Chapter 493: Chapter 472: A name is just a symbol, any form of address is fine!

It was only two months ago that Alya Larson was kicked out of Allure International by Michael Gordon, and now she’s jumped from the future Mrs. Gordon to being Young Master Sammy Lowe’s girlfriend!

And she even acted as if they were really familiar and magnanimous!

As if the unpleasantness between them had never happened at all.

"So Miss Larson has a new boyfriend now? What should I call him, Young Master Lowe, or Young Master Matt?"

Ivy Aretha chuckled softly, gently pushing Madeline Harrison aside and assuring her that she would be fine, "What, are the both of you here to offer incense together?"

"Names are just symbols. Call me whatever you like!"

Sammy Lowe looked Ivy up and down while he spoke, with a hint of curiosity and exploration in his sharp eyes, as if he was very interested in Ivy or her face. "Alya said that the temple here is very efficacious, so I came to make a wish for my mother. As you just came out of the temple, I presume you visit often. Is it effective?"

The last three words were spoken while staring straight into Ivy’s eyes.

"When it comes to praying, whether it’s effective or not depends on one’s sincerity. There’s a saying here that hits the nail on the head: if your heart is sincere, it’ll work. If you truly believe that your goal will be achieved, then it will be achieved. If you doubt it yourself, then of course it won’t work. No god is willing to bless or help someone who doesn’t even give their faith and devotion. Am I right, Young Master Matt?"

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

The man stared at her, seemingly stunned by her words. His violet eyes, filled with an unfamiliar emotion, lingered on her for a moment before glancing at Alya beside him, and then resting back on Ivy’s face.

"It really is better to see for oneself. Mrs. Gordon, you are as eloquent as they say!"

As he spoke, he reached out to take Alya’s arm. "It’s no surprise that you lost your man to such a formidable love rival!"

Ivy: "..."

Is this how someone acts as a boyfriend?

There really is no shortage of weird things in this world, Ivy thought, as she finally witnessed something she’d never heard of before.

Someone who actually praises their own girlfriend’s former love rival?

"Sammy, you’re teasing me again. There was nothing between me and Michael! It was all caused by our elders."

Alya spoke, leaning her head affectionately against the man’s body, making their love quite apparent, "I’m your woman now, let’s not bring up the past, or it might hurt our feelings!"

Ivy: "..."

What’s going on here?

Did they sleep together already?

For a moment, Ivy found it difficult to understand the motives of the woman before her. Meeting her on the street and showing off their love in front of Ivy, was she proving that she too was loved?

Or proving that she simply wasn’t interested in Ivy’s man at all?

As Ivy looked at her, she couldn’t help but recall the time Alya was kicked out of the Gordon family by Calvin Gordon, the words she said to Ivy - that Michael loved her before he lost his memory.

But now, when they unexpectedly ran into each other, Alya outright denies that anything ever happened between her and Michael, insisting that it was all just a fabrication of their elders!

This woman...

Ivy couldn’t quite see through her, but her instincts told her that Alya was a formidable opponent!

Whether a woman is extremely malicious, or like Theo Scott’s wife who’s lost in money, green tea bitches rumored to be white lotus disguised, or women with ulterior motives, none of these seem to apply to Alya Larson.

This woman seemed to be a unique existence, her generosity genuinely astounding, as if she holds no grudges!

They had quarreled and been love rivals, but Ivy has always been wary of drawing too close to Alya. Yet, every time Alya saw her, she was always polite. Just when Ivy believes her to be harmless, Alya challenges her openly.

Even after being driven out of the company, Alya still greets her politely when they meet, as if there had never been any grudges between them all along.

Ivy only wants to say that she can’t quite figure out this type of woman!

She’s too deep!

"It’s getting late, it’s already afternoon. The two of you should hurry up if you want to offer incense, or the gods might think you’re insincere!"

After saying this, Ivy gave the couple a faint smile, only to see the man’s sharp gaze land on her slightly bulging abdomen. A hint of cruelty flashed in his eyes, almost undetectable if Ivy wasn’t so naturally sensitive.

Ivy suddenly felt a chill down her spine, an eerie sensation creeping over her.

"We’ll be leaving now!"

After saying this, Ivy pulled Madeline along, signaling that they could go.

For a long time after they turned away, Ivy could still sense the cold gaze from behind, watching her. Ever since she became pregnant, she has grown increasingly sensitive, and this time, the feeling was too strong to ignore.

"Ivy, what’s wrong?"

Seeing Ivy’s face looking off, Madeline subconsciously thought she was feeling unwell. "Is your stomach bothering you?"

"No!"

Ivy shook her head, having already reached the temple’s parking lot. As soon as they approached, the driver opened the car door. While getting in, she asked, "Did either of you find anything odd about the man named Sammy Lowe that Alya brought with her?"

"You mean Alya’s boyfriend?"

Madeline helped Ivy get into the car and followed, "He looks like a mixed-race child. He might not be from our country, so that’s probably why he looks strange!"

After saying that, she couldn’t resist teasing Ivy, "Besides, now that you have Mr. Gordon, I guess everyone else must seem strange!"

Ivy: "..."

Was it really just her imagination?

She has been on edge for quite some time!

"I think Ivy is right. I have this gut feeling that there’s something off about this guy. And that woman named Alya isn’t a good person either!"

Before Madeline could even finish, Julie Harrison chimed in, "They may look beautiful, but their face spells trouble, just like Oliver’s little green passion fruit. At first glance, you can tell they’re not good people!"

Ivy: "..."

This assessment... There’s clearly bias!

But she agrees!

"Pfft!"

As soon as Julie finished speaking, Madeline couldn’t help but burst out laughing, "Julia, I never saw it coming! You can actually read faces? Don’t tell me you can read fortunes too?"

"I don’t know about fortune-telling, but that requires too much study in fate and destiny, and those who do it must be gifted. It’s not something anyone can learn!" Julia explained seriously, "I may not have the talent for such complex knowledge, but when I was bored at home few years ago, and Oliver was busy day and night, I read some books on the subject. It actually makes a lot of sense!"
