Chapter 424: Chapter 403: A Way to Survive?

"A way to live?"

Huh, he really dares to say it!

"Julie Harrison, since the day you forced me to marry you, your way to live has become my dead end. Sorry, but I don’t want to be pushed to a dead end, so you have no way to live. Don’t even think about the divorce!"

After finishing, he hung up the phone with a snap!

"Bang!"

The tightly clenched fist slammed furiously into the steering wheel, making a loud noise that echoed in the huge space of the car. Due to the loud noise, Oliver Thompson seemed to think of something and habitually looked towards the passenger seat, only to find it empty.

The person who should have been sitting there was just on the phone talking to him about the divorce.

When did his life come to a point where her presence became an indispensable habit? This woman infiltrated every aspect of his life as if she could not be stopped.

Since she left, he hasn’t eaten a single meal at home, hasn’t tied a tie, and keeps her seat in the car empty out of habit.

Oliver lowered his head and glanced at the securely fastened seatbelt on his body. Then, he looked at the empty and meticulous seatbelt on the empty passenger seat. His lips curved into a self-mocking arc, and the cold laughter spread from his lips all the way to the bottom of his heart.

For how many years has his habits been unconsciously changed by her?

He never used to fasten his seatbelt when driving because, in his arrogant worldview, car accidents wouldn’t happen to him. His driving skills were so good that even if he were to drive off a cliff, he wouldn’t need a seatbelt to save himself.

However, ever since she climbed into his passenger seat at the age of sixteen and told him to buckle up while driving, he was forced by her to learn to adapt to having an elastic belt strapped across his chest. At first, he found it quite uncomfortable and hated it, always tearing it off.

But, the woman would always patiently re-fasten it for him with a smile, saying that wearing a seatbelt is being responsible for one’s own life as well as others’ lives.

He had always been a reckless driver, pushing his car like an airplane, and most people wouldn’t dare to ride with him. His car had always been lonely until she fearlessly climbed into his passenger seat and told him:

"The passenger seat is a more dangerous position than the driver’s seat. Only the most important person in the driver’s heart sits there because it is a position of sharing life and death. If you drive recklessly, I’ll be the first one in danger. Just remember that I’m your most important person, and I’m the one willing to share happiness and hardships with you."

She said these words when he was speeding at over 300 kilometers per hour on the highway. At that time, he had encountered some problems and was in a rush. He still remembered that the traffic police who saw him speeding from afar were so scared that they stepped aside with pale faces, not daring to stop his car.

However, he never expected that the delicate and timid woman would lean over and look at him with a soft smile. The faint smile seemed to be engraved into the bottom of his heart. Over the years, every time he stepped on the accelerator, he would remember the woman who was willing to share life and death with him!

And since then, he had never driven at the reckless speeds he once did.

But now, the woman who was once willing to share life and death with him is repeatedly saying that he should give her a way to live!

Divorce?

He gave her a way to live, but where is his way to live?

Oliver reached out and gently touched the tightly bound seatbelt on the empty passenger seat.

At this moment, he realized that the woman who had always been subconsciously rejected and ignored by him had merged into his blood a long time ago. It was just that he instinctively didn’t dare admit it until she walked out of his life.

He discovered that he, Oliver Thompson, could bear the destruction of the Thompson family, but he couldn’t bear the disappearance of this woman from his life!

Julie stared blankly at the phone that the man had angrily hung up, the man’s words replaying in her mind over and over again. Then, she couldn’t help but think of the image of the man taking a shower that Amanda Foster had told her about over the phone.

Suddenly, the scene switched to Oliver sitting in the car, the car window being knocked on, and someone warning him that he couldn’t park there or he’d get a ticket. With his temperament, a year’s worth of tickets would probably amount to about 10,000!

Wasn’t he in the bathroom?

How did he end up in the car after just answering a phone call?

If it weren’t for Amanda’s voice, she would have suspected that she was hallucinating. After hanging up on her, they must have started doing it right away, in the car?

Are they playing around in the car?

With this thought, a familiar sour taste welled up in Julie’s heart. Even after so many years as a wife, she had never played around like that!

Julie felt like she was going crazy. Otherwise, why would she be begging the man to give her a way to live on one hand, wanting a divorce, while secretly getting jealous in her heart on the other?

If she continued like this, Julie felt that she would be driven to a split personality by this dilemma between love and hate!

After being hung up on, Julie lay in bed tossing and turning, unable to sleep for several hours. Her mind was so chaotic that she thought she might be going insane.

Images of the man came over and over again, driving her crazy. When she got close, she felt guilty, but she couldn’t escape either!

It was already four in the morning, and Julie had no sleepiness at all. Instinctively, she searched for sleeping pills in the bedside table, only to realize it wasn’t her home and there were no sleeping pills.

She had just wanted to get up and make a cup of hot milk when her long leg had stretched out only to quickly retract as her phone rang, startling her. Subconsciously, she picked up the phone, slid the screen open, and cursed, "In the middle of the night, are you trying to scare me to death with a phone call?"

Already late at night, Julie was suddenly frightened by the crisp ringing sound and didn’t even bother to look at the phone screen. In order to relieve her inexplicable fear, she started cursing, expressing her inner fear.

The silence on the other end of the phone tightened Julie’s heart little by little, and involuntarily, she thought of the haunted phone calls in ghost movies. She wanted to check the phone screen but saw images of a bloody vampire with seven holes on the screen!

All she could do was instinctively hold on to the phone, press the light switch, and turn on one light after another. But the silence from the phone’s handset, so quiet that there wasn’t even a hint of breath, startled her into subconsciously shrinking back into the quilt.

It wasn’t until the familiar voice of the man came through the phone that her tightly wound nerves completely relaxed.

"Did I scare you?"

The man’s low voice hid a hint of worry, and his tone was exceptionally gentle, "Why aren’t you sleeping in the middle of the night? Are you watching ghost movies?"
