Chapter 445: Chapter 424: Don’t you know that men being introverted is annoying?
After all this fuss, she finally figured it out: this introverted, seemingly moral and restrained scoundrel must have secretly fallen for her!
After all, she was so beautiful and they shared a bed for so long. It was only natural for a man to fall in love with her!
"So, you knew all along?"
Realizing he had held her too tightly, Jaysen let go of the woman he had excitedly embraced, "Well, what do you think about it?"
"What do you mean, ’what do I think about it?’!" Seeing that the man had released her, Sienna immediately shook off his supporting hand. "Just say what you want to say, don’t you know that it’s infuriating when men are so withdrawn and introverted?"
Jaysen: "..."
Was he really being introverted?
"About me liking you, loving you..." Jaysen cleared his throat, then looked at her sincerely before continuing, "What do you think about it?"
In reality, he wanted to ask, "Do you like me too? Do you love me too?"
But he didn’t dare to ask outright. Although Sienna seemed unrestrained and had a fiery personality, she was a delicate and committed person when it came to emotions. Otherwise, after he had invested so much time and energy into pursuing her, her heart would still be wrapped up in mourning her past love.
Jaysen hesitated and felt a strange sense of unease. But, to his surprise, Sienna’s response was light-hearted and confusing.
"Well, since you already like and love me, what else can I do?" Sienna glanced at him nonchalantly, raising her eyebrows. Her hand, which was at his neck, moved slowly and deliberately, "All I can do is accept your affection and your love!"
In the end, she added, "Otherwise, it would seem like I don’t appreciate the good things in life!"
Ivy was right. It was better to find a man who loved her than to find one she loved. At least this way, she wouldn’t be the only one with a heavy, anxious heart. Having been hurt once before, she now learned her lesson: don’t ever say the word "love" lightly. Once you’ve said it, you’re destined to be the one who loses!
In the game of love, the first one to invest is the first one to become vulnerable. She had already been the vulnerable one once, and it left her covered in scars. This time, she refused to be the one at a disadvantage. She knew that it wasn’t fair to Jaysen, a pure and innocent man, but the only thing she could do was to do her best to fall in love with him.
But she promised herself, she would never say the word "love" again!
Some things are better left unsaid, for they carry more weight and bring more rewards when they remain hidden in the heart!
"Pfft!"
Jaysen couldn’t help but laugh at her response. "Aren’t you ungrateful enough already? And you..."
Do you love me? He couldn’t bring himself to say these three words, which got stuck in his throat.
"Never mind!"
Jaysen gazed deeply into Sienna’s crystal-clear eyes, sighed softly, and resignedly leaned down to kiss her newly dyed brown hair. Closing his eyes fondly, he said, "As long as you’re by my side, it’s fine. We’ll take it slow, since sooner or later, you’ll be mine!"
Jaysen still had some confidence in that. It was only a matter of time. Sienna had already come a long way from a relationship that had left her wounded for six or seven years. Some people never recover from such heartbreak, like Michael Gordon!
When he was young, he had met a young girl who died in front of him. Even though she was just a child, he had never forgotten her. Later, when he heard a false rumor that she was still alive, he went on a frantic global search, only to return empty-handed, and his mind wiped clean. It was then that he found himself in the hospital and met Ivy Aretha, which eventually led them to their current relationship.
Sometimes, he wondered whether losing his memories was a blessing or a curse.
If he hadn’t lost his memory, perhaps he would have been with Ivy six years ago – no, it would be seven years ago now, after the new year. However, if he hadn’t lost his memory, the person who had been most important to him would have been the girl he sought who had come back to life. Becoming accidentally responsible for get carrying a child after a one-night stand would only have made things more difficult for him.
Now that he and Ivy had come this far together by chance, both he and Oliver Thompson stopped mentioning his past experiences on his behalf.
But he still worried about their future. Despite appearing inseparable and perfectly loving, the blood and grievances within their families couldn’t be solved just by having two children. Comparing Michael’s and Ivy’s futures to Jaysen and Sienna’s, the latter would have a much simpler path.
They were well-matched in status, with no worries or resentment, and their backgrounds were clear!
To celebrate their marriage registration, Jaysen had planned a candlelight dinner by the sea. However, at Sienna’s insistence to try something new, they had visited Old Paris instead to enjoy some local cuisine. Although Jaysen felt a bit disappointed, seeing Sienna’s satisfaction made him realize that their wedding anniversary could be just as perfect even without a candlelight dinner.
Feeling delighted, Jaysen sent his first ever selfie.
When Michael, who was on his honeymoon on Claun Island, saw this message on WhatsApp, he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. He even showed it to Ivy just to confirm whether it was the real Jaysen.
When Ivy stretched her head to look at the couple’s selfie, she immediately remarked in surprise, "The eternal monk has finally renounced his asceticism and started indulging in the joys of the world!"
Michael thought his wife’s words were absolutely spot-on, so he promptly used the same phrase to give them a complimentary comment.
As soon as he sent his comment, he saw a three-line comment from their mutual friend Oliver Thompson: "You guys are getting married and having children, while I’m left starving here. Are you sure we’re still brothers?"
Seeing this lengthy comment, Michael was stunned. He quickly replied, "Brother, where’s your cool, detached demeanor gone?"
Feeling that it wasn’t quite enough, he added another comment, "Your wife is at home taking care of the child and watching the house. You can go to sleep whenever you want!"
He had just withdrawn his hand after clicking "send" and hadn’t even refreshed the screen when Oliver’s phone call came in. As soon as he slid the answer button, the man’s furious voice came through, "Michael Gordon, you were supposed to take good care of my wife, but you left her all alone at home to look after your children?!"
"What do you mean ’look after our children’? Michael responded with a light chuckle, blocking Ivy who was lying next to him on a beach chair "Isn’t your son also a child?"
With that one sentence, Oliver was left speechless, unable to respond for a long time. Eventually, he solemnly said, "Enough joking, I’m serious. You should be careful lately. There are a few groups of people watching you. Don’t be overconfident and underestimate your opponents!"
