Chapter 583: Chapter 562: Are You Not Asleep?
"I’m sorry!"
Although it was only an apology, tears fell one by one unintentionally. Seeing her own tears on the man’s calm face, Julie Harrison realized how much she had lost her composure. Afraid of waking him up, she quickly took out a tissue from the bedside table, wanting to wipe away the tears in the corner of his eyes. But before she could even move, her hand was gently held by the man.
Michael’s eyes were still closed, showing no intention of opening them. As he held Julie’s wrist, she saw the subtle smile on his lips. It was ethereal, yet real.
"Oliver?"
Julie stared at his slightly moving eyes, realizing that he wasn’t asleep, "You didn’t fall asleep?"
As she finished speaking, Julie felt a tug on her wrist and lost her balance, falling directly into his embrace. Frightened, she screamed, "Your injury... "
Thankfully, when her head landed on his chest, it was not on his injured side, and she sighed in relief.
She intended to scold him for his recklessness but stopped when she saw the complicated look in his now-open eyes. They stared at each other in silence for a moment before Julie looked into his eyes and said seriously, "I’m sorry, it’s my fault that you were hurt!"
She knew that he couldn’t be unbothered by the video. Pretending not to care in front of her was already taking her dignity into account. She understood his mood!
If he wasn’t feeling heartbroken, why would he get so angry earlier, and then go to sleep without a word, even locking the door? He had grievances he couldn’t express in front of her, and she understood!
"What did you do to me?"
Michael lowered his head, caressing her head gently with his large hand. He looked deeply into her eyes and asked, "Julie, who’s really harmed between you and me? Don’t we both know the truth?"
If it weren’t for his feud with Harvey Dunn, why would he not let a woman go?
If she wasn’t married to Oliver Thompson, why would Harvey Dunn humiliate her like this? Harvey did so to humiliate Oliver and prove that he was incapable of protecting his own wife.
His woman was just a victim!
"Oliver, it’s my fault. I’m so useless and stupid. I knew that when Amanda Foster came to find me, it couldn’t be for anything good, but I still naively followed her. If I hadn’t believed her and followed her, I wouldn’t have ended up in their hands, and the two kids wouldn’t have been caught in this as well, and you wouldn’t have been humiliated!"
Julie finally said what she had been suppressing in her heart for so long. From the moment Amanda revealed herself, she started to hate her own stupidity. She walked right into the trap, and when she later found out her own fate was in their hands, she was prepared to... die.
Yet, she never expected the two kids to barge in, so she couldn’t be selfish. Dying seemed easy, but what about the two kids?
So, she’d rather suffer herself than let the two children be harmed!
Until, in the end, she compromised!
She couldn’t accept what had happened, let alone Oliver Thompson, right?
Thinking back, Julie started shivering in fear. That familiar dread resurfaced due to the memories she had in her mind.
"Julie, it’s not me who’s humiliated, it’s you. It’s my fault. I didn’t foresee that woman would have the guts to come to Andras City, let alone go to Michael Gordon’s house to find you!"
Andras City was Michael Gordon’s territory, and he never thought that a woman who was already desperate would choose to come to Michael Gordon’s territory to die instead of taking the easy way out. This miscalculation almost cost his own woman’s life.
If it weren’t for Roy Thompson’s cleverness, for following them quietly and calling them to book a location, the consequences would’ve been unimaginable!
Even thinking about it now was frightening, and Oliver Thompson’s grip on Julie’s hand tightened, "I’m sorry, I’m the one who let you be humiliated. I promise I’ll help you get revenge!"
"No, Oliver, I don’t want you to take revenge. I just want you to be okay." Hearing the word "revenge," Julie instinctively covered his mouth, preventing him from continuing, "As long as you’re safe, nothing else matters. Let them spread that video. Oliver, dignity isn’t that important. If anything, I just won’t go out anymore!"
She already knew that if Harvey Dunn had the whole video recorded, he was preparing a backup plan. It was her fault that she forgot to remind Michael Gordon to retrieve the video when she left.
All that was happening now was just as she expected - the woman was threatening her man. If she only demanded something else, that would be fine, but what she feared was the demand for his life!
The situation had escalated to this point, and the possibility was too high!
"Julie, this isn’t about dignity, it’s about respect. Since they dared to treat you like this, they must be ready for my revenge!"
He had just watched the video multiple times, crying every time he watched. No wonder when he saw her earlier, her face was pale and she had vomited so much blood. But not just that, that damn man even wanted to touch her chest? Was her chest something that vile man could touch casually?
Even Oliver himself wouldn’t touch her so casually without her consent!
Thinking back to that scene, Oliver Thompson felt an urge to kill. Talking about it now made his heart feel like it was being cut open.
"Oliver, you..." Julie finally realized that something was wrong with him. This dark expression implied that he had seen the whole video earlier. Suddenly, Julie remembered that she rushed to the living room from the kitchen to grab the phone when she heard Oliver shouting at Michael Gordon.
So...
She had already watched the whole video!
It was her slow reaction!
