Chapter 485: Chapter 464: What do you mean?!
And of course, if anyone had been wronged, it was Oliver Thompson who truly suffered an injustice.
So when he called Julie Harrison asking about Oliver, his words were so harsh. As for the life-and-death exaggeration, it was not a big problem for him to return alive considering his abilities.
But he suspected that the secret behind this event might be related to him as well!
Nodding, Michael Gordon pinched his beloved daughter gently and gave her a kiss, "Darling, go and join Brother Roy and accompany Mommy for a nap. Mommy is very tired after such a long flight. Go and keep her company!"
The growth of children is always more apparent than adults. After a year, an addition of one year in their age made them taller and even more adorable and charming. The already mature Bianca Aretha had even deeper eyesight.
With her large eyes, specifically giving an intense kiss back to Michael Gordon before vigorously nodding, "Okay!"
Ivy Aretha was indeed a bit tired, and when she got home, her nerves relaxed slightly. Feeling heavy-eyed, she said hello to everyone, then took the two children upstairs to rest.
Downstairs in the living room, Julie Harrison, feeling somewhat anxious, sat on the sofa, her head down, not daring to look at Michael Gordon. Ever since that day in the kitchen, when Michael Gordon had spoken those words to her, she had been seriously considering them.
She had spoken to Oliver once; over time and without seeing him, her anger had dissipated considerably. Sometimes she considered letting the past be the past and just cherishing the present.
But each time she prepared to let go, her dead father’s final image haunted all her thoughts like a nightmare, and any forgiving thoughts she had were shelved.
"Didn’t you call me this morning, asking about him?" Michael Gordon sat across from her, a barely there, incomprehensible smile on his stony face, a heavy dose of sarcasm in his tone as he quirked a brow in query, "How come I am back, and you are not asking anymore?"
"Since you know about it, and even cancelled your honeymoon to return early, obviously, you came back to sort it out. Whether I ask or not, the result won’t change. Why ask anyway?"
Julie Harrison didn’t raise her head to look at him, but continued to tidy up the basket of hair accessories that Bianca moved around. The little one recently wanted to braid her hair and bought so many headbands that, when it came time to use them, she didn’t know which one to choose, hence the mess.
"You’re pretty crafty, and even somewhat confident!"
Michael Gordon, watching her, let out a cold laugh, then spoke again, "I don’t care about the rest. I just want to know if Oliver comes back alive, would you want him or not?"
"Let’s talk when he comes back!"
The woman responded with the same old statement as this morning’s call.
While she clearly cared, she didn’t take that final step, secretly worrying but still guarding that last step, supposedly the condemnation of her conscience.
"There will be nothing to talk about when he comes back!"
Michael Gordon’s face darkened, an intense cold aura spreading across his entire body. There was a somewhat strong and aggressive momentum in his voice as he spoke again, "If you want him, I will bring him back. But if you don’t, then forget it, to prevent him from the heartache of being rejected after coming back!"
"What do you mean?!"
Upon hearing his words, every fiber of Julie Harrison’s being tensed instantly, leading her to burst out with that question in disbelief.
"Since you asked, it seems you couldn’t understand the literal meaning, huh?"
Seeing her genuine concern, Michael Gordon’s expression eased, a hint of mockery appearing on his face, "Let’s put it this way, if you want him, I’ll bring him back. If you don’t want him anymore, well, I can just slip him some amnesia drugs, make him forget you and the child. He could live a carefree and happy life, wouldn’t that be better?!"
Seeing Julie’s shocked face, stuck in disbelief.
Michael Gordon let out a cold laugh in his heart, adding, "That way, I wouldn’t be wasting my energy bringing him back alive, only for him to want to die again when you reject him."
Amnesia drugs?
Are there really such medicines in this world?
"If there are such drugs, it would be good. Give him some," Julie Harrison agreed, and then as if thinking of something, continued, "And give me some too. For those who should not be remembered, forgetting is the best solution!"
Michael Gordon, "..."
If Oliver could hear her words, he might be so outraged as to stir up some real trouble!
This woman looked calm and composed, but when put to action, she was more merciless than anyone!
With that, Julie stood up, not raising her head, and vanished from his sight.
Jaysen Smith shot him a languid glance, "Your move isn’t effective against a resentful heart, you’re just facilitating her intentions. Right now, she’s only concerned about his safety for the sake of their child. Let them figure out their problems, we can’t help!"
Jaysen’s words were measured, but they caused the woman, who was climbing the stairs, to pause. For a moment, she wanted to turn around and ask them, but she resisted and continued up the stairs.
Jaysen Smith and Michael Gordon departed that day. They didn’t leave any instructions regarding the matter, just saying they would return soon.
Ivy Aretha didn’t ask; Oliver had saved her life many times in the past. Regardless of Michael Gordon, even she, the expectant mother with a bulging belly, would definitely help if she could.
After Michael Gordon and Jaysen Smith left, their phones were turned off. The two women were somewhat worried but could do nothing except trust them.
Three days after their departure, the sun was shining brightly, and the kids, who Ivy Aretha had insisted return to school, were back in school. One was in kindergarten, the other, in first grade. Hooky was not a good habit.
Despite regularly ditching classes, they were nonetheless the uncrowned kings of the school. However, sending the kids to school wasn’t about grades, but to foster good study and life habits. Thus, Ivy Aretha didn’t indulge them in this habit of playing hooky.
Just one day at home, and they were packed back off to school!
Now just three women were left at home. While no one discussed the men’s matter aloud, it was on their minds which made their concern evident on their faces.
If they couldn’t bear it, they would still bear it!
No matter what they did at home, their hearts were unsettled and anxious, and they could do nothing practical.
"By the way, the weather is so beautiful today and the temperature just right. How about we go out for a walk? Staying at home all day, even a healthy person will fall sick!"
Eventually, it was Sienna Harrison who first suggested going out.
"We’re in Andras City, it’d be good to stroll around. But where should we go? Don’t tell me we’re going to a mall!" Ivy Aretha glanced at the eager Sienna Harrison, "That kind of boring activity is more suitable for your Jaysen Smith to accompany you!"
