Chapter 426: Chapter 405: The premise is, you have to give me a child
"But you still cried, which proves, deep down in your heart, you still have me!"
There was a calmness in the man’s voice, with no fluctuations, as if her words were expected, "Since you still have me, don’t force yourself. Let me handle what you care about!"
"No need!"
Could he solve it?
Could the dead come back alive?
Could things that had happened be undone?
"You said you would set me free that day, we’ve already slept together, when are we going to get a divorce?"
If they continued like this, she would eventually become mentally ill. Julie instinctively attributed not being able to let go of the man deep in her heart to the marriage certificate between them, so she had to resolve it now, otherwise, she would not be able to face her deceased father.
"I did say that, but on the condition that you have a child for me, give me the child, and you and Roy can leave!"
With a calm voice, Oliver’s eyes contracted beneath his gloomy expression, "Just spending one night with me and wanting me to let you go, Rosella, you think too highly of me!"
"Then...what if I tell you now, I’m already pregnant, can we get a divorce then?"
Somewhat inadvertently, Julie blurted out the words without thinking. The first thought that came to her when she heard Oliver’s words was that this man would keep her locked up like a widow, and whether or not she could give him a child would depend on him.
Already pregnant?
Upon hearing these words, the man’s body trembled, and the phone in his hand, which was recording a video, dropped to the ground. He stooped down to pick it up, shaking as he spoke with an earplug to the woman opposite him: "That’s impossible!"
"Why is it impossible? We did it so many times that night. It’s too likely!"
With a guilty conscience, Julie didn’t keep her eyes on the screen while feigning bravery. "And you didn’t take any precautions. I don’t have infertility issues, so getting pregnant is completely normal!"
"You were in your safe period!"
Oliver pinpointed the crux of the matter, his deep gaze was filled with bloodshot eyes, "Rosella, don’t lie to me, or I’ll get angry. And you know very well what I’m like when I’m angry!"
Having said that, he hung up.
Leaning on the steering wheel, he took deep breaths. The image of her face in his mind grew bigger and bigger until it completely filled his head, leaving no room for anything else!
He knew it all along. She told Amanda that she was only holding onto him without divorcing to anger her, but deep down, she still wanted a divorce. She just couldn’t get past that hurdle!
Was she really pregnant?
By rights, her safe period had always been accurate, but accidents were not ruled out!
If she’s pregnant, should he let her go?
Ha!
What was he thinking!
Since when did he care about a woman’s nonsense?
So what if she’s pregnant? Seeing Michael Gordon’s lovely daughter made him want an adorable daughter of his own; if she was pregnant, that would be fine. But was he willing to let her go?
Since when did he become so gentlemanly?
He was originally a villain, so why bother pretending to be a gentleman in front of his woman? If not divorcing, then what could she do? Since they were going to hell, they might as well go together!
Thus, Oliver sat in the car until dawn, without any sleepiness. His phone rang, and he picked it up, answering: "How’s the investigation I asked you to conduct?"
As he listened to the person on the other end, Oliver’s eyebrows furrowed, "Keep looking, I want to see either a person or a corpse. My wife cares deeply about this. If you can’t find anything, bring me your head!"
Having said that, without giving the person on the other end a chance to speak, Oliver hung up and threw his phone out. The phone banged against the windshield inside the car and then bounced back, the fierce impact bringing Oliver back to his senses!
Unwittingly, the two had reached an impasse. He could feel her love for him, but she forced herself to stay away from him to provide for her family!
His beloved woman still treated her enemies as benefactors and tormented herself!
Therefore, before the final answer was determined, he could do nothing, neither get too close nor stay too far from her, and could only wait quietly!
After a while, Oliver seemed to snap out of his reverie, quickly picking up the phone and dialing someone.
On the other end, Michael Gordon was holding Ivy Aretha, who was deeply asleep, and was awakened by the sharp, grating sound. He glanced groggily at the woman in his arms, not thinking at all before he reached out and turned off the phone.
He gently separated the woman, who was sleeping soundly on his chest, from his embrace, got out of bed, fixed the quilt covering her, and tiptoed out of the bedroom with his phone in hand. He went straight to the study next door, glanced at the missed call on the phone he had turned off, furrowed his brow, and called back.
The instant the call got through, the man’s irate voice burst through the phone, not even giving him a chance to say hello: "You hang up on me first thing in the morning, what do you mean by that?"
"I haven’t even said anything about you calling me first thing in the morning, what do you mean by that?" Michael answered coldly, "Don’t you know my wife is precious now? Her sleep in the morning cannot be disturbed!"
For some reason, Ivy’s pregnancy had been particularly challenging recently. Starting from the first month, her appetite and sleep had been poor, she was not easily soothed, and all he could do was watch helplessly!
This man called to bother him early in the morning, and he hadn’t even thought of hitting him yet, but he already dared to ask what it meant!
"Precious now?" Oliver raised an eyebrow mockingly, then spoke softly, "Hasn’t she always been precious?"
Michael Gordon: "..."
It seemed that she actually was!
"That’s only natural! I am one of the top ten good husbands, not like certain people who leave their wives with someone else to care for them. Luckily, it’s a man like me who has a better wife. If it had been someone else, with the way you’ve been acting, your wife would have been somebody else’s already!"
Mr. Gordon deeply despised some men who couldn’t settle with their own women!
"Haven’t you heard that showing off love will lead to an early death? Keep showing off, be careful that your wife gets stolen!"
Oliver couldn’t stand this man flaunting his love in front of him from time to time, telling him how to pamper a woman. Simply hearing it made him feel suffocated. However, he could not deny that this fellow was indeed a devoted lover.
