Chapter 335

Ivy Aretha had gotten used to addressing Oliver Thompson this way in front of Cathy. That man was too unpredictable. Ever since the first time she saw him in Artha City, she felt a sense of alienation that was beyond normal. So, she didn’t interact much with him!

"I don’t know, perhaps he went back!"

Cathy smiled faintly, ignored it, and joined Ivy in cutting out window flowers without much reaction. It was as if this man had nothing to do with her!

The idea of cutting window flowers for New Year came from Bianca, who heard her kindergarten classmates talking about it. Once home, Bianca insisted they try. Ivy didn’t have much interest, but Cathy had plenty of patience to cajole her into it!

So, the three of them were cutting out window flowers!

"Cathy..." Ivy looked at the woman in front of her who was earnestly cutting out window flowers, mulled over it for a while, and then opened her mouth, "What do you plan to do with Oliver Thompson? Dragging it out like this is not the way!"

As soon as Ivy finished speaking, she noticed Cathy’s hand, still holding the scissors cutting window flowers, paused for a moment. Then, just when Ivy thought she wouldn’t say anything, the woman’s calm and cold voice came over, undisturbed: "You’re right. Dragging it out like this is not the way. There must be a conclusion!"

They had already spent more than a month here!

Ever since that night when Oliver Thompson almost forced himself on her but stopped at the last minute, they hadn’t spoken a single word to each other. They were living in Michael Gordon’s house as if they were strangers.

The man who was always too busy to even eat properly now seemed to have a lot of free time on his hands. He showed no signs of leaving and strangely, those annoying phone calls he used to always receive were suddenly absent!

Yet, every time she saw his face, Cathy remembered the day her family had fallen apart and all her relatives were gone!

It’s not that some people don’t love, it’s just that they can’t continue to love!

"Ahem..." Hearing Cathy talk like this, Ivy shivered all over, a foreboding feeling overwhelmed her. The phrase ’conclusion’ sounded somewhat bone-chilling.

"Cathy, don’t misunderstand me. What I mean is, as long as two people genuinely love each other, all other obstacles can be overcome!"

Ivy put down her scissors, looked at Cathy and said seriously, "You’ve seen Michael and me go through this before. There’s a huge grudge between us that, on the surface, might make it seem impossible for us to be together, but we’ve made it through!"

After a pause, Ivy continued: "How long have we known each other, not even a whole year, but our children are already so grown. What obstacles could be too big for a couple who have been together for six or seven years?"

Ivy was actually trying to persuade Cathy over this hurdle. After all, she overheard their conversation that day, and judging by the looks of Oliver Thompson, his feelings for her seemed to run deep!

Plus, they also have a child!

As long as Cathy can let go of the past, there is still a future!

However, she did not expect her words to give this woman a different idea!

"Yes!" Cathy sighed, continued to cut the window flower in her hand, her ambiguous words sounding as if she were talking to herself. "We’ve been married for seven years, our child is six years old. Even deeply in love couples experience a seven-year itch, let alone us, where affection has always been unilateral!"

"Unilateral?"

Ivy was taken aback by this word. Normally, whoever says this word is the one with the unilateral love. However, the current situation didn’t seem to reflect this. The man was clearly the one trying to win her over!

"Yes, our marriage has been unilateral since the very beginning. He is only doing this now because he feels indebted to us, the Harrison family. But what can this apology salvage? A marriage that has reached its end?"

Cathy immediately shook her head in denial: "No, it’s too late!"

Her quiet, wistful words, tinged with quiet sorrow, drifted into Ivy’s ears, causing an indescribable pain. It felt like the deepest love at the bottom of the abyss, now on the brink of despair. What exactly did Cathy and Oliver Thompson go through?

What made her so desperate that she was even willing to abandon her child and run away?

To be fair, if she were to divorce or separate from Michael, she wouldn’t give up Bianca even if it killed her!

"Cathy, sometimes, if you don’t try, you always feel like you’re at a dead end. But after you try, you realize that it’s not the end of the road!" Ivy looked at her seriously and said, "It’s just time to take a turn!"

"Take a turn?" Cathy’s hands finally stopped, and she looked at Ivy in confusion. Before Ivy could respond, she was interrupted by an excited childish voice.

"Mommy, you’re really here! You’re really here!"

Before the two women could respond, they saw a little boy excitedly running from the doorway, then joyfully jumped into Cathy’s arms. Excited tears spurted out!

Ivy was taken aback. She lifted her head and saw Oliver Thompson walking in with a suitcase from the doorway. His pace was slow, his gaze deeply fell on the mother and son sitting next to Ivy. It was a tenderness she had never seen in him before!

Oliver Thompson watched for a while, then looked away and continued to walk upstairs with his suitcase, only to run into Bianca who was coming out of the game room.

"Uncle Thompson, you’re back?"

Bianca greeted him respectfully and then asked, "Now that you’re back, where’s my little husband?"

He had promised to bring her little husband home for the New Year!

Oliver Thompson bent down and kissed the little girl’s cheek, then pointed at the sofa downstairs. He thought having such a cute daughter couldn’t be too bad. He took a liking to this little girl from the first time he saw her!

Then he thought about his son who always avoided him. He realized Michael Gordon was right to brag about daughters being more considerate than sons. Such thoughts did cross his mind, however, as soon as his gaze landed on the woman on the sofa, the thought vanished without a trace!

Give the current situation, even a kiss would have to be forced, right?

Let alone having a child. Although he thought it wouldn’t matter to push it a bit, he knew that if this woman fought back, she would most likely fight back so hard that he would feel sorry for her!

Observing her quiet, introverted appearance, when push comes to shove, she might be tougher than anyone!

He had deeply experienced this kind of toughness!

That’s why he controlled himself at the last minute that night, and only almost forced himself on her!
