Chapter 571: Chapter 550: Actually, Don’t I Still Have Charm?
"Fine, Oliver, your wound isn’t an ordinary one. It’s not that I don’t want to help change your dressing, but I don’t know how and I’m afraid I’ll hurt you if I try!"
This wound had been so severe, and the surgery had been so troublesome that even Lucas, the nurse, didn’t feel confident about doing it himself, let alone her simply helping out.
"Then stay with me tonight, sleep beside me!"
Oliver immediately asked for this without any hesitation. It was rare for a woman to talk to him kindly, so he thought it was the best opportunity to ask for something.
Julie was speechless, even in his current state!
"I’ll sleep with Roy tonight. You should focus on healing!"
He was already in such a state, yet still thinking about holding a woman. If he couldn’t control himself, it would genuinely be life-threatening. Hearing this, the man’s face darkened again, before explaining, "I don’t want you to die in my arms!"
Oliver: "..."
Was he such a beast in his woman’s eyes?
"My love, I only want to sleep on the same bed with you, nothing more!"
It had been so long since they had peacefully shared a bed, which left him feeling restless, as if she would never return to his side. "Or are you saying that you actually want to make love to me? Is it because I’m still charming, Rosella?"
"Cough cough..."
Julia hadn’t expected the man to pull such a move, which made her too ashamed to even look at him. "First, change your dressing, then we’ll talk!"
Without thinking, Oliver refused her request: "No, you have to agree first before I change my dressing or I’ll have no bargaining chip against you, and I’ll suffer another sleepless night!"
Julie: "..."
So, was there no need for a pretense when threatening someone?
Just going straight for it?
"My lady, you should agree with your husband first!"
Before Julie could even think of responding to his words, Lucas’s pleading voice was heard. "Considering your husband’s physical condition, rolling in bed is out of the question, let alone having the strength to climb on top of you. So, my lady, there’s no need to worry!"
Oliver: "..."
What the hell, was he really seen as such a feeble man?
Tonight, he must prove his strength, otherwise, his woman might genuinely despise him.
"Alright, go ahead and change his dressing. I’ll accept his request!"
Ultimately, Julie made a compromise on this matter. After all, who could resist feeling sorry for the man?
As she watched Lucas change the dressing, she couldn’t deny being frightened when she saw the wound. It was right over his heart, directly in the center without any deviation. The blurry red flesh and the small hole made her skin crawl.
Julie was so scared that her whole body stiffened, barely managing to cover her mouth with both hands, holding back her scream. She had seen wounds on Oliver before, but never when they were still fresh.
She hadn’t been there when he’d been hurt!
Over the years they had been together, the man had been cruel to her, but she seemed to have never witnessed any horrifying scenes like this, such as being kidnapped, or shooting someone!
It was only during the short year and a few months away from him that she had experienced so much!
Now that she thought about it, this seemingly indifferent man really did love her!
This time, it was Amanda Foster that she had to thank for helping her see through the man’s thoughts!
Having seen enough, Julie could no longer bear to watch, so she went to the kitchen, having told the staff to make soup immediately after her return. She had to make sure his body was well-nourished, otherwise, it would indeed go to waste!
When she came out, Lucas had already changed Oliver’s dressing and headed back to the hospital!
"Why doesn’t Lucas just stay at home? Why does he have to run away to the hospital?"
As Julie brought the nutritious soup to the living room, she casually asked the question while looking at Oliver on the sofa. "Does he have a crush on that nurse from Michael Gordon’s hospital? What was her name again...?"
"Alette Larson!"
Oliver leaned lazily on the sofa, with a rare smile on his lips, his eyes fixated on the woman cautiously carrying the bowl of soup towards him. "Careful!"
Who said that wounded men can’t be charming?!
At heart, every woman was soft. Even someone like Ivy Aretha, who had a heart of stone, would fall for this act, let alone his woman, who was deeply in love with him!
"Oh!"
Julie didn’t take his reminder too seriously and simply responded before asking once more, "So, is he interested in Alette? Otherwise, why would he go to the hospital for no reason? I remember he hates staying in hospitals the most!"
As she spoke, the soup was presented right before him.
"Isn’t it obvious?"
Oliver raised his eyebrows and glanced at her without intending to take the soup from her hands. "When have you ever seen him care about someone unrelated to him?"
Lucas had always been cold and indifferent, caring only about his scalpels and hospital work. His childhood experiences had left him fairly solitary, and he rarely listened to anyone but Oliver. He would never pay any interest to unrelated people.
"Oh!"
Julie responded again and noticed that Oliver eyed the soup she offered him with interest, but he still didn’t reach out to take it. She quickly asked, "Will it hurt your wound if you move?"
Oliver had been posing, trying to come up with an excuse for her to feed him when she unexpectedly found the excuse for him. And so, he casually obliged.
Since he had already played the wounded man, he might as well go all the way!
"Yeah, if I move my hand, the wound hurts. Sometimes I can barely breathe!"
As he spoke, Oliver pretended to lust after the soup in Julia’s hands, as if he hadn’t had enough dinner. "It looks delicious!"
In fact, when Mr. Thompson threw away his guard, he was on par with Mr. Gordon.
"Then have some!"
As she spoke, Julia instinctively moved closer, scooped up some soup, and carefully blew on it before tasting it to make sure the temperature was right. Only then did she offer the spoonful of soup to his lips. "I specially used medicinal ingredients for this bone soup, which is good for your wound!"
"Did you go out today just to buy ingredients and make soup for me?"
As Oliver moved his mouth to sip the soup, he raised his eyebrow and looked at her with a hint of joy and astonishment in his deep eyes.
