Chapter 856: Chapter 835: Won’t Move!
Adam drove them back, so Ariana Hunt’s car was not needed and was driven away by the driver.
Having worked as Michael Gordon’s assistant for so many years, Adam’s income was naturally beyond question. Besides, the hefty money gift Michael Gordon had given for his wedding allowed Adam to buy a new villa for his marriage. However, since they got married in a hurry, the villa was still being renovated, so they were currently living in Adam’s original apartment.
Ariana naturally had a villa too, but as the saying goes, a married woman follows her husband. Ariana did not choose to live in her own villa as such a decision could be seen as a slight to a man’s dignity. Therefore, having married, she decided to live with Adam instead.
"Uh, sorry for having you stay in this small place with me!" Adam said somewhat apologetically, helping her with her slippers, "The villa is being renovated. I’m decorating it in the style you like. Next month, we can move in!"
"No need!"
Ariana casually uttered three words while changing her shoes, immediately causing Adam’s body to stiffen. The movement of holding her bag froze, and the scene from the hospital, where the four were joking, flashed through his mind. He quickly tried to clarify, "Um, Ariana, that was just a joke, don’t take it seriously. Although Lucas Sandy seems cold and not the humorous type, he really is quite funny. Everything he said was just for laughs; don’t take it to heart!"
If she took it to heart, he might find himself without a wife!
Though he felt like a living widow with a wife, it was better than being without one to mourn!
"A joke?" Upon hearing these words, Ariana finally finished changing her shoes, slightly frowning as she took her bag from his hands, then asked, "Are you saying that the conversation about having a contest to have children was a joke?"
This notion clearly upset Ariana, though she didn’t show it, her mood had sunk deep down.
"Yes!" Adam, oblivious to Ariana’s low spirits, well-hidden as they were, responded, "He’s just outspoken, it was said in jest, no rush about having children!"
"No rush?" Ariana questioned, then followed up, "Is it not urgent, or is it that you don’t want them?"
She couldn’t help but feel like this man didn’t want children!
"Of course, it’s not urgent. How could I not want them?" In urgent situations, it was easy for one’s deepest desires to be revealed. He certainly wanted children, especially with a Goddess!
But was having children something he could just decide to have?
Shouldn’t one avoid being too greedy? Having a Goddess and then wanting a Goddess’s children, Adam thought he might be getting too greedy. Moreover, Ariana was building her career, and he did not see her as the kind of woman who should be confined at home, nor did he expect her to abandon her career for him!
He had the means to support a Goddess, but it all hinged on whether she would let him!
"It’s good that you want them!" Upon receiving his answer, Ariana made a silent resolution; it was time to improve things between them, "Since we want children, there’s no need to rush into the newly bought villa. A newly renovated house isn’t as suitable for nurturing a pregnancy as one that has been lived in for a longer time. Even if you use the best eco-friendly renovation materials, it’s still hard to achieve that!"
Adam: "..."
What did that mean?
It seemed he was somewhat confused, or rather, he felt he was beginning to understand.
But he had trouble believing this answer. He just stood dumbfounded at the entrance, unable to utter a word for a long time, until Ariana gave him a faint glance and said she was going to take a shower first.
What Ariana Hunt had not expected was that after she finished her bath and came out, Michael still stood there, motionless like a statue, with only a faint smile on his face that was somewhat peculiar—not quite happy, but certainly not sad either. Upon closer inspection, he seemed to be unbelievably excited.
"Why haven’t you gone to take a shower?"
"Oh!" Hearing her words, Michael shook off his daydream-like state and rushed into the bathroom, only to realize after entering that he had forgotten to bring his pajama clothes.
Drat!
Back when Ariana hadn’t returned, forgetting to bring clothes wasn’t a big deal—he could just come out naked and get dressed then. But now, obviously, it wasn’t acceptable!
"Cough cough, Ariana..."
"Did you forget to bring your clothes again?" Hearing his voice, Ariana couldn’t help but laugh out loud. She didn’t need to guess; she already knew that was the issue. She was well aware of how forgetful this man could be.
"Yes! Could you bring them for me?"
"Open the cupboard in the bathroom; I’ve already put your pajamas in there!" After speaking, the woman complained like countless other wives in the world, "I knew you would forget!"
I knew you would forget!!!
I knew you would forget!!!
Adam’s mind exploded with this phrase, his consciousness endlessly circling in his head, drawn to her deeply as if by a magnet. The messy and bold thoughts seemed to find a bit of comforting warmth, a feeling akin to "It’s so good to have a wife" blossoming in his heart.
The most beautiful affection in the world is nothing but mutual comfort, and this mutual comfort was simply her complaining to him when he forgot, "I knew you would forget!"
Adam didn’t even know with what kind of mood he finished his shower; he just knew that when he came out, he was surprised to see the woman he thought would have gone to bed early still lying there, reading the script. What surprised him more was that, previously due to Ariana’s frequent business trips, there was only his quilt on the bed. But now there was still only one quilt!
It looked untouched, which put Adam at a loss for what to do!
Should he get her another quilt, or just share the one quilt between them? In essence, of course, he wanted to be like every husband in the world and share the same quilt with his wife. But the fact remained that his wife wasn’t like every other wife in the world—she was his goddess!
He had the desire but not the nerve!
"You... you... you’re still reading the script!" After hesitating for a while, Adam eventually stammered out the question he wanted to ask, "Have you been very busy lately?"
What was clearly meant as a casual conversation became somewhat contrived and guilty because of his subconscious desire to share a quilt with her.
"Not busy!"
Ariana didn’t look at him, just continued to flip through the script in her hands, "Moving forward, I won’t be very busy either!"
Her implication was that they could start having kids now, but the man seemed cluelessly unresponsive to the hint!
