Chapter 597: Chapter 576: The Committed Young Master Lu
"Aren’t you afraid that the mistress of the Smith family you married is a fake?"
Amanda Foster blurted out almost without thinking, she just did not believe it, how could Jaysen Smith be so calm, honestly not caring, that the woman he married was a fake?
If he truly didn’t mind, what was the previous silence all about?
"A fake? I don’t appreciate your insinuation, Miss Foster. Who Madeline’s parents are, indeed, is very significant to her. After all, every person hopes to live a clear and transparent life, not one shrouded in confusion!"
Jaysen Smith spoke leisurely, taking a step forward and drawing the woman into his arms before continuing, "But this doesn’t matter much to me, even less to the Smith family. The woman I secretly loved for over a decade, has finally become mine after many years of longing. It’s a great blessing. Not every secret admirer has such a happy outcome. I am already fortunate. Why should I fret over something trivial?"
The more he spoke, the colder his gaze turned, making Amanda Foster feel a bone-chilling fright. This man, who seemed to be the most gentle, appeared to be the most terrifying!
"Besides, Miss Foster, don’t forget, you brought this on yourself. You harmed countless people, what goes around, comes around. Dragging others into the water does not benefit you. Today, I am speaking in the presence of my two brothers. No matter who the parents of Sienna Harrison are, whether they’re mortals or demons, she is the woman I have cherished, the wife I’ve yearned for. I have loved her for ten years without gaining her affections, and yet I never lost hope. Do you think your breaking words will cause any change?"
"Furthermore, since I’ve said so much, it also implies the views of the entire Smith family. Jaysen Smith has said all he needed to, anything more you want to say or do, you better consider carefully!"
Having finished, he held the woman in his arms and headed straight for the door, leaving Michael Gordon and Oliver Thompson looking at each other in stupefaction, with their subordinates standing by. This was probably the longest and most poisonous speech they’d ever heard from Jaysen till date!
After gazing at each other in silence for a moment, Michael Gordon met eyes with Oliver Thompson and said: "Alright, I’d had my share of fun. Over to you now!"
With that, he stepped back happily.
Oliver Thompson frowned, strolled over to Amanda, extended his hand and demanded: "Give me the video!"
His words, sharp and decisive, laid bare his ruthlessness.
"Oliver Thompson, you really have eyes only for Julie Harrison!"
Even as she finished, Amanda Foster started laughing wildly. There was an added touch of desolation to this wild laugh compared to her earlier ones, "Now that you’ve heard what I have to say, aren’t you filled with regret? Regret for having treated her with such cold indifference? Regret for passing up so many opportunities to be in love, to torment a woman who loved you just as much?"
"You better hand over the video to me!"
Oliver Thompson’s words had become frigid, a faint hint of murderous intent flashed unnaturally in his eyes: "You better pray that I have no regrets for letting you off the hook so easily. Being a woman, you can stoop low but you cannot stoop too low!"
Low? Too low?
Julie Harrison couldn’t believe that these words had come out of Oliver Thompson’s mouth. The man she once loved sincerely, was he really calling her low?
"Oliver Thompson, you think of my feelings for you as being low? Do you even have a heart?"
"Feelings? Any attempts to interfere in someone else’s marriage is morally wrong. That’s not love, that’s the behavior of a mistress. Any immoral actions are low. I’ve warned you countless times, but you’ve adamantly refused to listen. I’ve already given you so many chances, and now you dare to harm Julie Harrison, let alone a man? Do you think I will spare you?"
While speaking, Oliver Thompson’s hand had already tightened around the woman’s jaw, his heavy movement causing teardrops to spill from her eyes one by one.
"Give me the video, and I’ll give you a chance to choose. Otherwise, you won’t even have that opportunity!"
"A chance to choose?"
Amanda Foster laughed heartily: "You think I want a chance to choose? What I want is a chance to go to hell with you! Now that I’m in your hands, I never intended to leave here alive. But I can’t let the two of you live well either, can I?"
"I’ll tell you the truth. Ever since you let Michael Gordon drug me and Harvey Dunn, forcing us to do those things, I never thought of making it easy for you, let alone negotiating terms with you. There’s no way I’m handing over everything I have to you, including the so-called video. I only wanted to die with you, but you were smarter than I thought, and didn’t kill yourself. Instead, you let Michael Gordon’s men catch me first and so, I couldn’t carry out many things I had planned."
"But it doesn’t matter. At least, you wouldn’t be able to do what you planned either!"
Having finished, Amanda Foster started laughing out loud. Each laugh colder than the last, until tears streamed down her face: "Oliver Thompson, I’ve loved you for nearly twenty years, exhausted almost all of my youth, I fought long and hard against Julie Harrison, and the one who lost in the end is not her, but you. Do you know how much I hate you? I’m so good, beautiful, and capable, and love you so much, why don’t you like me? Why? Why do you love the daughter of your enemy? Julia Harrison, what’s so good about her? Is she really worth your disdain for my sincerest feelings for you, and even give up your deep-seated hatred for her, not even avenging the death of your father?"
"Nalan Harrison is a scoundrel, a waste of life. His daughter can’t be much better, yet why do you like her so much? Still like her enough to forget oneself!"
Amanda Foster, as if gone mad, roared at Oliver Thompson louder and louder, each shout reaching into one’s heart, causing the old warehouse to begin trembling.
However, Oliver Thompson just squinted his eyes, peering quietly at the ranting woman before him, calm, as if the target of her insanity wasn’t him.
"Want to know why I’d rather love the daughter of an enemy than you?"
A faint smile appeared on Oliver Thompson’s lips, the curvature of his smile ever colder, even carrying a trace of mockery: "The most pathetic thing isn’t that a person can’t get the love of the one they like, but that they don’t even realize why they can’t obtain the love of the person they like. Amanda Foster, you are truly pathetic. You did so many unethical things, and yet you still self-righteously believe that you’re correct and nervelessly question others!"
