Chapter 805: Chapter 784 Can I be even more promising?
"I’m fine!"
Ivy Aretha replied dazedly, her expression frozen in shock as if she couldn’t believe that she had unknowingly escaped several deliberate assassination attempts. Ignorance had been bliss, but now, the knowledge of it only brought fear for what might have been. What if she had died? What would become of her baby?
Only five years old!
The thought of Bianca made Ivy shudder with fear. At that time, she was her only family member, even Michael Gordon wasn’t aware that he was her biological father. If she had lost her life in the car accident orchestrated by Alya Larson, her precious daughter would have been left without a mommy. The loneliness her child would have felt was unbearable to even imagine.
"Honey, you look pale. Should I call Lucas Sandy over to take a look?"
Although there was a doctor appointed for the wedding, ever since Lucas Sandy had saved Ivy from a car accident last time, Michael Gordon instinctively trusted only him, as if the team of experts he employed were mere decoration.
While he was speaking, Michael had already picked up his phone to make a call, but just as the phone rang at the other end, it was snatched from his hand. Turning his head, he saw Ivy decisively pressing the end call button on the phone she had taken from him.
"Lucas Sandy just carried Alette back, can’t you let him do what a man should be doing?" A brief separation makes a happy reunion. Considering their chemistry, they were likely setting the bed on fire at that moment. "I’m fine!"
She was just a bit shaken, no need to make a big fuss about it!
"Oh!"
Reminded by Ivy’s words, Michael suddenly remembered that Lucas Sandy had mentioned it was his marital night too. Only then did he recall he had arranged a whole team of Obstetrics and Gynecology experts as well, "Honey, are you sure you’re okay? Maybe I should ask Doctor Stones to come up and check on you?"
Michael Gordon watched carefully as he spoke to Ivy, whose delicate face looked somewhat bewildered. He regretted blurting out his concerns without considering the psychological shadows it might cast on her.
Michael internally berated himself as an idiot for his thoughtlessness.
"No need, Michael, I’m really fine!"
Finally, as Michael kept asking to have a doctor come over, Ivy snapped out of recollecting his words, realizing she had worried the man. She smiled and said to him, "You really are worrying over me like a nanny!"
Nanny?
A twitch appeared at the corner of Michael’s eyes. He didn’t want to treat her like a nanny. Nannies are valuable, but he wanted her to be his personal treasure.
"How can a nanny compare to the preciousness of my wife!" In Mr. Gordon’s eyes, of course, his wife was more valuable, but even so, he didn’t forget that tonight was their bridal chamber night, "Honey, tonight is our bridal chamber night. We canceled the pranks, but that doesn’t mean our benefits are canceled too, does it?"
He had first met her at the age of seven; now at twenty-eight, it had been exactly twenty-one years—a long wait for today’s beautiful culmination. Clearly, Michael Gordon was excited, even though it was just a formality!
"Benefits? What other benefits do you want?" Ivy playfully slapped his chest, looking at his face that clearly showed his desire yet struggled to contain it. She couldn’t help but laugh out loud. It seemed her man had abstained from physical intimacy for nearly a year now.
Such a long wait was truly a test of a man’s sincerity. During this time, Michael had stayed by her side almost every night, occasionally making provocative comments, but always very careful with her health. He was more mindful than even she was during her pregnancy, almost paranoid that he might harm her without intending to.
I used to find it amusing, secretly admiring my own charm for taming such a notorious playboy. It wasn’t until today’s wedding that Ivy Aretha truly understood.
It wasn’t the magnitude of her charm, but rather that during her most innocent years, she had deeply buried herself into his soul. Since then, he turned resistant to change, incapable of even forgetting her, with each reunion entwined with deep love.
She always thought her life was tragic, an orphan from her earliest memories, accompanied only by loneliness and the strength coerced out of her by life, each step taken bitterly. But only today did she realize that it wasn’t bitterness, but a test of fate bestowed upon her.
How fortunate she was to be so deeply loved by such a man in this life. She had already forgotten, yet he still remembered—five years old, too young, twenty-one years, too long. And yet, this man remembered it all!
Seeing the man’s face crumple upon hearing her words, Ivy’s smile deepened, her hand gently lifting and reaching toward his cheek. Her fingertips grazed over his face, her bright smile blooming yet causing every pore on the man’s body to bristle: "Look at my belly. You still want benefits? Don’t tell me that at this time, you still want to tumble in the bed sheets?"
Michael Gordon: "..."
Isn’t it normal for him to want to tumble in the bed sheets?
Not wanting to is the abnormal part, after all. Which normal man wouldn’t want such things?
"Just thinking about it, not saying we have to do it!" Michael had been extremely cautious since Ivy got pregnant, never having been beastly with her in these matters, let alone with someone about to give birth. Twins, no less—that’s serious business. But then, not tumbling in the bed sheets doesn’t mean there can’t be other bridal chamber festivities. "However, wife, it seems you’ve given me not even a slight advantage. I keep feeling like you haven’t really married me, this unreal sensation, so, wife..."
"So you want to touch a bit to get your fix?"
Without a second thought, Ivy took his words and laughed, "Husband, is that all the ambition you have?"
Michael Gordon: "..."
"Wife, are you saying I could be even more ambitious?" Like helping the lady of the house with a bath?
The very thought of this benefit made Mr. Gordon’s eyes light up, as his wife’s beauty was always something to yearn for, anytime.
"Pfft!"
This appearance really made Ivy feel like a shrew, suddenly giving rise to the desire to tease him, "Husband, then how do you propose being a little more ambitious?"
Uh?
What does that mean...?
No matter the meaning of those words, that look clearly hinted at the possibility of a treat, right?
Was it perhaps the emotional confession at today’s wedding that moved her? So now she wanted to give him a little treat?
After all, it is the bridal chamber night. As a man, not to have any expectations at all would also be impossible, right?
