Chapter 723: Chapter 702: Who has arrived?
"Orchid Kingdom has been poor for so long, it’s time for me to turn things around!"
Ivy Aretha thought he was a madman: "You really believe you can find those treasures that only exist in TV series from me? Let me tell you, those who believe in gaining wealth without effort usually end up dead due to their ignorance!"
"Don’t worry about me right now, cousin. I’ll soon take you to see what your mother left behind!"
After finishing his words, Spencer Lowe turned to leave the room, and spoke to two servants inside, "Clean up here and add one more set of identical items. If the Princess wants to smash things, let her smash to her heart’s content!"
He looked at Ivy Aretha and added another sentence: "These are all your mother’s favorite styles. If you want to smash them, go ahead. They’re not limited editions anyway. I’ll just buy more after you smash them. After all, it’s the common people’s money of Orchid Kingdom, not Spencer Lowe’s!"
With that, Ivy Aretha’s anger subsided.
From ancient times, the common people have always suffered from palace intrigues, nothing has ever changed. Orchid Kingdom, being a small country, was no exception.
"Spencer, I don’t know anything about any treasure. I wasn’t even born in Orchid Kingdom. How would I know about your country’s treasure? I’m not a Princess and don’t want to be one, so why would you offend Michael Gordon for an irrelevant person like me?"
"You think I would take you from Michael Gordon without thorough investigation? Just behave yourself. Once I get rid of the trouble, I’ll take you to meet your grandfather, and he will tell you everything!"
Ivy Aretha wanted to say something, but before she could open her mouth, she was interrupted by a panicked voice.
"Something’s wrong, Spencer! Someone is attacking Orchid Palace... The old King wants you to go over right now!"
Attack?
As soon as these two words caught Ivy Aretha’s attention, a wave of excitement surged within her. Without a doubt, it must have been Michael Gordon’s doing. The kind of thing that involved bombing another country was something Mr. Gordon would do.
"Alright, I’ll be there right away!"
Spencer Lowe furrowed his eyebrows and then peeled Ivy Aretha’s hand away from his, "Watch her. I’ll be back later!"
For the moment, Ivy didn’t say anything. Instead, she silently watched the cold and indifferent figure disappear at the door. Her slender fingers gently touched her protruding belly, a warm smile filling her eyes: "My babies, be good. Your daddy is coming to take us home. You must be strong and wait until Daddy takes us home before coming out!"
It was as if the two little ones inside her belly could hear her words and gave her two strong kicks, showing their vitality.
At eight months pregnant, Ivy’s biggest worry was premature birth, especially under the present circumstances. If she could help it, she didn’t want Michael Gordon to become enemies with Orchid Kingdom. From what Spencer said, it seemed that her mother was Princess Ruby Ross of Orchid Kingdom.
If that was true, Orchid Kingdom was the home of her grandparents, Michael Gordon was her beloved one, and the last thing she wanted was for them to become enemies.
However, under the current circumstances, it was unlikely that the situation could be resolved without resorting to arms.
It just depended on the extent of the conflict.
Spencer said he would be back later, but by the next day, there was still no sign of him. Ivy grew more anxious by the minute but had no way of doing anything. If she weren’t pregnant, she could make a fuss based on her temper.
But now, with the added weight on her body, she didn’t dare risk it.
It wasn’t until the evening of the third day that Ivy’s appetite improved slightly. She had a little something to eat and went to bed. Just as she drifted off to sleep, she heard soft footsteps moving around the room. In her light sleep, Ivy’s nerves were instantly on edge, and she held her breath.
Listening to the footsteps, it was a young man with strong and robust steps.
There was no doubt that it could only be Spencer Lowe. This was his territory, and he was currently campaigning with Sammy Lowe for the presidency in three days. Now Spencer’s sphere of influence had greatly surpassed Sammy’s, thanks to the rumored fortune she held.
So, the only person who could be in this room was him, either Spencer or Spencer again. But why didn’t he turn on the light this time?
Usually, one to show off his aura, when did he start to skulk around?
If it weren’t for the fact that Ivy was his cousin and pregnant, she would probably be even more frightened, suspecting that he had ulterior motives for her!
As soon as she heard the sound, Ivy pretended not to hear it and quietly crawled out of the bed. She didn’t turn on the light, but hid in the wardrobe beside the bed by the moonlight. When she closed the wardrobe door, she left a little gap for breathing.
She wanted to see what this man was up to, sneaking into her room without turning on the light!
Did he truly think she could unlock the rumored treasure? Or was he just a pervert who liked to secretly harass pregnant women?
Indeed, Ivy hid in the wardrobe and grabbed an iron hanger from it. If the timing was right, she would hit him over the head and knock him unconscious. After all, she had managed to knock Michael Gordon’s memory loose with a bottle of red wine, so she had some skill.
She thought that perhaps with some luck, the large iron hanger could even break his skull, right? With that in mind, she grabbed two more hangers from the wardrobe and stacked them together. The three large iron hangers for hanging coats felt heavy. They should be able to knock someone out if aimed at the back of their head, right?
As Ivy mulled this over in her mind, she heard the door creak open from the outside. The two maids who had been guarding the door didn’t make any noise. It didn’t take much to realize it was Spencer Lowe.
If it had been someone else, wouldn’t the two maids have made some noise by now?
Thinking this, Ivy clenched the hangers in her hand tighter, with cold sweat flowing down her hand. Perhaps due to the narrow space in the wardrobe and her pregnancy, her breathing became more and more rapid. As a result, the gap in the wardrobe opened up slightly further.
The curtains on the window had been closed when she got out of bed. The room was pitch black without the light on. She hid in the wardrobe, making sure he couldn’t see her.
Ivy’s ears perked up, and she entered full combat mode. Her eyes stared intently at the dark figure. The shadowy man tiptoed into the room from the bedroom door, then slowly approached her bedside. She saw his hand reach out and pull open the bed curtain, even if she couldn’t make out his features within the darkness.
