Chapter 773: Chapter 752: Love her? Buy her an island!

This was the happiest meal Calvin Gordon had had since he was born, not only because of Ivy Aretha’s unexpected magnanimity but also because of the infectious energy of the young people around him, reigniting his confidence in life.

The wedding took place on an island, which Michael Gordon had specifically bought for Ivy Aretha. It took less than an hour to get there by plane from Andras City.

The night before the wedding, they went to bed early to prepare for the big day. Calvin, still excited, spent the night with Bella Gordon reminisce about their childhoods. Ivy noticed his reluctance to return to the Gordon Mansion and invited him to stay. Without any hesitation or excuses, he agreed, saying it would be convenient to attend the wedding with them.

Ivy knew that Michael rarely stayed at the Gordon Mansion. It used to feel like a home with Risa Scott and Skyler Gordon there, but now with both of them in prison, it felt empty to live alone in such a luxurious villa.

That emptiness made the older man even lonelier.

Ivy could imagine it, from his lonely eyes she knew that he and Risa Scott had not been as loving as they appeared all these years. Deep down, he still longed for Michael’s mother, who had died years before. It was something she could sense intuitively without having to say anything.

Perhaps it was because she was about to become a bride or the fact that her child was almost due, but Ivy woke up early, at around five in the morning. She wanted to get up and prepare, but seeing that Michael was still sleeping soundly, she decided not to. For the past few days, he had been busy with both work and wedding preparations, as well as taking care of her pregnant self, so she knew he must be tired.

So Ivy didn’t get up; she stayed still and watched Michael’s sleeping face with her eyes wide open. It wasn’t yet fully light and the thick curtain covered the window, making the whole room pitch black. Under such lighting, she couldn’t see his facial features clearly, but his face was like an imprint in her mind.

It appeared in her eyes without needing any light.

They’d already gotten married and had a child, so things like kissing and intimacy had become redundant. As for their level of closeness, they didn’t seem like a couple who’d only known each other for a little over a year but rather like childhood sweethearts who’d grown up together over several decades.

They had gone through all the necessary steps, and today they were about to take the final one: she would become his beautiful bride!

Thinking of the beautiful bride, Ivy suddenly felt her heart pounding and her hand instinctively went to her raised belly. Bride?

The word seemed to grow larger in her mind, like it had exploded from a distant memory. Who had told her that she should become a beautiful bride?

In her mind, an unclear face that still hadn’t fully emerged from her restored memory enlarged, its innocent clean visage seemed to lean closer to her. The eyes were deep and affectionate, staring at her without moving, gently saying, "Girl, I’ll wait for you to grow up and become my bride!"

Who was it?

Who was talking to her, who wanted her to be their bride?

Or had she promised someone to be their bride when she was a child?

Who was that blurry figure?

Was it related to her biological mother?

"How come you’re so excited to marry me today that you woke up so early?"

A deep voice sounded, and Michael stretched his hand out, pulling her into his arms and burying his head in the crook of her neck. "Wife, you’re so excited. Your husband is very happy!"

"In your dreams!"

Ivy said absent-mindedly before asking, "Michael, do you think I might have had a childhood betrothal with some other boy, who said I’d be his bride when I grew up?"

Childhood betrothal? What kind of ghost thing is that?

With a click, the remote control next to the bed pressed on the thick electric curtain, which automatically opened. Michael’s exquisitely beautiful face appeared in front of Ivy’s eyes. "Wife, if you had a childhood betrothal, it would only be with me. You’re marrying me today, so don’t think about anyone else!"

If he had known about the idea of a childhood betrothal, he would’ve certainly made one with her when they first met. That way, he wouldn’t have needed an excuse to "win her over" seven years ago when he pretended to be drunk and drugged, and forced himself on her just to take her from another man’s arms.

If they’d had a childhood betrothal when they first met, there’d be no need for such a horrible trick seven years ago. The obligation of a childhood betrothal would be enough.

"Nonsense! A childhood betrothal with you?" Ivy gave the man with thick skin a blank look. "Did I even know you when I was a child? At most, our feelings for each other are just like those that develop from one-night stands in romance novels and idol dramas. We’re far from having a beautiful relationship like childhood sweethearts!"

Childhood sweethearts do have a very beautiful bond; the most beautiful bond in the world is when you’re already by my side before I even know what love is. Together, we experience our youthful innocence, our hearts start to beat as one, and then we love and cherish each other, from youth to old age.

"Far from that, huh? Hehehe!" Michael’s laughter was like a fox’s. "Is it really that far off? You’ll find out at tonight’s wedding!"

He might not have had a childhood betrothal with her, but they could still be considered childhood sweethearts. Oh, and on top of that, it was love at first sight!

Of course, such a big surprise had to be revealed at an important moment.

After sharing a simple breakfast with Ivy, Michael headed to the island where the wedding would take place. When they arrived, the team of makeup artists and stylists were already waiting. Because Ivy was pregnant, Michael didn’t want her to exert herself, so he made sure there were plenty of staff on hand to help with her makeup. There were at least twenty hairstylists, all working in a well-coordinated manner to save time.

With her pregnant belly, Ivy experienced the makeup process fit for royalty.

Considering Ivy’s condition, all the wedding processes were specially designed, and almost all the outdoor shots involved her being seated or carried, requiring minimal effort on her part.

"Wow, Michael, this island is so close to Andras City and so beautiful. How come I’ve never heard of it before? It doesn’t make sense," Madeline, a true rich young lady, couldn’t help but ask. She was well-traveled and knew every beautiful and interesting place in the world, let alone a luxury island close to Andras City.

That’s why Madeline felt it was strange.
