Chapter 801: Chapter 780: The Strongest Husband!

Alya Larson stared blankly at Michael Gordon, feeling rather dazed. A suffocating ache made it impossible for her to utter a single word, and her entire being seemed enshrouded by a layer of faint shadow. Seeing him, Alya felt overwhelmed with a barrage of emotions.

She yearned for this face, yet she also feared it!

Before his memory loss, she had harbored feelings for him, only to be sternly rejected, kept at a distance like an unwanted stranger. She made many maneuvers but not only failed to win him over; she was also exposed, and he pushed her even further away. Then he lost his memory, and she thought she finally had her chance. But what was the outcome?

Even though she had gone through her mother to win his father over, and managed to don the title of Michael Gordon’s fiancée, he still didn’t accept her. There were numerous times she couldn’t fathom why; she had been arrogant and selfish before, but over these seven years, she had corrected all her faults, yet she hadn’t changed one bit in his eyes!

She had placed herself so high, with only him in her heart, but his heart remained stuck on that girl from seven years ago—the one he never stopped loving and never gave up on!

"Mr. Gordon, I’m sorry,"

Alya didn’t dare to raise her head to meet his gaze, which was as if he were looking at an enemy. She spoke softly, "Could you please release my mother and Skyler? After all, Uncle Gordon is fine now. Let them off this once, I promise they won’t ever consider such thoughts again, and I assure you they’ll have no chance to, because I’m going to leave Andras City with them!"

Sammy Lowe had already agreed to marry her. Whatever the reason, she would be joining the royal family. The premise was, Orchid Kingdom was still Ivy Aretha’s homeland, and Sammy was Ivy’s cousin. By marrying him, she could still hold a higher status than Ivy Aretha!

With the incident involving Skyler and Risa Scott, leaving Andras City was their best option. Judging by the current circumstances, Skyler didn’t stand a chance of snatching Allure International from Michael Gordon—it was a pipe dream. Previously, there was support from Calvin Gordon, but even he had now warmly accepted Ivy Aretha as his daughter-in-law and made peace with his son!

After all, blood is thicker than water. The bond of kinship isn’t the same as parental grace. She hadn’t understood before, but she did now. No matter what unforgivable deeds Michael committed, Calvin Gordon could forgive his son in the end, but the same could not be said for Skyler.

If Skyler stepped on his Achilles’ heel, he wouldn’t get a chance to turn things around!

In the end, only family is reliable. She had to rescue them first. As for everything else, she would figure it out later. Life is long, with fortunes flipping like the sides of a river. As long as one is alive and well, rising up again is just a matter of opportunity.

"You promise? What will you guarantee it with?" Michael Gordon gave her a glance devoid of expression, almost laughing as he spoke. The request she made seemed to him like a joke, his high and mighty demeanor inspiring awe yet still stirring emotions. However, the words he spoke were cold enough to send chills, "Alya, I spared you from being locked up because during our cooperation with Sammy Lowe you showed a hint of kindness and didn’t interfere. Otherwise, by now, you’d be squatting behind bars with them!"

"Alya, doesn’t anyone surpass you in having the guts to bear the consequences for their actions? Dare to kill, but not dare to sit in prison?"

Michael coldly watched her, "I’m eradicating threats to society. These two have never done anything good in their lives. They need a good, long reflection until they’re done causing harm, which isn’t just a problem for me, Michael Gordon, alone!"

Last time, Yuri Sanders nearly cost Ivy Aretha three lives, and even now, the thought of that scene gives me shivers. This time, Michael had made up his mind: no matter how Ivy pleaded, he would not relent!

Being a saint is one thing, but as a man, I haven’t the slightest desire to entertain such thoughts!

"Michael! Gordon! Don’t you think you’re being too harsh? Who can guarantee they won’t make mistakes in their lifetime? Shouldn’t people be given a margin for error instead of being driven to their breaking point?" This supposed ’breaking point’ was precisely her current state. "Even Ivy knows to consider her unborn child. And you?"

"Do you really want your children to see their father send their grandmother and uncle to prison?" Alya repeated the words that had just moved Ivy, continuing to speak them. If there was a hint of wavering, that was naturally the only route she could exploit. After all, the only person who could make Michael Gordon relent was that woman!

Alya knew everything there was to know about the incident involving Yuri Sanders. When he was preparing to lock up that little girl Bianca Aretha for a few years after her accident, it was Ivy who begged and pleaded, preaching the mercy of forgiving others, which earned Bianca her release. If Bianca, her own daughter, could be tolerated, Calvin Gordon was only her father-in-law, and one who had once sought her life at that.

In terms of emotional closeness, Skyler and Risa Scott were certainly less evil in Ivy’s heart than Yuri Sanders!

And that was why Alya dared to press on. However, she miscalculated: from the moment that man entered, her adversary had switched from Ivy Aretha to Michael Gordon. Ivy was no longer interested in getting involved, having intended to merely act as a messenger. Now that Michael was here, her role as the messenger had lost its purpose.

"While carrying my child, my wife grew more tolerant, whereas I remain as uncompromising as before. I certainly haven’t thought about it as much as she has!" Michael Gordon chuckled softly, playfully tousling Ivy Aretha’s neatly styled bridal hair, his eyes softening with tenderness. Yet when he turned back to address Alya with the second half of his statement, his expression abruptly changed, "Alya Larson, let me tell you, don’t use the scandal of your father’s adultery with Risa Scott to claim my brother. That’s your brother, not mine!"

Michael’s words pierced deep into Alya’s heart like a sharp sword. The pain was beyond simple aches—this was a heart-wrenching despair. The man’s outright, merciless words stripped her of all dignity in an instant!

In that moment, she lost even the right to plea. The cruelest thing in the world is not losing the man you love to a rival out of incompetency but never being given a chance to compete in the first place. The most devastating blows come not from rivals but from the men you are smitten with, even deeply in love with!

Alya thought there couldn’t possibly be any side character contending with the female lead over a man who was as miserable as she was. At least they go down fighting, with the chance to torment the so-called female lead, but her, from start to finish, she never even had a chance to enter the fray!

Her adversary was never really an adversary, but the man she couldn’t win over despite her best efforts!

"Michael Gordon, you have no right to say such things!"
