’t remember much. Human memory isn’t complete until the age of five; everything before that is incomplete!"
As he said this, and saw Nana Jensen just blinking curiously at him, he added, "However, if I’m lucky, I might become one of the fragments you remember before you turned five!"
"Congratulations, you’re quite lucky, I do remember you, Brother Thompson!"
Nana listened intently to what he said and then added, "You were so stingy back then, you wouldn’t even let her share a piece of the chocolate you gave to Sister Bianca!"
Roy Thompson: "..."
Was he really that stingy?
He didn’t recall ever being the miserly sort!
"But now I understand; that was a token of love you gave to Sister Bianca, so it wasn’t for me!" Nana glanced at him and said smartly, "I know what it means when a boy gives a girl chocolate now, sorry, Brother Thompson!"
But for some reason, as she said sorry, why did her chest feel so heavy? The air in the house hardly seemed fresh anymore!
"I’m the one who should be sorry, I was young and foolish back then!"
Roy seemed uninterested in hearing her continue and politely excused himself, before turning to Ivy with a look of difficulty, "Auntie Ivy, it seems Bella is a bit mad at me. Last night, I really didn’t do anything to her, and I wouldn’t hurt her!"
Ivy Aretha: "..."
"Not do anything to her?" Ivy paused while ladling out soup, "Does that mean you’re thinking of not wanting her as your wife anymore?"
"No, no, no, how could that be? Why wouldn’t I want her? What I meant is, I won’t do anything to her before we’re married. I assure you in front of everyone here, and I ask you all to trust me, I won’t let Bella suffer or get hurt!"
