Chapter 677: Chapter 656: Is This Being Overwhelmed by Unexpected Favor?

Lucas knew all too well who he was and who the man in front of him was!

There was no fairness between the two of them; how could they compete? The young master of the Smith family had it all: good looks, charm, and eloquence. And with Jaysen’s looks, there was no doubt that he could easily woo women.

And what about him?

Cold, indifferent, unromantic, and lacking in sweet talk. What a contrast to someone like Jaysen who seemed to have everything!

But despite this, he was still unwilling to give up, not for any other reason but because she was the only one who managed to unshackle the shadows surrounding him and enter his heart.

Jaysen: "..."

So direct, huh?

"Whether you give me a chance or not, it’s up to how hard I’m willing to try!" Jaysen, having never lost or dealt with setbacks, would not let a few words from a cold-faced doctor discourage him. While speaking, he also threw a glance at Alette, "Right, Alette?"

Alette jerked a bit, about to shake her head when Lucas grabbed her face and dragged her out of the room.

Everyone in the room looked at each other, completely dumbfounded. They were originally intending to have a lively bridal chamber celebration, but instead, the best man and bridesmaid had left together. However, this was quite normal, as the probability of bridesmaids and groomsmen ending up together was quite high in such events.

It was within expectation, after all.

Jaysen had just declared fair competition moments before Madeline was taken away. Unable to save face, he didn’t even think twice before rushing after them.

But before he made it out of the room, he was stopped by Oliver Thompson: "The doctor and nurse pairing is the best match of the year, you don’t need to join in the fun. What if you accidentally walk in on them getting it on? It wouldn’t be good to have a sty at such a young age!"

Doctors and nurses, their relationships could be even more open than the average person. With how Lucas usually treated women as patients and not as romantic interests, it was really...

"Who says I’m young? I’ve grown up and can marry now!" Jaysen would never admit to being a youngster, especially now that he had been eyeing women too.

"Alright, alright, enough with the bridal chamber games! Everyone get out and let the bride and groom enter their chamber and have a child soon!" Julia was growing impatient at all the nonsense happening late at night. Seeing her sister yawn multiple times, she decided to send everyone away, "Let the groom and bride have their child quickly!"

Madeline: "..."

Was her elder sister announcing to the world that they must consummate their marriage tonight?

She was so tired today, she just wanted to fall asleep. Getting married really was more exhausting than she could imagine and definitely not for the faint of heart.

Everyone enjoyed the fun but quickly left when the topic shifted to having a child. Thankfully, there were still bridesmaids and groomsmen to tease, so they turned their attention to those who remained.

The room soon quieted down, leaving only Jaysen and Madeline.

Finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, Madeline deeply inhaled and collapsed onto the bed, not wanting to move a muscle: "I’m so tired, it’s as if all my bones are falling apart!"

Jaysen turned his head to gaze deeply and silently at the woman in the fiery red dress, motionless. Time seemed to come to a standstill now that she was finally his bride!

"Jaysen..."

Madeline was about to say she was hungry when she noticed the man staring at her so passionately. With such a focused and delicate gaze, it was as if he could see right into her soul. Without his glasses, and wearing a traditional outfit, Jaysen looked mesmerizing.

Because Madeline complained, Jaysen did not wear his glasses but switched to contact lenses instead.

She had mentioned it casually, but he still followed her words.

"Jaysen, why are your eyes so red?"

His gaze was so focused that the redness at the bottom of his eyes was especially prominent. Madeline noticed it almost instantly, "Is it an allergic reaction to your contact lenses?"

Mentioned by herself, Madeline jumped from the large wedding bed, startled. He hadn’t paid it any mind when she mentioned he looked better without glasses than with multiple times before but decided to listen to her at the very last moment on this day.

Now, his eyes were tinged with red. This shade of red, completely different from the lustful yellow men often displayed, was something she could discern. She might not be as clever as Ivy, but she wasn’t stupid either, especially when it came to the man she loved!

"Oh, a little bit!"

After she mentioned it, Jaysen finally realized the discomfort in his eyes. Then, patting her face playfully, he laughed, "I didn’t expect you to notice. Looks like my wife loves me more than I thought."

"Quit the sweet talk!"

Hearing him say that, Madeline’s heart skipped a beat. The exhaustion from before vanished as she quickly got up from the bed. "Stay still and don’t move, I’ll get some water and help you remove your contact lenses!"

As she got up, she muttered, "Why didn’t you say something if your contacts were causing an allergic reaction? Trying to show off and be all handsome!"

Jaysen: "..."

Did he need to act handsome?

Jaysen was very dissatisfied with the accusation; he was already very handsome, alright?

Although he didn’t have the same level of self-love as Michael, constantly flaunting his attractiveness, he still had a basic sense of confidence.

However, even with his discontent, hearing those words from Madeline still made his heart flutter with sweetness. Jaysen laid on the wedding bed with his hands under his head, watching the fiery red figure of their woman move in and out of the bathroom. He only spoke up to call him after she’d brought his glasses and eye medicine to him.

"Wife, if you suddenly start treating me this well, I won’t know what to do!"

As Jaysen let her remove his contact lenses carefully, apply anti-allergic eye drops, and feel the warmth that spread through him, it seemed like the phrase ’helping each other through thick and thin’ truly applied.

"Is this all it takes to make you feel spoiled?"

As Madeline slowly finished applying the eye drops and tidied up the used contact lenses, she asked, "Can’t you have higher expectations for me to treat you even better in the future?"

Back then, it was always him taking care of her. Now, it was time for her to give something in return!
