Chapter 305: 285 won’t make your belly bigger.
"Mom, why are you here?" Mario Jensen didn’t answer Lina’s question, and directly embraced her to the sofa, "Didn’t I tell you that I would take her back to see you?"
"Go away!" The woman didn’t pay attention to him and just walked straight to Lina’s side while talking, "Did you do something to my daughter-in-law that you were afraid I would see? Be careful; my daughter-in-law is pregnant now!"
While talking, she took out a prepared money gift and went to Lina’s side. Before Lina could address her as ’Mom,’ the woman smiled and said first, "Look how truly beautiful my daughter-in-law is! Our Jensen family’s grandson will surely be handsome in the future!"
"Mom!"
Mario Jensen saw that his mother looked at Lina as if she were a monster, and her face turned red from being stared at, "Mom, don’t scare her!"
"Mom, I am Lina!"
Before Mario Jensen finished speaking, Lina stood up and bowed to Lana Sanders. She didn’t know the best way to communicate, as Mario Jensen had not explained beforehand. She didn’t know what to do or what to say. In her nervousness, she just performed the bow!
"Good girl, take this!" Lana Sanders looked Lina up and down with her eyes, then stuffed the money gift into her hand. When she saw Lina’s long eyelashes, her brows furrowed deeply. She turned to Mario Jensen, "Brat, did you bully her?"
"Not at all!"
Mario Jensen was a bit baffled.
"If not, why is she crying?" Lana Sanders sat down beside Lina, taking her hands, "Tell Mom if he bullied you or not; Mom will stand up for you!"
The sudden tenderness made the always love-starved Lina feel even more heartache. Even though it was the taste of happiness, she couldn’t help but want to shed tears. She had imagined ten thousand scenarios for the first meeting with Mario Jensen’s mother, but she had never thought of this one: "No, Mario has been very good to me!"
Lina tried her best to control her emotions, but her voice still choked up when she heard her mother-in-law’s words.
"Dear, don’t cry. If you cry, my precious grandson will cry too!" Lana Sanders wiped away Lina’s tears with a handkerchief while scolding her son, "Mario, I’m warning you; don’t bring your company manners home. She’s your wife now, not your subordinate. Don’t use your old methods anymore!"
"Lina, don’t cry. If you’re wronged in the future, tell Mom. I will always stand by your side!"
Somehow, upon hearing this, Lina’s heart softened. She leaned into Lana Sanders’ embrace, and her heart eased, "Thank you, Mom. Mario has truly been good to me!"
"Tsk, such a good child!" Lana Sanders patted Lina’s head while looking at Mario Jensen, "I told you long ago that Lina is a good girl. I asked you to marry her and bring her home, but you dragged it out for so many years. Luckily, she wasn’t snatched away by someone else. Otherwise, when would I have held a grandchild in my arms?"
Fearing that her son would be obsessed with a woman they didn’t know, would not be open to relationships, and would not get married for so many years, Lana Sanders, as a mother, had her heart broken. The first time she saw Lina on the screen, she asked Mario Jensen to marry her but was refused. However, she never gave up thinking about Lina.
"Mom, who told you it must be a grandson?"
Mario Jensen felt like he was going crazy. He knew that once his mother came, he would be in trouble!
"A granddaughter would be nice too!" Lana Sanders patted Lina’s back while talking, "Don’t worry; our family doesn’t have the concept of preferring boys over girls. We are not like the Gordon family, who would abandon their daughter-in-law and granddaughter for not having a grandson. It’s something Calvin Gordon could do, but our Jensen family can’t!"
Lina: "..."
Her mother-in-law was too kind, showing concern for not only her but also Ivy’s unfair treatment!
"Mom, what kind of nonsense are you talking about? What era is this, and what does having a son or daughter have to do with Lina? Isn’t it a man’s thing? Besides, the Gordon family’s situation isn’t as simple as the media reports!"
This was backed by science.
Ivy Aretha already had a 5-year-old Bianca Aretha; it didn’t make sense for Calvin Gordon to not acknowledge them. Besides, this era had long since abandoned the mindset of preferring boys over girls; there might be more significant problems between them!
"Yes, yes, does it matter if having a son or daughter has anything to do with you? Go and check if dinner is ready in the kitchen; I want to talk to Lina!"
Lana Sanders shooed Mario Jensen away and took a box out of her coat pocket. She then opened it in front of Lina. Inside the box was a jade bracelet. At a glance, the bracelet’s value was obviously immense. The color was top-grade emerald, with transparent and smooth luster. Even though Lina was not an expert, she knew that this was a high-quality jade piece. It could possibly be worth even more than a year’s salary for a celebrity like her.
"Mom, I can’t accept something so valuable!"
This item was clearly an heirloom passed down through generations in the Jensen family; it should be given to the person Mario Jensen loved the most. At least for now, she couldn’t accept it!
"Child, if I say you can accept it, you can!" Lana Sanders did not give her the chance to refuse and directly put the bracelet on her, "Since the first time I saw you, I wanted to give you this bracelet. I have been waiting for nearly ten years. Mario has been a bit dull and slow to react. I hope you can understand him!"
Hearing this, Lina was thunderstruck. Lana had been waiting for nearly ten years, but ten years ago, how old had she been?
She should have just met Mario Jensen back then!
And thinking back to Lana’s later words, Lina thought she probably understood. Ten years ago, Ivy Aretha was nowhere to be found, and whether she was alive or dead was unknown. Yet Mario Jensen’s feelings for her had long been ingrained in him, and Lana was probably afraid her son would remain unmarried if he couldn’t find her!
"Mom, I understand, and I will understand him. I support any decision he makes!"
Now that Ivy Aretha had married Michael Gordon and had an unbreakable family, Lina hoped she would be happy and that Mario Jensen would also be happy. If this happiness was provided by her, so much the better!
"Silly girl, what other decisions could he have? Don’t misunderstand Mom’s words. By putting this heirloom Jensen family bracelet on you, it means that in this lifetime, the Jensen family’s daughter-in-law can only be you. Mario’s heart might have had someone else in the past, but that’s all in the past. Even if he hasn’t let go of her now, he will eventually have to let go. Maybe he has already let go. Otherwise, with his personality, if he still had another woman in his heart, he wouldn’t have gotten you pregnant!"
