Chapter 771 - 750: To Accept or Not to Accept?

Chapter 771: Chapter 750: To Accept or Not to Accept?

To accept or not to accept?

Ivy Aretha was hesitant for a moment. But, it seemed that if she didn’t accept it, she wouldn’t be giving Michael Gordon any face. The situation had already reached this point, and it would be hard to justify not accepting it; it would be the same as not letting go of the issue and not forgiving him. It seemed like she should accept it!

Ivy subconsciously glanced towards Michael, only to find him also looking at her. His intentions were clear - he was waiting for her to accept the item!

"Fine, since Dad said so, I’ll accept it on behalf of Bianca!" Since it was meant to be passed on to a daughter, and Michael Gordon didn’t have any sisters, she, as the daughter-in-law, was considered his daughter. As such, the natural course of action was to pass it on to her actual daughter!

"Good, good, this is how it’s supposed to be. This is what Michael’s mother wanted too!"

Seeing Ivy accept the bracelet, Calvin Gordon excitedly said, "I’ve had this bracelet with me for decades, and I can finally give it away!"

Ever since Michael’s mother passed away, this bracelet had become the only item that could comfort him. He was reluctant to part with it, and until now, there hadn’t been a suitable person to give it to. Thankfully, today was finally the day it found a rightful recipient.

"I’m accepting this on behalf of Bianca. Thank you, Dad!"

Since she had accepted the item, it was only right to express her gratitude.

As Ivy kept mentioning that she accepted the bracelet on behalf of Bianca and even thanked her father on her behalf, the little girl couldn’t help but be curious. "Mommy, why do you need to thank him for me when I’m standing right here? Since Grandpa gave it to me, shouldn’t you just give it to me and let me thank him myself?"

Ivy Aretha: "..."

"Darling, in case the baby in your mommy’s tummy turns out to be a sister rather than a brother, then this bracelet has to be passed on to your sister, and it’ll have nothing to do with you. So, since it’s not officially yours yet, you don’t have to thank anyone. Your mommy will thank them on your behalf!"

Michael walked over to the sofa, hugged his precious daughter tightly, and kissed her cheek while jokingly saying, "So, kiddo, don’t go dreaming about your mom’s bracelet just yet!"

"Michael Gordon, shut up!" Ivy couldn’t help but lose her patience upon hearing his words. She momentarily forgot Calvin was there. "What sort of nonsense are you telling your child!"

Bianca had lived a tough life with Ivy until she was five years old. The saying goes "three years mark a lifetime", meaning that a person’s first three years of life have the greatest impact on their entire existence. Bianca’s early experiences had made her mature and sensitive at a young age - something even Michael’s persistent pampering over the past year hadn’t changed.

Thus, Ivy handled matters regarding her affection very carefully!

"Darling, this bracelet was left by your grandma to her daughter. Grandma didn’t have any daughters, so she treated me as one and passed it down to me. Later on, I’ll pass it on to my daughters as well. You’re my eldest daughter, so naturally, I’ll pass it on to you. However, you’re still a little too young to wear it. Don’t believe me? Let Mommy put it on for you."

She then took the jade bracelet and placed it on her daughter to try on. The little girl’s hands were so small that even two of them could fit inside, and the bracelet couldn’t stay on. "Now, do you understand? When your hands grow as big as Mommy’s, Mommy will give it to you. For now, Mommy will wear it because it needs to be passed on, not given directly. Passing it on conveys emotions, while giving it simply makes it a gift. Do you understand now, darling?"

"Mommy, I understand now. I shouldn’t have been hasty earlier. I’m sorry!"

With Ivy’s explanation, the little girl naturally understood.

"Good girl, there’s no need to apologize to Mommy. You didn’t do anything wrong!". Ivy was strict with her child: if she made a mistake, she must apologize. But if she did nothing wrong, even if she’s especially well-behaved, Ivy wouldn’t allow her to say sorry. "Also, Daddy was just teasing you earlier. You’re Mommy’s big girl, and Mommy loves you the most. No matter how many brothers or sisters Mommy gives you in the future, Mommy will always love you the most. You’ll be the big sister to your brothers and sisters. Big sisters are like mothers, so the family heirloom will be passed on to you. Thus, you must love your brothers and sisters even more than Daddy and Mommy!"

"Okay, I promise to love my little brothers and sisters, Mommy. Don’t worry, I won’t fight for your affection with them. You can have more kids without worrying about me being like those childish playmates who are scared of losing their parents’ love to their younger siblings!"

Ivy Aretha: "..."

Even using the term "childish"? Complaining about her peers at such a young age was not a good sign!

Michael Gordon: "..."

Their daughter was indeed a genius. She was only six years old but had already started to look down on her peers. When she grew up, ordinary people wouldn’t stand a chance in her presence!

Calvin stared at Ivy, who slowly put on the jade bracelet, and patiently explained the matter to his little granddaughter.

This was the first time he’d seen Ivy, who usually dealt him cutting remarks, handle a child so tenderly and lovingly. It was a far cry from her usual sharp-tongued demeanor, and she exhibited the image of a loving mother!

She was truly a woman of many faces!

No wonder Michael had always said that he would surely like her as his daughter-in-law. It was only because of her appearance that he hadn’t given himself the opportunity to discover her many wonderful qualities. Fortunately, it wasn’t too late!

That day, Calvin stayed at Michael’s villa for dinner!

It was his first time having dinner with a group of young people, and they were all in high spirits. As Ivy had been chatting with Calvin, Michael had offered to cook dinner. However, there were three men in the house, including their guest Jaysen Smith; if Michael cooked alone, it seemed a bit awkward. But this awkwardness was secondary!

The main concern was the fear that his image in the eyes of his friends might change from a brilliant CEO to a humble househusband. So, Mr. Gordon spent a long time thinking and came up with a great idea - he would involve all the men present in the cooking process!

Thus, Jaysen Smith and Oliver Thompson were dragged into the kitchen by the groom, Michael Gordon!

Jaysen was fine; he was an all-around guy, and being a genius naturally included having excellent cooking skills. However, Mr. Thompson was in trouble; despite being a soldier, he couldn’t do a thing in the kitchen, let alone put a bib on correctly.

Michael and Jaysen shared a laugh as they both ridiculed Oliver simultaneously, "Oliver Thompson, why don’t you try putting your trousers on backward too?"

"Ahem, a great man is meant to fight wars and care for his people. It is normal for me not to be good at such trivial things!" Oliver felt embarrassed, especially when Michael, his friend’s husband, is so capable. "A true man does not concern himself with minor details!"

"It’s just a soldier. Speaking as if you were the President of the country. Aren’t you ashamed?"

Mr. Gordon showed his contempt towards Oliver’s excuse!

It was like giving a political lecture to a military brother!

Jaysen calmly retorted, "If you can’t even sweep your own house, how can you think of sweeping the world? If you can’t even cook, how can you talk about making your woman lead a happy life?"

Oliver Thompson: "..."
