Chapter 520: Chapter 499: What does it mean to say who goes first?

Listening to the two of them as they exchanged questions and answers, the conversation piqued their curiosity. From the voices and tone, Roy could tell that these two were lackeys. But still, gaining even a little knowledge was worthwhile.

"Do you think this woman Miss Foster brought over might have some kind of background?"

When one of them asked this question, it was obvious he was feeling uneasy, "If she has a background, maybe we’d better keep our distance later!"

These two seemed like the type to fear everything.

Roy and Bianca, hidden in the bushes, exchanged a glance and buried their heads deeper, hiding as they listened more carefully.

"Miss Foster personally brought that woman to our door. Could she not have a background? Though our Boss has guts, last time when he kidnapped Mrs. Gordon, it was somewhat understandable. After all, Chairman Gordon himself announced that he didn’t recognize her, and he passively agreed to the kidnapping. But even so, Mr. Gordon cleaned us up so well that we ended up hiding in these mountains, right?"

Chairman Gordon?

Upon hearing this title, Bianca’s eyes widened in horror. In Andras City, there was only one person who could be called that—her grandpa, the one who didn’t recognize her as a member of the Gordon family!

But the trend it seemed...

Was her mom’s kidnapping last time really approved by Grandpa?

How was that possible?

The conversation continued, and since they had their faces buried in the bushes, they couldn’t see the speakers’ faces, so they had to keep listening carefully.

"Well, we’re just trying to make a living, and being able to hide here even one more day is better than being caught and spending the rest of our lives in prison!"

After a sigh, one of them seemed to think again, "But the woman Miss Foster brought today did seem to have something special about her. I wonder if she was sent to entertain the Boss. After all, Miss Foster has something to ask our Boss, so sending a woman to him wouldn’t be a big deal!"

"It would be great if she was for the Boss’s enjoyment—after his turn, it would be ours. We’ve been hiding in these mountains for so long without even a taste of a woman; it’s really like living a miserable life!"

"Right? As strong, living men, we’re turning into eunuchs without even touching a woman’s hair, let alone a beautiful woman! Even if it was just Sister Ford, one would be enough for us!"

"Well, we can only hope that Miss Foster brought her for the Boss’s enjoyment. That way, we’ll have a chance with her. At least the Boss is generous—after he’s had his fill, he shares with us!"

That was the main reason these followers were so loyal even despite all the risks.

"Let’s agree on this beforehand—last time the Boss sent a woman to us, you went first. So, to be fair, this time it is my turn!"

"No way, how could that be considered fair?"

"Then, what would be considered fair?"

"Of course, it’s whoever gets ’hard’ first!" one man said as if it was obvious, "This way, we won’t waste time!"

"Damn, what if I don’t get ’hard’ until the other person is halfway through?"

"Then, we go together!"

"..."

As they continued discussing who would have their turn first, Roy clenched both of his fists tightly in anger. It was only his sense of reason reminding him that they had to keep hidden and let his father locate them while also protecting Bianca. Otherwise, he would have rushed out and killed these two men.

Still young, Roy had already grasped some of his inherited fighting spirit from the half-year spent at his father’s military camp. Normally, one wouldn’t sense a person’s true nature, but the boy could hardly control himself after hearing the men talk about raping his mother.

His face turned dark and gloomy, peering at these men through the bushes with eyes that grew colder by the second. The sudden icy look unnerved Bianca, who couldn’t help but shudder. Her curious gaze fell on Roy.

From what the two men said, it seemed they planned to do something to Aunt Cathy, but as a little girl, Bianca couldn’t quite understand what they meant. She only noticed that Roy’s eyes were terrifying, and that made her feel scared too.

"Clang!"

A crisp sound pierced through their eardrums, as the lock attaching the ropeway car to the wire was snapped off. The car, with people inside, was immediately sent crashing down the cliff, and the voices of the two men who were chatting just a moment ago gradually faded away.

Apparently, they had completed their task and left!

As the sound of footsteps grew distant, Roy’s dark face paled. He felt both relief and lingering fear—had they been a little slower, they would have been on the ropeway when the car was cut off and crashed down the cliff with it.

Upon further thought, Roy broke out in a cold sweat. He wouldn’t mind sacrificing his life for his mother, but if Bianca were to suffer alongside him, how could he face Uncle Gordon and Aunt Aretha?

With this thought, Roy shuddered, looking at Bianca’s innocent and clueless face, feeling overwhelmed with guilt.

"Bianca, I’m sorry!"

"Why are you apologizing?"

An unexpected apology left Bianca puzzled. She stared at the boy for a moment, unable to decipher his increasingly intense gaze and the unfamiliar emotions behind it. Suddenly, Bianca seemed to remember something, "Oh, right! Those two men from before were saying that the Boss is going to harm Aunt Cathy, right? Let’s go save her!"

With that, she stood up and pulled Roy, who hadn’t moved yet. Remembering that Roy had told her to follow him earlier, Bianca then obediently returned to her spot. Then, another question arose, "Oh, big brother, what did those two bad uncles mean when they said whoever is ’hard’ first gets to go? Does it mean the one with better martial arts skills? Whoever has better skills, they’ll go fight first?"

Roy: "..."

With her large, black eyes unblinkingly fixed on Roy, Bianca resembled a curious, waiting doll. Innocent and inquisitive, one glance at her could soften anyone’s heart.

Roy could only feel a chill running down his spine, staring into Bianca’s eyes, unable to think of what to say in response. Although Bianca was precocious in terms of social skills and aesthetics, Ivy and Michael Gordon were careful to shield her from such topics that might compromise her healthy development as a young child.
