Chapter 656: Chapter 635: The Missing Man in Life
The news that Alya Larson and Risa Scott were mother and daughter was a bombshell for Michael Gordon!
His father, Calvin Gordon, obviously didn’t know about this, otherwise he wouldn’t have tried to push Alya on him after hearing Risa’s words, trying to make her his fiancée!
He had always known that this woman entered the Gordon family with ill intentions, but he only suspected that the issue laid with his younger brother. He never thought that she would have another child outside, a daughter who was not much younger than herself.
Having a child is normal, but secretly hiding one and trying to force her on him is far from normal!
"Does my father know about this?"
"He doesn’t know, as far as I’m aware!"
Oliver Thompson spoke truthfully, "I discovered it unintentionally. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been so shifty in suspecting a blood relationship between these two. Alya has been close to Sammy Lowe recently. Perhaps you pushed her to the corner, so she started to involve people from the Orchid Kingdom. Keep an eye on the situation at home. Your old man’s health hasn’t been good, after all, he’s your father!"
Michael’s relationship with Calvin Gordon wasn’t very close. Due to the fact that Michael’s mother died not long after marrying Risa Scott, Michael did blame his father for being cold-hearted, although he never voiced it out loud.
Those who grew up with him knew this.
"I understand!"
He was a father too now, and had come to terms with many things. He blamed his father, true, but that didn’t mean he didn’t care about him. That was also the reason why he was hesitant to take decisive actions regarding Ivy. If not for his father, Michael, who usually didn’t hesitate, wouldn’t have adopted such a soft approach, but would have acted decisively a long time ago.
"Michael, let’s visit Gordon Mansion in a few days!"
Now that she was heavily pregnant, Calvin Gordon likely wouldn’t give them a hard time. Seeing Michael caught in the middle was exhausting even for her.
"Alright!"
Michael understood Ivy’s thoughts. But, it was also time to have a proper discussion with his father. Ivy and Luna Cooper weren’t related by blood, but Ivy suffered for it nonetheless. An apology was due and he made sure to get one for her - it was the least she deserved. "We will go home this weekend and discuss the wedding details with my father. Jaysen managed to go ahead with his wedding, we can’t put this off any longer!"
Thinking about attending the wedding with a woman who is pregnant with three children, Michael felt somewhat terrible.
"There’s no rush to plan the wedding. I need to give birth, observe the confinement period and then get back in shape. Half a year won’t be enough. After all, we’re already legally married, there’s no rush to go through the motions!"
While she also dreamed of walking down the aisle in a wedding dress to marry the man she loved, she stood by her words. Michael had previously set a wedding date, but she used her pregnancy as an excuse to cancel the plans.
"By the way, Michael, Oliver, did you just say Alya’s boyfriend is from the Orchid Kingdom, and he’s a prince?"
Even though the two men were focusing on the major points, Ivy managed to read between the lines. If that was the case, the situation could potentially get more complicated.
"Boyfriend? You’re saying that Sammy Lowe is Alya Larson’s boyfriend?" Michael’s face turned frosty at the sound of it. "How did you come to know about it?"
In his memory, he had dealt with that woman so that she would not get the chance to meet Ivy.
"We bumped into them on our way back from the temple last time. Cathy and Madeline were there too. The couple showed off their affection right in front of us, even going to the temple together!"
Ivy recalled the woman’s smug face that day. It was ingrained in her mind. "It was the time when you went abroad and something happened to Oliver."
"Don’t worry about it. She won’t get a chance to stand in front of you anymore."
Thinking back, Michael felt quite relieved. The fact that Alya and Sammy Lowe had exposed themselves in front of Ivy, especially in his absence, troubled him. He was holding Ivy’s hand tightly as if he was afraid of losing her any moment.
He was well aware of the current situation in the Orchid Kingdom!
The brothers were both searching for Ivy - but were using different approaches.
Ivy wanted to ask something else, but the wedding was about to start.
Under the stark night sky decorated with countless stars, the fireworks ignited and flowers filled the hall as they cascaded from the ceiling, creating a dreamlike spectacle.
"Madeline’s princess wedding. Jaysen finally made it happen for her!"
From a young age, Madeline had always dreamt of a fairy-tale wedding. Now, she had everything: her dream scenery, her prince charming, a white horse, and the wedding of her dreams!
"My dear, I will also make your dream of a queen’s wedding happen."
Michael lowered his head and kissed Ivy’s forehead. His soft and gentle actions were not only promises, they were also a vow.
"Hmm!"
When Caleb Harrison placed Madeline’s hand in Jaysen’s, Ivy broke into tears.
"Jaysen, this daughter I raised for so many years without being able to give her the care she needed... I am entrusting her to you now. In the first half of her life, I couldn’t be the father I wanted to be. In the second half, I hope you could be the husband she needs, and fill in the gaps I left."
This successful businessman, known for his coldness and ruthlessness, finally broke into tears when his long-raised daughter got married.
"Madeline is worthy of your love. I am entrusting her to you."
Under the brilliant lights, Jaysen, dressed in white, bowed to Caleb and took Madeline’s hand with a choked voice. "Dad, thank you... Thank you for raising Madeline and entrusting her to me. You won’t regret giving your daughter to me. I will cherish her, love her and take care of her!"
The applause was deafening. A woman’s best happiness in life comes from two men; in the first half of her life, her father, and in the second half, her husband. At this moment, Madeline’s life was finally complete.
But what about her?
As Ivy joined in with the applause, hot tears rolled down her cheeks. Looking back on her life, it seemed that all her luck started when she met Michael Gordon. Seven years ago, they met, and she had Bianca. Seven years later, they met again, and she found love and a family.
If they had a wedding, the father’s position would be empty. Her life didn’t need to be passed from one man’s hand to another’s.
Madeline had a father, how fortunate she was!
She was truly happy for her. Maybe she was crying tears of joy. The tears fell like broken strands of beads, ceaseless. It was only today she realized how important a father was!
Unfortunately, she was an orphan!
"Ivy..."
Michael gently kissed away Ivy’s tears. What else could she be thinking about, if not this?
